New images in this month's Play magazine.
Is it just me who thinks the background looks stunning?
Backgrounds are probably the area of racers that need the most work, if they really look this good I will be in awe.

I'm not a big fan of this kind of racing sim, but those environments and the lighting fidelity on this one keep me checking the updates just to see what we can look forward to next gen in those regards.

Honestly, I just really love how this game has so far shown a variety of weather and TOD, like how the screenshot above shows a grey, damp and wet day with could, to me that is awesome.

I dislike it when all you see it 12 noon fully sunny day and such.

This game seems to have a very nice atmosphere to it, in a sense.

Also that is why its hard to compare this to Forza 5, the difference in TOD affects the screens to much.

Also, they need to start releasing screens without so much compression :P

Isn't it arcade/sim rather than sim? I really don't like sim games:(
Hopefully we'll see actual gameplay at E3.

It's not a sim, so you don't have to worry about that. It's supposed to be a cross between a sim and arcade racing in terms of handling, which would put it in the same field as Criterion's NFS games or PGR.

This looks too good to be true...

Actually o would say downgrade for the car.. but i think it's the compression and the weird lack of any reflection on the surface..

As for the texture, everything is a little blurry there so it's hard to tell.
I prefer past shots!

Its going to be interesting seeing this dev go from a physics heavy dirt buggy/bike/truck arcade racer, to a more realistic racing game.

There's a serious noise filter in that shot that I assume isn't part of the regular render treatment.

The lighting looks fantastic as always though.

I don't want to see anymore screenshots; I want uninterrupted gameplay footage. Screenshots can be touched up, but footage is more conclusive. Desperate to see how this baby looks in motion.

if this game is no more sim-like than criterion's nfs games, i will be very happy. i still want a motorstorm/wipeout game way more, but a 1st party developed nfs-ish game would be something i would very much enjoy.

Q: Will DRIVECLUB be a simulator or an arcade racing game?

A: Neither! We've had the absolute cream of racing developers work hard on something that fits a new space. Authentic, yet fun. Our handling team focused on making each car feel authentic and thrilling, without labels.

On the engine sounds:

Each car was painstakingly set up with over 13 mics before being captured on track. You'll not get anything closer to real life

Eargasm!

Did anyone really doubt Evolutions graphical prowess? Motorstorm looked phenomenal for a PS3 release title.

From the Reveal trailer, you can tell sound will be a big part of the game ( especially since instead of using stupid music ( GT, FORZA) they just used the car sounds).

Little stuff like that gets me hyped up.

Just turn the music off in GT/Forza, then...

Where art thou reiterating this from? Doth thou work at Evolution Studio?

Damn, that is a huge issue with loads of other games.
I have too much hype for E3. Eeek.

I agree, looks like quality was lost somewhere / the pic is too small. The background mountains still look nice though.
