Tekken is awesome. But it's also convoluted as fuck and I don't see how anybody can say otherwise. Unless they've been playing Tekken since Tekken 3 and don't know what it's like to try and learn all that shit at once or something.

Kayo Police~ <3

I love you guys. :')
Rest of you are jerks!

Hey when you held up the "Shoutouts to FGC GAF" thing at SCR I noticed when nobody else did.

To the topic of TTT2...

1. Most of you guys have NO IDEA how killing a character will cause chaos in Tekken... Most of the Tekken fanbase are casuals, but they are the ones who will shout the loudest. You guys probably didn't hear about the legion of Kaz fans, Jun and Kuni fans, and now Shin fans.

2. Competitive-wise, many people (including Aris and most chars) doesn't realize until now that TTT2, despite so similar in T6, plays COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I was reading long time ago here in this thread about TTT2 players wanting to have a 3/5 a set for people to adapt and people disagree, reasoning is in Marvel who is a more frantic game and players are adjusting more quickly. This is actually what players need to learn in this game. Rage and Life management are far more important than the small things and Tekken players need to stop being a frame nazi about stuff in a game where you can always get a chance to comeback despite being beaten for the rest of the round.

3. The complaints about movelist are bogus. You got characters like Jin, Paul, Lars and others who got pretty short movelist for people. and good movement always take you farther, even when you don't know the matchup or the player... JDCR proves that point.

4. Even if you reboot the game, it's still gonna be Tekken... There will still be Deathfist, Hopkicks, Snake Edge, Multis and other "cheap" moves that people will complain about... Reducing characters and moves would not only make the game less fun, turning the whole game into a homogenous boring game, but all the other things that people complain about will stay there... So what's the point?

And believe it or not, The Tekken Team is just basing their next game to fan feedback... You know why we don't have Scenario Campaign? Most of the Tekken community complained about it. P. Jack, Michelle and other chars came back because people are requesting for it...

Here's my longer post about it...

You say "no" to a lot of comments, but I'd like to know what you think should be done for T7 to help revitalize the series.

I think they can play it safe for TxSF. It'll sell fine by virtue of it being a crossover. Tekken 7 is where they'll try something idk what

edit: I'm not playing that shit tho

Honestly, TTT2 is absoutely phenomenal when it comes to character balance, character diversity, freedom in playstyle, freedom in the combo system, and overall level of control of a virtual avatar in any game whether it be fighting, rpg, or adventure. The depth alone within this game makes it deserve a 7-8 year life.

What I want:

Namco to take a LOOONG Break from Tekken. Let TTT2 exist and be played for years and years by the community the same way Capcom did for 3rd Strike.

Make a new IP completely different from Tekken to get new players. Rebooting Tekken is a solution, but for them to perfect the system to the level of TTT2 will take over a decade at the very least. Keep Tekken pure for the hardcore with TTT2 and make a new IP that plays differently for the new crowd. Call it MizuKen or TetsuKen or whatever Japanese play on the word "Ken" you want. Even Tekken X Street Fighter counts as a new IP.

I've come to the conclusion that an extremely technical game like Tekken will never ever be accepted as a premier fighting game in the US. But games like that do deserve to exist and I don't want them to reboot and extinguish everything that they've created with it. So if it was up to me, keep Tekken the way it is, make another game to appease everyone else.

Once that 8-10 year mark lands when people have potentially mastered TTT2, then bring out the next big Tekken.

1. Keep the roster, all the complaints about the game being too hard will go away when 1v1 comes back...

2. Better movelist organization. The large movelist ain't the problem, the way its presented is...

3. More in-depth tutorials... Fight Lab is a great start... the third stage is one great stage to learn block punishing... have that for a chosen char instead of combot and you're good.

4. Casual stuff will come back... story mode (campaign), scenario co-op, Tekken Ball and customizations would need more boost. Give players who don't want to play competitively something to enjoy about... If the game is a PS4 exclusive, it's good...

I see alot of potential for the next game as long as long as Harada won't listen to Aris' hasty comments... The game is WAAAY to early for him to judge the gameplay and the sales...

Zuly pls...

Don't "Zuly pls" me, son.

Yes

idk did SFxT sell well?

If not it's likely because they pissed every one off. Which in this theoretical TxSF they don't do because they play it safe.

"As of March 31, 2012, Street Fighter X Tekken has sold 1.4 million units worldwide, in contrast to Capcom's expectations that it would sell 2 million units."

Does the Tekken community feel the series has stagnated a bit, even with the release of TTT2 which puts an old twist on the iterative gameplay of it's predecessors?

Do they feel the franchise needs a refresh, or a major shakeup for continued success in the future not only competitively, but commercially?

I actually don't like Supers in SCV. I never thought the franchise ever needed them, and I think it came down to them needing to change something, and that was it. They're mostly pretty ass and boring to look at too.

I feel pretty much the same way. introducing meter wasn't necessary. most of the ex moves are just moves i used to be able to do without meter lol.

Why would they make the next Tekken PS4 exclusive?

I'm just hoping... but the beast of a machine it was... It would perfectly cater Tekken's power-demanding engine.

Can't believe I missed this... Seconded

If they put Snoop Dogg in as a playable character in Tekken 7 I will gladly buy it.

I pre-ordered TTT2 for Snoop Dogg (and I told Mark & Rich I would), despite the fact I'm ass in Tekken, but playable?

Sheeeeit... I'll be getting the Collector's Edition with the Snoop Lion fight stick and I'm a pad warrior.

Why would they make the next Tekken PS4 exclusive?

Tekken had always been PlayStation exclusive before this gen and was pretty much THE fighter to get throughout the PS1/PS2 lifecycle. Everything changed this gen and I wouldn't mind if they went back to maintaining exclusivity with Sony. Majority of people playing TTT2 are already on PSN anyway. TTT2 performed abysmally on Wii U (I think) despite a being a far better port than most of the other third party titles available at launch. Everyone bought Call of Duty anyway. And it's not like anyone's rushing out to buy Xbone's. So yeah, PS4 exclusivity is okay with me.

As far as change for the series, TKXSF will be major testing ground for that. TTT2, on the other hand, is the culmination of decades of hard work and evolution of a franchise into what we have now. The depth is mindblowing once you learn the mechanics and start to get some local matches going against good competition. It's the most psychological gameplay experience I've ever had. The replay value is almost never-ending.

And I also don't agree with the opinion that it takes two iterations of Tekken play to properly learn the game. There are people in the Tekken community right now that started Tekken with TTT2 as their first title (as far as I know) and performed very well during Final Round. Of course, not everyone is the same and some people will take longer to learn while others will be faster. We all have our strengths and weaknesses (with reactions, reflexes, dexterity, etc) and it's not something that should be generalized for everyone.

Side Note: I also hate when people categorize Tekken as only memorizing frames and movelists. I've been doing well/okay in the game and I don't have frame data knowledge. With time, you just learn how to punish and what to punish with. Heavy memorization isn't a requirement and you don't need to have a frame bible to start enjoying the game or to play it competitively.

They will remove the bloat, the fan service, lower the character numbers (no "clones" just the regulars plus some newcomers), lower the movelist and concentrate a lot more on graphics, production values and new gimmicks added to the core game play like Tekken 4 added stage interaction.

I'd like to see the pre4 cast get their moves re-animated. With a little retooling Tekken's story could be salvageable. Dial back the gods and demons and just focus on the bad blood within the Mishima household.

They could also release TxSF and prototype the mechanical changes in TxSF. If nothing else it'll remind players that Tekken is fine the way it is/ease burnout.

If this is the Tekken game that releases as T7 it will do worse than TTT2. The casuals are gonna play T7 for few hours and will come to the conclusion that its too hard. No matter how you organize it, 100 moves are 100 moves. A godly tutorial is not going to save Tekken either, it didn't save VF (casuals don't sit around in training mode).

I am with AAK as well, let TTT2 be the definitive Tekken for a long time and Namco make a different fighter that can be like a remade Tekken. Come back to Tekken when fans clamor for it or Namco is in deep shit.
