I want Microsoft to absolutely dominate every other game company in terms of giving an amazing presentation.

The drama would be incredible.

The majority of these threads that have been popping up over the past few days/weeks/months are laugh-out loud funny, but also at the same time very depressing. I'm on the verge of asking for a permaban, I don't want to be considered a part of this community anymore (not just GAF, but "core gamers" in general). A man chooses and all that crap... I'm really becoming too old for this shit.

Don't do it man. Just ignore it. I think it's safe to say at some of the comments are highly exaggerated, the rest is just people venting about what is some pretty terrible DRM if you're into building game collections that you enjoy playing years down the line or intend to pass onto someone.

the latest "spread the word" actually feels like a marketing thread. I don't think a thread to promote not buying a system is right at all.

anyway, it's all out of the way and the sony fans that were never buying it can go back to never buying it and we can look forward to the games now.

I want to see if this line-up can win me back. At the moment i'm planning pc only but could be swayed.

A good games show is a good games show and I hope they bring it, I hope everyone brings it at E3 - I want to be excited about next gen. Sadly even the slightest showing of Kinect or mention TV will turn some of GAF around fast.

Thought has crossed my mind a few times too.

Or CoD. That's why we need somewhere to have discussion on the games. Which is really what it's all about.

It has to be because I really dont want to believe the people posting in that thread really think it will make a difference. It's kinda resembles that silly Koney 2012 movement.

No offense but couldn't you guys just not post on NeoGAF if it bothers you that much?

I'm still excited to see the actual conference even if I have no intentions on ever buying a XbOne. Whether they bring it with exclusive megatons or train wreck further it'll still be entertaining and fun to watch. I'm interested in seeing how Microsoft intends to position itself going forward.

Just woke up and saw the news.

The policies seem to be not as bad as I thought but some points are still bad.
But there were also some positive news in it...for example that I can buy every game on release via digital copy.

It seems like the future of gaming will slowly change into a digital only market in my opinion....which has its flaws and advantages.

Asked this in the other thread as well, but:
So, what if I list 2 of my friends as family members. Will they be able to play my games for free at their own house?

True, but it wasnt always this way. There is a lot of blind rage that is going on here. Even the forza vs gt thread was more civil, and that was a thread made for trolling.

How do we know? You should ask Microsoft :P

But it if thats possible that would be reeeally cool!

While gaf is still excellent, the tone has changed a bit. It will be fine after E3 I bet, or maybe everything is on fire then, we will see.

Which would make Microsoft happy, because people will be more likely to tolerate Microsoft's future policies. If you accept one unwanted policy, what makes you think they will stop there? :)

To those saying they don't understand the 24hr check (derFeef), its simple; If such a system is not in place you can easily buy a game, install it in your system, activate it online, go offline and give the disc to somebody else or sell it. This way, if you stay offline without the 24hr check, you can buy a game and sell it, with no possible way to deactivate it from your system.

Living in a generation in which people freak out when they are not connected with their smartphones for even so much as 5 minutes, these reactions are mostly exaggerated.

True, my console is always connected to the internet. But if my ISP has a massive black out or something I have a brick sitting that that cost me 350 euros or more (just an estimate) that plays DVD's and blu-rays.

And because of that I don't think always online is such a good idea.

This could be prevented with a ONE TIME check also, which essentially would be like a key on Steam, but with the ability to untie the game from your account. Untie so that it is free again for a new activation, which would be required again on the new account.

you can't "absolutely dominate" nintendo's confirmed lineup this year no matter how hard you try

He wasn't talking about dominating the 3DS.

Policies insisted on by publishers, you mean?

I don't care anyway, I don't buy policy boxes. You can be upset about it till the cows come home but I'm under no obligation to sit on my thumbs while my friends play next gen Halo just because of the misplaced outrage on GAF.

It's absolute bollocks and the buck stops in three days when the games start raining in.

If your ISP blacks out for more than 24 hours a go then time for a new ISP.

I know, I'm also excited to see the games.

I'm just saying, Microsoft reserve the right to change the policies any time they want, so this is just the beginning if we accept it, which we probably will do. :(

Don't you mean next gen Halo TV show? :p

You still can do other activities than playing games.

It seems like everyone here is a 100% always online gamer who has no real life D:

Sony's lineup is going to destroy Nintendo's. Another Mario Kart or Smash Brothers is not going to be exciting.

How about we just enjoy both lineups? Nintendo WILL have amazing games @ this E3 direct, 3D Mario is confirmed, 3D Mario is always excellent. Also do you really think Nintendo doesn't have surprises up their sleeves, they aren't simply gonna give up like some people think lol.

Sony will be the most epic in many years, Versus will be there, console will be revealed, there will probably be some epic surprises.

Exciting times for all consoles.

They will be exciting, just to a group of people that is getting smaller each year. Nintendo did more to shrink their core audience with the Wii than any competition from Microsoft/Sony has managed.

Nintendo has always been its own worst enemy.

Im not excited about seeing the same games ive been playing for decades. Im past the point where i mark out for new Zelda or Mario. Every Nintendo console is going to get a Zelda and Mario, show me something new.

It doesnt help that i just tolerated Twilight Princess and hated Skyward Sword.

Pubs would not be doing this if the manufacturers refused. Thats why MS os getting hated on right now. EA was hated for its drm crap remember.

Yes because a phone is now a gaming console? I don't even know what you were thinking when you made that comparison.

X, Bayonetta 2, SMT X Fire Emblem, Retro's new game, plus surprises are all possible games at E3 ND. Open your eyes. ;)

Also they always try to innovate every new 3D Mario and Zelda they are new in many ways. (I have a feeling next Zelda will be more open world, will have less focus on hand holding and more focus on exploration rewards, and of course it will be HD goodness! Also it's confirmed to have changes similar to paper Link in LTTP 2)

That would have been possible if the XOne was a purely digital download system. The fact that physical media is involved means that it can't work that way. What I mean is; even if the game is deactivated from your online or cloud account, the fact that it cannot connect to your console and deactivate the copy you have in your HDD means it needs you system to come online at least once in a 24hr period.

Not being following the finer details of all this. But can someone answer me this.

So even if I have a disk copy of an Xbox One game I can't go offline?

This is why I just avoid all those threads and subscribe to the decent ones.

You can go offline for 24 hours. 1 sec more and the console will implode and send nude pictures of you taken with the Kinect.

I don't know about dominate; because I expect both Sony and Nintendo to show some awesome stuff; but with 14 games being showcased (1 pre-show, 12 during conference, and 1 post-show); there is a good chance that we see some pretty cool new stuff. (I am sure they are not all unannounced, but still should be good)

Woo, this is what I came to see ;)

2 needs to be Alan Wake and 1 Titanfall :P

Hope youre being sarcastic.

The online checks are one small part of the big picture. I think its the core DRM system that has people ticked off. Buying used, lending games, borrowing games, selling privately are all now tied into some poorly explained, highly sugarcoated system that gives the game publishers more power than some of us want them to have and gives them the option to get even more money from us.

No offense but couldn't you guys just not post on NeoGAF if it bothers you that much?

Same. Im interested in the games they have to show. Quantum Break is intriguing and that rumor thread dropping stuff like Mirrors Edge 2 and an Insomniac title just makes me excited. If its truly about the games like they say, itll be a great showing regardless of the DRM stuff.

I think you are disproving your own point.
People don't like outages.
Now Xbox can have outages.
People start picturing Xbox outages.
Reaction is massive.
