Remember the episode where Cersei was describing what happened behind a song called 'Rains of Castamere'? That is the tune to Rains of Castamere.

Essentially, there was a family - House Reyne - who got too big and strong, thought they could stand up to the Lannisters. Tywin then killed every single member of that house - men, women and children, down all of House Reyne's generations, until not a single person was left from that House. Only thing that remained to mark the memory was Reyne's once mighty, ruined Castamere, where rain weeps over its skeleton.

Since it is a Lannister song, Catelyn immediately knew something was wrong.

People think the Lannisters are riding high right now, but they're largely clueless about Daenerys' dragons and massive army along with Melisandre's black magic, and they consider themselves largely untouchable. To the extent they do have vague awareness about that stuff, i.e. the rumors surrounding Daenerys, Tywin could not give less of a shit.

Their hubris seems likely to bite them hard. They feel safe with all their money, political machinations, and their decimation of opponents to the throne, blissfully unaware of the outside danger. Maybe Jaime coming back with a missing hand will knock some sense into them.

Same as that generic guy who whines all day about not being king with the red coat spaghetti monster lady. I don't care about the witchcraft shit and the black smoke.

That's mainly why I'm upset at this, because now the show is going to focus on that nonsense more and more. Unless they put in new characters who are interesting/sympathetic, and aren't ghosts or flying wizards then maybe things will be alright. I love Arya, the Lannisters, and littefinger. If they show enough of them next season things will be tolerable.

Which was great in showing that even a putz like Joffrey can have insight on things where someone otherwise much more capable allows arrogance to take precedence over precautions. Tywin is incredibly intelligent and calculating, but he can be up his own ass at times.

Yeah I've noticed you hate Dany, but this just doesn't make sense man. Maybe you would like her better if you realized this little tidbit just isn't right. I mean I can see hating her if you don't like her actress, her luck, or even her recent sense of entitlement, but that doesn't bring her anywheeeeereeee close to Joffrey.

Just some random lesser Lord under House Stark. Apparently some people here guessed he was working for the Lannisters early this season. Supposedly has a bastard that was sent to capture Theon at Winterfell but arrived too late. Robb put him in charge at Harrenhal where he stayed when Jaime Lannister came. He sent Jaime back under the instructions he tell Tywin it wasn't his fault he lost his hand and then went to the wedding at the Frey's. Who knew how long he was playing the Starks. Sneaky little fuck. I have more anger at him now that even Joffrey or Tywin. Especially that look he gave Cat.
