Lol at them describing Spartan op's as 'free' DLC. No. It was intended as a replacement for Firefight, a mode which was endlessly customisable and available to offline xbox users. Spartan Op's has no gametype customisation and is only available to customers who also happen to subscribe to Microsoft's Gold service.
New update is the tits. The increase in player speed might be the greatest masterstroke of the lot and it wasn't even suggested until the eleventh hour. Anything to make the aiming harder in this game is an improvement because before it was literally hard to miss shots. Mainstream flag settings are still risible though; why can't we sit on a flag to return it? Every time the flag is more than halfway across the map it becomes practically impossible to return it because the spawn times are too short and players just sprint towards it, touch it, then die and the process is reset. This repeats until they eventually edge it to their cap point. Makes for pretty pathetic gameplay to be honest.
@Risen and Elzar: couldn't accept your invites on Tues because I was playing with a friend splitscreen. It severely limits which playlists available to you. IS is a no no because forge maps are 3 frames per second. BTB ditto. We had to play the Majestic playlist the whole session.

Just wait 'til you call down an overshield only to get ripped in half by the SAW before you can land a killing shot. I'm going to start saving stickies only for SAW users, that way I can at least get a kill out of that frustrating mess.

I'd like it if only it didn't come with enough ammo to get like 8 easy kills this jeez. I thought you could limit ammo in weapons but (at least in forge) thats apparently impossible in this game. ....typical halo 4.
You can literally have endless saw's. Put ordnance re-roll on, get a saw, kill faces, get another saw.

343 seems pretty adamant on keeping it, so the optimal option would be removing it. However, 343 seems to want to push their vision of Halo so it would make more sense to just change it.
Unless the Holy Saviors of the Dominion of Halo (Quinn and Bravo) intervene.
I think some kinda 'class' system would work. Pick your 'upgrade' between speed power and overshield, pick the weapon etc. Problem with that is that there will inevitably be an optimal loadout. But at least people will know what to expect.

Yeah i know. It's pretty much the same as the random PO. Maybe some kinda 50/50 thing where you pick two things per 'tier' and the game randomly chooses? Its tough to balance a feature that is designed to be random.

Ordnance would be much better if it were limited to loadout resupply, AA swap, and powerups, the latter being offered less frequently than the others. Let the other power weapons be static drops on the map, which has always worked just fine.

Legendary Slayer is shaping up to be something in between IS and Pro/Throwdown. So basically classic Halo.

They definitely can remove flinch (it's been done in modded game types). I think they said they can't add descoping. Or at least won't be adding it. It would be great for them to remove flinch in throwdown.

I'm giving h4 a chance for the first time and it's kinda fun. It passes the beer test. There just aren't any really great arena maps. I feel like I can strafe alot better for some reason though. I just want to play Halo 2 on XBL with ease. Why can't they see how much money that can generate.

This is what I've seen as well and I'm seeing my time split pretty evenly between both. I have been a fan of the more dedicated playlists, but it is actually fun having to switch between both play-styles from game to game. It is interesting seeing how much some people really don't like Pro though, mainly seems to be radar related from what I've noticed people saying.

I disagree. Flinch is just annoying in itself. Even if descope isn't in I think the game will play better without that terrible mechanic.

Radar needs to be in slayer pro. I hate radar, especially the one in Halo 4 which is ridiculous considering it tells you exactly where everything is from vehicle outlines etc.
But it's a big turn off for a lot of people and is the reason why I'm noticing people voting for IS settler when things like slayer pro haven are available.
It's just too big a change for most people. Especially when playing with randoms who don't communicate at all.
In all honesty though, no sprint, and no flinch, with the recent 4sk and movement increase would make this amazing. Strafe speed still too slow, but it's definitely more fast paced. I just hate flinch so much. Can't belive they thought it'd work better than descope.

No I avoid anything with the word pro in it because it screams Try Hards to me, I have no problem playing with a good team who communicates in slayer pro and win or lose play well without turning into a whiny little prick. Unfortunately the vast majority of my slayer pro games turn into a bunch of 13 year olds yelling that they are pro and fighting over who is more pro so much that they don't even bother playing properly or communicating. Its one of the reasons I mostly play free for all or swat on Halo these days, in both gametypes I can do pretty damn good on my own regardless of whether my team (in swat) is shit or not.
Of course my opinion could change if I encountered a few good teams on Halo but that hasn't happened for me since Halo 3.
