Only NRS has enough jank in their system to faithfully characterize ODB.I'll never be down with NRS until they finally release the Wu-Tang game that they've been secretly been working on for the past 7 years

We can only hope these predictable motherfuckers manage to feel enough shame to shut the fuck up, eventually.
I should probably get a ps1 pad too then, huh? IIRC all of the official ps2 controllers had analog buttons, although very few games actually made use of them. Are you using controllers with analog buttons? I don't think the Xtokki plays nice with those.
So this went down exactly as expected. All weekend they got themselves hyped up on "Fuck Keits! Fuck UFGT!" Then they all started making declarations on Twitter about the huge blow ups that were gonna happen. Earth-shattering, monumental blow-ups that would change the FGC forever! Then, after the people who were focused on running UFGT could pay a little attention to this, it turned out there wasn't much controversy. Then all the guys on the rage train blew themselves up on OBS because they had absolutely nothing constructive to say and just made themselves look like assholes. At the same time, the scene feels a bit devalued for it, but that feeling is just temporary until we get some more hype matches in our system.
Props to those who confronted these guys and keits for not getting super dragged into it, despite being the target. It was obvious these dudes were going to hang themselves all on their own. Their goal is to get someone down to their level just so they have some to keep the drama going and validate their egos. The only way to win is to not play /war games

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone complaining about the Bari Bari ball game on stream so late. I mean, switching that with injustice would have been cool right? Not main stream but whatever.
As a european who has to watch most of the "prime hour" finals on the archives the day after, because they begin at 4 in the morning, I find all of this talk quite amusing. While I can kinda understand the no-trophy thing, I think this schedule-drama is quite bullshit, to be honest: as long as your game's finals show up on stream, I don't get the importance of it being at 9 in the morning or 9 in the evening.
There are schedules you can check in advance, and they are archives for the things you couldn't watch.
I'm really not convinced by this argument. The importance of prime stream time isn't for the community that's already there, it's to grow the community...
Man Valle was on? Now I have to watch the archives of what I missed.
This is the weirdest comparison. Injustice is a new game that has a lot of momentum, gets a lot of entrants, and gets a lot of stream numbers. Persona and SFxT aren't those things. Remember when SFxT headlined NCR when it was new? The Persona comparison is kind of valid because after it came out it got the 9am slot at its first major (DoA had a much better slot at that event), and I really had a big issue with that when it happened too, but Persona was never going to have broader appeal in the FGC like Injustice has a shot at.
Yeah i'm currently trying to learn the game too. It's hardSolar, Q, etc. - what's the best way to approach learning GGXAR?
If Injustice really is going to be the next big fad in the FGC it's going to be that regardless of timeslot, being on stream 2, whatever. I mean, that's how "whens marvel" became a meme.
I like that people want to overthrow the capcom overlords because variety is a good thing. However, you need to find better reasons to support your game other than the fact that it's the new shiny fighting game. Because inevitably, it's going to stop being a new shiny fighting game.
I'm really not convinced by this argument.
A lot of people watched and enjoyed KOFXIII at last year's EVO, and yet...
It does play a part, but I think people overestimate its influence.
get on irc scrub

Well yeah, it's definitely not a guarantee. The problem with KoF is that it's too hard for most people. I mean it might not be that hard to start with, but when you have so many characters and so many mechanics to keep up with... then you have to learn all your combos as well as those install combos (whatever the install's called in this game).
Same issue plagues Tekken (learning character matchups and frame data for each character) as well as BlazBlue (trying to figure out how each character works since they're all completely different).
Those issues definitely decrease the percentage of viewers who will eventually start playing the game. However, 1% of 10,000 is better than 1% of 1,000.

Yeah KOF is not that complex of a fighter.
So do you guys think Marvel would be a lot bigger than it already is if it didn't have shitass netcode? Marvel is almost unplayable online.
I don't think there's just one single thing that's responsible for KOF not being as big as people would like. It's a lot of different things mixed together. Though yeah, the netcode being terribad is one of them. On the other hand, BB/Persona/Tekken have godlike netcode.
Some people (on GAF as well) think Marvel's netcode is perfectly fine, though.

Yeah KOF is not that complex of a fighter. The netcode turned me off the game though. If it was good, I doubt I would be playing much else.
In b4 someone who has never played KOF13 brings up the combo trials... again.
I've also seen people say that KOF's netcode isn't that bad. These people live in some parallel universe.

It'd be a lot better if the characters flashed blue during the frc window instead of the input bar so I could more quickly recognize and just see when it is. Looking through the frame data gives you general idea (like Baiken's j.D's frc is from frames 9-11) but it'd be easier if I could just see it instead.Your descriptions about the animation will probably help a ton so thanks for that.

Whens mahvel came about when people were getting bored of (mainly) SF4 on stream. It was never given shitty timeslots. There is literally no comparison.
For proof look at the Evo grand final between Bala and MADKof.
Great execution and long combos VS. short combos and very smart movement and play
