Season 1 question:

What does "Baelor" mean? I know it's the name of the episode, but why does Ned shout it at Yoren? Was it like a code word that they set up in a situation like this that he would protect Arya in case Ned was coming to his death?
Arya was on Baelor "the blessed" Targaryen statue, he warned Yoren about it because he wanted him to rescue her.

EDIT. You were faster

You realize that seasons 3 and 4 are both one book, right? And there are going to be 7 books. If there are only 7 seasons, then the final book won't get a season.
may be last book is just an epilogue

This is random, but I just realized Arya would have had ZERO sympathy for those nazis who said they were just following orders

ARYA FOR QUEEN
KNEEL BEFORE HER AND HER DIREWOLF NYMERIA

As if people are actually suggesting the last book just not be adapted, lol. What people are saying is that the show should probably last 6-7 seasons. Even 8 sounds too long to me. As of s3e9 it very much feels like we've reached a classic "shocking midpoint" so 7 seasons sounds like the limit to me. Cause it's about what serves the show best, not about adapting the books as faithfully as possible. So it sounds like season 4 and 5 could be the rest of 3 and maybe a condensed version of 4 and 5, season 6 could finish up leftovers from books 4 and 5 while doing most of book 6 (which could feasibly be out by then) and season 7 could be written alongside the writing of the book.
I'd like to see it be like the movie adaptation of Scott Pilgrim, where the final book hadn't been released yet but the writer/director were let in on pretty much the entire creative process and given an idea of where the original author would head, and all three worked together to try and make both distinct and enjoyable.

I guess this Lost spoiler is contextless enough and the ending to that show is spoiled enough that nobody will mind this...but up to you.

I'm still pissy they've made such a deal of the direwolves being fearsome, bloodthirsty creatures capable of wrecking scores of soldiers all by themselves, yet so far their biggest on screen accomplishment has been... biting Joffrey's arm. Back in S1. Yeah.

You miss them go to town on the wildlings? Ripped some necks out.

Summer stopped Bran's assassin and ripped his throat out

I just rewatched the first episode of season one. Makes me sad to see all the Starks happily together. How many of the dire pups have been killed? I know Sansa's and of course Rob's in the latest episode.

That's all.

Ghost is ghosting beyond the wall, Nymeria is probably hunting rabbits (or pig farmers, whatever) and Summer and Shaggydog are busy being warged around.

They aren't even close to full grown yet, though. They're still basically puppies.

I don't know...He's pretty good at trolling people already... :p

After seeing his Conan interview, I actually agree with his choice of killing people. In a Die Hard movie, we never fear for Bruce's characters. He get scratched, bruised, and tired, but he don't die. Even in The Sorpranos, anyone could seemingly die, but Tony was going to be around for sure. Though it's speculated that he died at the end.

Also I liked that George also watched the fan reactions. Yeah he's a troll, but a good one.

What, in the real world? Crimes go unpunished all the time.

Yeah but in these times, I do not understand how any of the other kingdoms can just kick back and watch the Lannister's do this. They are committing Stark genocide. And everyone's either does nothing, or helps them.

Its like if the US decided to wipe out Canada, "because"

And the rest of the world just stood by, or if Mexico helped us eradicate Canada.

I think I was so blitzed watching the first season, when I go back and watch it now, its like I have never seen any of this. Lol.

Yeah I'd definitely recommend some rewatches. Especially of the first season. After you're more able to pay attention because you're not wondering "uh what's that person's name again? who are they talking about? How do they know each other?" And you pick up on more things.

I noticed having re watched the first 2 episodes of season one, It was cool to go back and understand the characters. It just hurts so bad to know what comes.

I actually stopped watching after the 2nd episode, because I hate where the story is going with my beloved Starks. Ned was everything I wanted to be in a man.

GoT is one of the rare shows that get much better after several rewatches. The amount of detail in plot and even attrezzo is staggering, probably unprecedented.

I'm annoyed that Grey Wind went down without a fight. :(

No, it's more like they are killing off the heads of an army to cripple it. 50 deaths is...nothing, to most people, if they're told that it's "war" or some other excuse.

If the rich and powerful are rich and powerful enough, they can make people not know about it. Or they can make the people who DO know...ignore it.

You realize that the US does this all the time, right? And so does every other country.

All the Lannisters except for Joffrey were against what happened to Ned.

And Robb, well, war is war.

As a book reader (Don't kill me guys) the Direwolves being pushed to the background has been one of my biggest gripes with the series. I understand that the dogs were hard to shoot with and it's more difficult now that they have to composite them in, but I wish they would just take the hit and put them in the show more. Their avoiding the Direwolves is awkward at times, like if I remember correctly in Season 1 when Jon Snow left for The Wall Ghost was nowhere to be seen in those shots. He just randomly showed up when they needed him.

I have to say I didn't like this season. You could only watch the last 5 minutes of each episodes and not miss anything. All the great action they could spend on little longer, they just drove through. Not fun.

Except for the other 55 minutes....

I mean, the series is not really about the action. Even in the source material if there were such a thing, most battles take place off page so to speak.

After the Blood Wedding ep, I've actually been going back through Season 1 and am enjoying it far more than I did the first time around.

You'd miss hours of character development. That's what this series is about, not 'great action'.

It's not the fights I want. I prefer the way the season 1 did things. The "action" occurred sometimes within the middle, so you could see the character development around it. Not everything has to be a cliffhanger you know...

You are somewhat correct I'll give it you even though no one else will. However this season isn't in the books yet so you're going to have to wait to say this objectively. Looking back S3 will be as good as S1 and S4 will be up there too I bet.

So far, I don't understand why so many book readers hype this as the best book in the series. There must be a buttload of progression and revelation in the last half of the book. This has been solid, very watchable television this season (in my opinion), but everyone I know who has read the books says of the source material, this is the best one. So they better bring it next season or I'll be sorta sad.

The fact that it's one book being split over two years probably slows down the pacing of the story significantly for series-only people.
