Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

Got my Vita (wifi & 3g) on Sunday, really nice, I love the screen. Didn't cost me any cash either, traded my old iPad and iPhone for it and got enough credit for the purchase. Got LittleBigPlanet and a 4gb card.

Not impressed with the price of the memory cards, though. I was looking at getting a 32gb one, but it's too expensive.

It says on the box that I can get a free copy of WipEout from Vodafone (I'm in Ireland) once I register and top up the sim card with €20. Has anyone done this? Any problems getting the code from them?

Is FIFA on the Vita good? Worth buying? Also, any good games coming out later this year? How is the Killzone game shaping up?

I did the Vodafone thing at launch in Germany and got my Wipeout code as promised in a day. But the promotion is limited until they run out of codes, so maybe you should check back with them, maybe they just forgot about it. Would be kinda surprised if they are still running it.

Fifa for Vita is essentially Fifa 11.5 and misses most importantly Tactical Defending and the Impact Engine. As Fifa 11 was a good game, the Vita version also is. The missing features may be a turn off for some but there isn't any better portable football game.

I just bought it at the CL finale promotion so I only have played two online matches, botch were very laggy. You can play the game without all Vita gimmicks but the backtouch shooting is really good. In fact, it is totally overpowered.

You should get PS+ and enjoy Uncharted and Gravity Rush. The memory card prices really suck but like everyone sooner or later you will crave for the 32GB one (especially after subscribing to PS+). The user experience with a bigger card is much better.

Wait, Limbo IS cross-buy?

I got PS3 Limbo on PS+ ages ago, so I guess I get this too, then.

Limbo port redeemed! (if true and working with the PS+ version)

edit: top of the page recommendations:

-Soul Sacrifice
-Wipeout 2048
-Rymdkapsel (PSM)

Niiiice. If the file size isn't huge, I might actually put it on my Vita and play it next then. :)

Yay a port of a mini game... again.

Gameloft is missing this horrible milking party, where is Nova 1 Ultra HD?

Oh shut up, Captain Negativity. ;)
I've been wanting a good shmup to play and loved the flying hamster mini -- having it native on my Vita with up-rezzed graphics, trophies, and whatever other improvements may have been made is more than worth a few bucks, especially since I got the mini through PS+. :P

Unfortunately the deal has ran out.

I bought a Vita last week and thankfully checked before putting money on it and Vodafone has a huge thread in their forums about it being ran out but people still paying to get it and being left disappointed.

just a reminder, they were lying last year.

I think after New Little Framerate Story and Book of Memories bombed they decided to not even think about Vita anymore.

Gee, how could they be surprised about a lack of sales for a fully-priced digital-release only game and a terrible loot game? I'd be interested in King's Story if it were either dropped way down in price for being a digital-only game (like $20 or less) or were released as a physical cart. And did anyone even ask for that Silent Hill game anyway?

Amazon.uk fellow GAFfer, pretty cheap. Some people like it, others don't. I wanted this one because it looks simple and minimalistic.

No inner pocket however, here it is a picture of how it looks inside:

But it's missing a few places for game carts I think. :( Where do you put them? Unless you go full digital.

This is the case I have. If you just want a hard case that keeps the vita in good nick while travelling its perfect. Its a very snug fit which to me make me more confident it will keep it protected.

Im not fussed by lack of cart slots because most my stuff is digital. I have a small plastic holder for cards and mem cards if I really want to take them with me that easy fits in a small pocket as well.

It is indeed fellow GAFfer. Like I said, my Vita is played at home hence why I wanted a clean look for a case. It's just a case to protect the Vita from dust to be honest. And yes, so far I'm full digital EU PS Plus :p

I liked the demo for Silent Hill: Book of Memories.
I just didn't like the price.
And I've never seen it drop to a price I want to pay... maybe someday, if it hits a good price and I'm still interested...

wow @ cross-buy limbo. that's great news! i've had it on ps3 for ages but only ever played it for about an hour. other games came and i forgot about it.

what's this about?

I own the PS3. But, there was no way in hell I was paying more than $9.99 for the Vita version.

i can't open polygon at work, but people are saying (while linking to a polygon article up above on this same page) that limbo is cross-buy.

Cross buy means if you pay for one version (you have the ps3 version) you get the other version for free. So limbo will be free on Vita for you.

I know what cross-buy means. But, this is the first I'm hearing about Limbo being cross-buy.

Great news!

Well in that case, congrats on your acquisition. It does look neat indeed.

If i'm not wrong in japan at least nlks on vita sold better than lks on wii, and we know the difference in install base right? They shouldn't complain about it.

No one asked for that silent hill but i liked it ;)

Has anyone here gotten 100 % in Jacob Jones? I'm missing a few things, it seems, namely:

2 puzzles
a few soda cans
the sidequest that allows you to catch gnatnobblers

Can anyone help me find what I'm missing, and does it involve starting a new game?

You probably have to start a new game. Check a guide online.

I know how much you guys (read Toto) hate PSM, but it seems like a cool rhythm game will be releasing tonight.

Cytus Lambda. The original Cytus was a DJMAX Technika clone for android/iOS.
I don't hate psm!
Imo the most interesting game is the japanese only dungeon crawler though :(
Curious to see how good or bad that ys clone is.

Which Sword of Rapier or Wonderland Labyrinth? Wonderland Labyrinth should be freemium if you have a way to play Japanese PSM games (tablet/phone which allows easy account switching)

Yeah Limbo hasn't been on US PS+ yet.

Cwap.

(1) reload your complete save, see if the missing puzzles are there. depends on the puzzle numbers though.
(2) Soda cans? good luck, buddy. Someone posted a guide on ps3t that worked well when I used it. You might want to try that, but you'll definitely need a new game to follow the guide, most likely. It's easier, but you could try without restarting, I suppose.
(3) Gnatnobblers will require a restart unless you got the 2 in the road at the 2nd puzzle with the log and the car. Otherwise, I posted a very basic guide in the trophy guide/road map over on ps3t.

Short answer? Go check ps3t.org ;)

Yup.

so last i checked field runners 2 was just a mess of IAPs etc.

does it coming to vita mean that stuff is removed in exchange for a "full" priced game?

also only 9 missions, it's clearly another bare-bone Vita game just like Unit13, COD Declassified and Burning Skies.

Sadly it seems that vita fps have to lack in multiplayer, but those 9 missions are long enough if i'm not wrong.
Unit 13 is far from being barebone imo, if developers did an introductive story mode with just a sequence of some of the already present missions + some cutscenes things would have been very different for them and for the game.

Maybe, the same was done for Nun Attack and the impressions on its implementation was okay from what I heard.

Abyss mode in Blazblue is great for car trips though I'm getting carsick way more often now...

Edit: Yeah each mission is said to be an hour long the first time (9 Hours) and IGN even posted an impression saying it was too long and wanted "more, bite-sized portable missions" so idk Vita-Paradox as normal

Heh funny thing after dying few times i finally killed Werewolf in difficulty 7 pact and just as he died so did battery in my Vita :D

3 modes and 6 maps? They could at least bring over some KZ2/3 maps, unless that's the plan for DLC.

Killzone 3 had 3 modes and 7 maps.

Killzone's main multiplayer mode is quite complex for map design, as it needs to accommodate several game types dynamically, so this is par for the course.

Toto be trolling already though, I see.

3 modes, and 6 maps, and 8 players is disappointing, but they'll be way higher quality than the likes of CoD and Resistance. Plus it has Warzone, which is a blend of objectives.

Maps look really nice, though:
