Final Fantasy X-XI for The Shield confirmed!
WHICH IS IT?!
Is it wrong of me to hope that Final Fantasy goes back to being primarily Playstation exclusive, at least like 7-12? I'm probably wrong but to me it feels like FF13 was gimped because they decided to put it on 360 as well. I think the game would have still had awful writing and the annoying characters, but maybe it would have just been a better game without the linearity problems and such.
Pure conjecture though on my part. I have no idea what went down. Then again, these are new and different consoles that both use Blu-ray format for games so maybe it wouldn't be an FF13 repeat. Really I'm just ready for the series to go somewhere else without Lightning and I don't even hate Lightning. In fact I'm kinda excited for Lightning Returns because I'm a giant whore.
I think the problem solely lies on Square Enix themselves. They probably put in too much for Crystal Tools and thus sacrificed a lot of stuff in FFXIII so they can put it out faster.
I agree. I think it will look great in action.I hope they have an Infamous demo too mostly because it looks a lot more interesting than the previous two. Help that the main character doesn't look like a generic bro anymore either.
Man, I really want to see Jak & Daxter 4 already. We did get Sly Cooper 4 eventually, so here's hoping.
And a mainline Ratchet & Clank on the PS4 as well. That goes without saying.

Yeah probably. I dunno. I just miss it when FF was mostly excellent when it was just coming out primarily for one console. The SNES games were great, the PS1/PS2 games were great and then the PS3/360 games were like whoa nelly
I liked FF13 for the most part and actually thought that 13-2 was a really good game, but I still felt a tremendous drop in quality. If it remains multiplatform, hopefully it isn't a repeat of this gen.
Would it be worth me taking off work on that Monday June 10th? I am Central time - U.S. and wouldn't be home from work till 6pm cst.
I want to watch as many of the conferences as I can since I plan to get a 3DS, Vita, Wii U, XB1 and PS4 this year.
Also, why do we not have a general E3 thread by now?
Nah it was because they had no idea how to make the game for several years until they made that demo=, which was just a linear corridor with fights in it, and after people gushed about how much they loved it they made the whole game like that.
Seriously I remember reading something like that, the game's development was a mess, it had no direction.
It's essentially taking off work to watch commercials. If it's worth it to you in order to see it all live, go ahead.
Alan Wake didn't exactly set the world on fire either.

I think what happened with XIII was partly a deliberate move by Square Enix to appeal to a different demographic - the linear event after event style narrative and lack of down-time or backtracking was probably a misguided attempt to make the game seem more attractive to the ADHD riddled mass market. I hate to say it, but chasing that Call of Duty money, basically.
As an aside, I'd imagine development of the White Engine/Crystal Tools is what a lot of that time was spent waiting for any game to actually materialize on our end, the game itself probably didn't go into full development until sort of 18 months - 2 years before it finally released - hence the length of time since it's reveal isn't necessarily proportionate to the amount of 'game' we got in the end.
I'm not especially mad at Square Enix for everything surrounding FFXIII, it's a pretty misfortunate affair but they've experimented with different elements and play styles through all of the mainline FF's, XIII came along during the big shift into HD and that is really what damaged the brand.
I'm very optimistic about the future though, to me, XIII-2 showed that Square Enix aren't afraid to listen and react to fan feedback (even if some dismissed it outright for being a sequel) and Lightning Returns shows they can still inject some creativity and play around with new ideas even if a majority aren't particularly excited about the title itself. If they can bring all of those elements together (and stay away from delivering ultra-linear content) then they're doing something very right for future titles. Hopefully Versus, whatever it has become, keeps some of those features we were teased about (world map, air ships, summons etc) because it sounded the antithesis to the experiment that FFXIII was.
Not sure what you mean by commercials. I mean, a surprise game reveal, etc. is hardly a commercial in my opinion. I guess if you mean that it is them touting their new systems then sure but that would make following any game media prior to its release basically a "commercial".
90 minutes of marketing spin, trailers and hyperbole. It's not much different from an informercial, the subject just happens to be more interesting than a Hoveround.
Yep, they tried to expand the audience which is why they were happy to side with MS at the time.
Yeah, it makes sense that they were expanding their market and thus approached Microsoft because they have a strong presence in the US. It didn't work out for them on either a financial or critical level though, so I hope they've learnt a lesson - not about expanding onto other hardware but about trying to appeal to other markets - Final Fantasy was just fine as it was.
We need gameplay demos from as many games as possible. Who said their conference cannot be longer than 2 hours?
I want to see this in action.

i think that will happen more at Microsoft's Event this time around tbh.
Absolutely, if the Xbox One reveal is anything to go by. "Infinite power of the cloud", "rocket science", "invisible technology", etc. Alright then.
Would love for them to be caught faking a "live demo" like the infamous star wars kinect reveal

I wonder if they regret that decision now after all those years.
also Kagari .will you be at E3 ?
If yes .will you be conducting some of the intervieuws?
Yes I will be at E3 and yes I will be doing interviews with several key people in the industry.

I think it was a mix of Microsoft moneyhatting SE (like what they probably did with Star Ocean 4 I think) and SE wanting to appease CoD crowds.

I was just thinking, if Sony Santa Monica show up it won't be God of War. They just released one this year.
I'm actually really excited for this for my daughter. She's recently taken to games like Skylanders, Minecraft, and sits with me when I play certain games like Ni No Kuni. This looks like something should we enjoy so far. Want to know more.

if they are gonna show anything it will probably be Stigs project .
speaking of which.. do we actually know anything about it?
it's meant to be an open world third person shooter with vehicle combat iirc

I hope Santa Monica won't come back to GOW series. It's time for them to move on and let other studio to introduce something new in GOW. I think that both, Santa Monica and GOW, need a rest.
It would be fantastic to see something new from SSM
