I hope we see at least ONE obscure Nintendo character make the leap to 3D.

FOR EXAMPLE:

...

Seriously, if Chargin' Chuck shows up in one of the new Mario games, I will cry cum. Just like when Reznor was unveiled for NSMB2.

Wart. Birdo. Mouser. ...and a lot of other things from SMB2.

I think they will have a trailer for SSB4.

Alright, here's the fanfic/speculation fun. Don't bother reading if you don't wanna waste some time, it's not that good.

Eh, here's just a link to it: http://abload.de/img/ndd3u3c.png

WTF was I thinking?

Damn, you actually wrote all that?

BELIEVE
god dammit

Dafuq is that? Other M UI? Super empty barren place? That isn't Metroid.

Nintendo isn't leaking anything because Nintendo almost NEVER leaks anything.

Christ, people, some pattern recognition would be nice.

E3 gets the crazy in lots of people. I like to believe that I don't lol.

Mushroom cloud got me.

Not that historical trends repeat themselves 1:1, but what was the amount of time between the start of Brawl's development and its debut trailer (a hybrid CGI/real-time mix) in 2006?

Brawl was announced at E3 2005(?) and Sakurai didn't even know about it lol. Iwata got some team ready or something and they started after that I guess. When was the Brawl trailer? E3 2007 or 2006?

EDIT: I need to lrn2read lol, so that would mean SSB4 had more dev time.

Development of SSB4 is way longer than Brawl's in term of E3. I will double check in few seconds.

Brawl

Start Date: Oct 2005
E3 2006 Date: May 10, 2006.

Basically 7 months.

SSB4

Brainstorm Date: Feb 2012
Start Date: April-June 2013 (They announced that Namco-Bandai is teaming up somewhen in June but they said that they had first prototype ready so they must have been working on the game way before.)
E3 Date: June 11, 2013

Between 12 to 14 months.

I believe development started in December of 2005, so 6-7 monthsish?

More than likely a CG - gameplay hybrid like the first Brawl / Melee trailers. Fine by me, honestly, I just wanna see Nintendo character designs in HD.
pretty much, this actually feels like it's going to be the "real" reveal of the console and a first demonstration of what nintendo's best developers can can do with it when they get serious. Can't wait to see 3d Mario, if they push the hardware they could obtain a substantial jump from galaxy, which could shatter many jaws.

Guys. GUYS. What if... Not only will Zelda U be at E3, but we've seen part of it already?

COMING HOLIDAY 2013

Wind Waker: Perfect Ultimate Edition! New dungeons! New islands! New NPC's and side quests! No more Tingle or his fetch quest! Ending replaced with

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA

The vengeful dark gods have captured Link for his role on the demise of Ganondorf. Tetra must go on an epic quest, exploring new lands long buried by the sea, meet strange and fantastic new peoples, master magic and combat, save Link, defeat ancient demons, and claim the rightful rule of all Hyrule as Queen Zelda.

So, considering SSB4 has had more dev time prior to its E3 reveal than Brawl did, and given that this is the fourth installment of an established series, with some experienced HD talent at the fore by way of Namco-Bandai's involvement... I'd say it's reasonable to think we may see a real-time gameplay trailer.

It's more likely since Melee and Brawl E3 trailer did.

The sentiment is shared. I don't think I've ever been so excited for an E3, really. There aren't really going to be any surprise announcements besides Retro's game, and potentially Nintendo could drop some bombs that we don't know about, but I don't anticipate many surprises. However, this is going to be the first time seeing 3D Mario, Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Zelda (WW HD), Yoshi, etcetera in HD with current gen tech, and I think that's pretty damn cool and something to be excited about in itself.

I honestly think most people have been overestimating the amount of time we have left between now and this game releasing, I really think Q2 2014 is a real possibility.

That sounds about right, especially if the Smash team is given that rigid scheduling system they were given for Melee. Didn't they work on the game with zero days off for like 12 months?

That doesn´t make sense.

I'm actually rather excited to see Wind Waker in motion. I was rather critical of its over-saturated "irradiated" color palette when it was first showcased in screens. That was an experimental prototyping phase, of course, with characters depicted in areas they normally don't appear (I.E. jar woman on Windfall). It -seems- they're retaining that color/lighting, given the render of Link seen in the summer tour promo art, but... I think I'm warming up to it (pun intended). More than anything, I really dig the almost Pixar-esque look Link has now; applying realistic shadows makes him seem much more solid and defined. Makes me eager to see Moblins with this new lighting and color scheme. Not to mention that in motion, the game will be a full different beast, much like how Nintendo Land's strong lighting comes off a bit garish in screens, but looks lovely in motion.

there is also the matter of Sakurai's injury, which has the potential to slow things down quite a bit.

Perhaps it will actually speed things up, with him delegating some of the grunt work (programming, etc) he'd normally do himself. The repetitive number-crunching seemed to be what wore on his wrists, not so much the actual play-testing.

well I'd hope so (and I hope he get's better before anything else), but from the famitsu interview it seems it's not only his wrist, but the entire right arm including the elbow joint. Calcific tendonitis and several ruptured muscles.
If there is one thing I'm looking forward to in Wind Waker, it's the redesigned Tingle Tuner.
ha! first thing I thought of when they announced it. Remember trying it out with my old gba and its horrible dim screen, this time around it should be a lot better.

Isn´t that already part of the Bamco deal?

This real-time gameplay trailer you speak of better introduce Little Mac as a playable character. It makes too much sense in a fighting game! Bear Hugger should also be an Assist Trophy. I wish to see players hugged to their untimely doom.

So where are we with newbies in Smash?

*Bayonetta
*Shulk
*Little Mac
*Waluigi
*Palutena/Magnus/Hades/Virdi
*TW101 guy(s)
*Megaman
*Pacman
*Chrom/Lucina/Random FEA character
*Takamaru/Devil

Anyone else to throw on the pile?

From what I noticed that Little Mac, Ridley, Shulk, Pac-Man, Mega Man, and Palutena are the most popular pick for Roster Prediction Contest, but I will figure out the stats once the roster contest hit deadline.

Edited:

You can check the thread out and get idea which characters that are mostly predicted to be in SSB4. Click here to jump to thread. It would be very interesting to see who they would reveal on Nintendo Direct.

Mewtwo's introduction of a new form almost guarantees his return with both forms. Takamaru should be added as well. He's a samurai.

I just added Takamaru :P I'd like him to be in. The rating of his game for the West is promising.

Does anyone else think there'll be VC bombs next week for Wii U? So far, only the 30 yen game is listed for Japan next week.
