The newest issue of ONM contains an interview with Animal Crossing: New Leaf Director, Aya Kyogoku. The interview is full of the usual pablum, until Kyogoku starts talking about colleagues who are playing New Leaf.
AK: In my department there's a man called Mr Imamura who has been working on the Star Fox franchise. He's always been a big fan of Animal Crossing and is playing New Leaf at the moment.
Seems like an interesting admission by Kyogoku.
Me 3 days ago:
As for F-Zero and Star Fox, Takaya Imamura has been involved in just about every game in both series (if not every single one). He's a Director in EAD No. 5 (the Wii Fit team) and his last two projects were direction on Steel Diver and coordinating with Q-Games Star Fox 64 3D. I have a feeling that if there's a new F-Zero or Star Fox he will be involved in some way. Either EAD will take some development responsibility, or like his last 2 projects, they'll coordinate with another outside company.
Me yesterday:
I've posted a theory before a couple of times (but been largely ignored). Takaya Imamura has spent most of his career at Nintendo working on Star Fox and F-Zero, now he's in EAD 5 (otherwise known as the Wii Fit Studio), but his projects there have been director of Steel Diver and project coordinator on Star Fox 64 3D.
I think, if there's going to a game in either the F-Zero or Star Fox franchises, he's the man at EAD who's going to be involved with it and note that he's been free for nearly 2 years now. Just saying.
