The GPU stuff is kind of worrying. All this stuff is starting to bum me out. I know most of it isn't even confirmed, but still. I'm still not going to jump to conclusions until E3.

Just when things were looking up for X1 or at least a pause on the cavalcade of bad news for MS and we get a 30+ page thread on more downgraded specs :( well at least If you believe the insiders in that thread Bruce said the games are looking pretty good.

Posted, discussed and debunked! Fake unfortunately.

I realise it's a fake, but wouldn't it be funny if they all actually turn out to be true in some form or another?

We can already cross off Forza 5, Quantum Break and Halo Spartan Assault.

Halo 5 is a given, even though it may not be revealed this E3 (although a small tease could still be on the cards)
A new Fable seems now more likely after the reveal of Anniversary (fingers crossed).
Dead Rising 3 is also not that far fetched.
A new Banjo-Kazooie would be great, but it's probably the biggest gamble on there.

I can't quite tell what the one on the bottom left is.

Nothing to spin really. They dont want to do an open table FFA crap shoot. I doubt anyone else will either.

To be fair - they wanted to do that roundtable at one point - they changed their mind (That's what "cancels" implies at least). What the reasons for this change of mind really are is up to speculation of course.

Yeah, i can't see the pic here at work, but if it's the same pic that got debunked, that would be killer instinct.

Indeed. And it has to be that they're scrambling and in panic mode here on GAF lol. Fun times.

I don't know. I mean, I don't know if we're just seeing another "Xbox 1.5" overblown type of reaction, or if these rumors are even true, but it's just not good to hear. I really hope we see actual demos of Xbox One and Playstation 4 games at the conferences or after; multiplats to be exact. I want to see how Sleeping Dogs, Battlefield 4, and Destiny run on both of the platforms.

That won't alleviate all my concerns with the console, but it's a start.

Five days and we'll see. It feels like a little battered wife syndrome though.

It only feels that way because you read this forum. Go look elsewhere on the internet. Major gaming sites and mainstream media are not picking up a lot of these rumors. I talk to a lot of my buddies and they don't care what happens behind the scenes. If the games are there and they are good, they will buy. That is the mentality of most of the gaming public. This forum is a small but very vocal % of the gaming public and as such feels much larger than it really is.
Best thing to do is wait it out and see what happens at E3. As for the roundtable getting cancelled. That actually is good news. I would rather MS get everything right and get the info out on their own terms than a repeat of the reveal. They are still having one on ones and doing interviews. A journalist friend of mine just reconfirmed their appointment minutes ago.
So everyone needs to chill the F out!

Most of the negative sentiment is coming from gaming forums, there is plenty more level-headed disussion about the Xbox One on other websites and podcasts.

Just wait for E3, if you only want to get one console, buy the console that has the games you want to play, don't buy it for the brand.

I just remember that I liked the 360 so much because it had a lot of good exclusives early on, but even more importantly it ran most multi-plats better, until later on in the life-cycle when most devs caught up. I liked knowing it usually gave me the best experience that I could have out of the consoles. Not to mention, while I think Live is a great service, one of the biggest parts of it was the headset in every box. That was ingenious. It not only allowed everyone to talk as soon as they had the thing, but it set a standard. If you didn't have a headset, you were expected to. Friends pressured you into going out and getting one.

Now, since both are basically souped up PC hardware, the PS4 is looking to be clearly better, and it won't likely be another fumbling by developers do to exotic tech. I don't care about resolution at all past 720p right now (I think it's nice to see higher ones though for people who have the displays to use them) but what I do care about is framerate and visuals. If it's clearly visually better, or it runs a whole lot better, then that's another thing. The difference between 30FPS and 60FPS is big usually. Not to mention it will have a headset in the box as well, which is huge. The One is going to have the Kinect, but no headset. I'm just curious how that's going to affect games and chat. I don't know if that's going to be enough, like the headset was.

If Microsoft disappoints, at least I have Yeezus to look forward to the next week :/

I haven't been following because I want it to be a surprise, but is it all rap again? Or are we seeing another 808's or Dark Twisted Fantasy?

It's easy to focus on a lot of the negativity running rampant through several threads and the usual suspects reveling in it, but let's keep things in check here;

1. If a GPU downclock does take place and I'm not convinced, then it's effects will be minimal. PS4 already has more meat on it's bones and thus is statistically in a better position. It's up to Microsoft to give reasons why Xbox One should be the go-to once again.

2. No matter what anyone says, what really matters is the games. I can bitch and moan all day, but I'll take a Lost Odyssey 2 on a system with the same flops as the 360, never mind 5 times that amount. Flops mean precisely jack and shit to the mainstream console buying populace, but under the right conditions they can mean not an awful lot more for the hardcore gamer too.

3. Every single console Microsoft has released has been met with this same tired drama. Back for the OG Xbox, the official UK Playstation Magazine openly mocked it and called on Gates to recall and apologize for ever having conceived of it. Wasn't helped that it kept breaking down on stage at the reveal, admittedly. Then there was Xbox 360 MTV, aka Xbox 1.5.

4. Microsoft have made some cock ups, but they will go to the wire on this (pardon the pun). Alea iacta est, they've invested far too much to back out and their strategies for the Xbox One do not allow it to fail. That's not to say they will indefinitely prop it up, but I think you'll find they go balls to the wall when pressed (see prospective U-turning on DRM etc)

Just to add, the differences in CPU between Xbox One and PS4 are minimal, so you won't find framerates suffering. It's likely you'll still have 1080p/30fps (or even 60fps) on both, but the Xbox One version will have less shading and other things, ie, it won't look as good. In some cases not noticeable, in others very much so.

Yeah, I will say that I'll still wait and see what the best overall package of OS/features and games are. I was very happy with what I saw from the OS, but now we have to wait and see if that comes to fruition. I know they're going to have killer games at this point. They wouldn't be this bold about their claims if they didn't, but I still have to see what those games are, and how they compare to the PS4. Also have to see the PS4's full OS/features stuff.

Well, it'll definitely be a huge E3. There's no doubt about that.

There isn't actually that much out there believe it or not. The two tracks he did on SNL I don't really know how to describe but I don't know what I'd call them rap. Supposedly the album has a fair amount of electronic influence (daft punk working with him, skrillex, and some other folks I know nothing about). Though there is a sick soul sample that plays on kanye's website right now, so we'll see.

I've loved all of his albums, so I'm excited no matter what, but I'm hoping for the return of the College Trilogy Kanye. 808's was great, it actually was a big part of my life when it came out, and I liked Dark Twisted Fantasy too, but to me you can't beat rapping Kanye. Especially when he's making his own tracks.

As much as it pain me to say it, (Sorry, I love Sony), I think X1 will still sell more in the US than PS4. It's just too big of a brand to be knocked down by a couple of months of bad press. The real battleground will be the UK.

I'm sure this negativity is just an over reaction that will be silenced once Halo 5 or something like that is shown.

It may be completely off-topic, but do you think there could be a link between the April xbox rewards and E3 ? I must admit that I made sure to fill all three punch cards for the mysterious VIP reward, just in case it could be some cool gift, at least for a selected few (I didn't expect a backstage ticket or a free Xbox one, but you never know :P), and seeing how we got so close to E3 without getting any information...

Microsoft always balls up the initial reveal, but by the actual launch they get thier shit together. Theyre considering thier next move at the moment, and it's likely they'll want to ride the postitive publicity that comes with showing off thier games, before they talk about DRM again.

Relevant to your interests;

I mentioned the other day that I was hearing rumors of Microsoft throwing around a considerable amount of money to have publishers only show games on the Xbox One during E3. Most people dismissed my admittedly flakey news as 'that's what always happens.'

I've talked to more people since then though and this isn't the usual jostling for publishers on stage that happens at E3. Microsoft is throwing BIG money around to reverse course on idea that they aren't a games console. The rumors are that PS4 versions of multiplats, by those who do take the money, won't be shown AT ALL. Not on stage and not on the show floor.

I don't feel bad for Sony because business is business. I'm sure they will find a way to have a decent show... or they will have to recover afterwards. That's not really my concern.

Now, there's no need to take my word on this if you don't want to. But do keep an eye on E3 next week. With them buying up everything in sight and now potentially cutting an open roundtable out(to assumedly talk one on one with friendly press) and word that finding multiplat games on the ps4 on the show floor will be much harder than anticipated.... just keep an eye on it. Maybe my sources are wrong. But I feel confident enough in this info to share it.

I'm not saying to jump to conclusions. I'm just saying it may be something to keep an eye on.

I still think it's common practice, from what we could see in the past... maybe MS is overdoing it, but I don't think it should be a problem for anybody, especially for games that will release on all platforms at the same time (I can understand bitterness on "moneyhatted" exclusives, though).
If it can help dismiss the ridiculous idea that "Xbox is not about games" by showing some games, then fine. I'm sure it won't prevent owners of other platforms to still enjoy them. Games like Assassin's Creed are traditionally presented on Sony platforms, and Call of Duty on MS platforms, and they sell in droves on both.

I think it's all overkill at the moment there are issues but I feel they are bein blown ou of proportion. Looks like they were caught out by the ps4 and are scrambling am I expecting fireworks on Monday.

I wasn't planning on watching the conference, but with all these bad news rumors I'm perversely more interested. I hope it's either great or a train-wreck.

Sounds OKay, it's their marketing, they did it with X360, making it look the home for multiplats, I bet they can do it again. It's just a humongous if you consider the amount of exclusives coming too, can be a tidal wave over the no games indeed.

Not having a knock at you specifically, so don't take it like that, but why would any gamer want one (or even both) to fail or be a "train-wreck"? Wouldn't it be much better for the gamer if both were to be a success? They not only get better games, and more experiences, but they stop any time of monopoly occuring in the future.
