Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

So now that that's said....which Digimon is going to be in Smash?

Wii U gets console characters, 3DS gets handheld characters.

Wii U: MARIO, LINK, SAMUS, FOX, CAPTAIN FALCON

3DS: KIRBY, PIKACHU, Isaac, Daisy, the alligator from Revenge of the Gator

I'd only be happy with exclusive characters if you can get the others on the other game by linking

People would want Agumon since he's like the Pikachu of Digimon.

But I prefer this guy.

And he already has an alt costume!

& now I'm reminded of Dream Mix TV World Fighters. Kid from Beyblade Vs. Optimus Prime Vs. Simon Belmont Vs. Bomberman.

....I need to import that one of these days.

Wait, he's in that game? I'm definitely going to have to play it now, I heard of Solid Snake VS Optimus prime, but even the kid from beyblade...

Battle Stadium DON is kind of fun, although I wish you could make the controls exactly like Smash.

Whacky roster too. Konami has Solid Snake, Simon Belmont, Twin Bee, Power Pro-kun, and Gradius Moai. Hudson has Bomberban, White Bomberman, that guy from Adventure Island, Yugo the Wolf, and two characters I'm not familiar with (according to wiki, Momotaro and Sengoku Manjimaru). Takara Tomy has Optimus Prime, Megatron, Takao/Tyson, that Licca doll, and Microman.

My brother and I were talking about the trailer and came up with the most glorious idea ever for SSB3D:

Your Mii is a playable character, and similar to Mario Tennis 3D, you can equip different costume bits to affect stats/moves/abilities. Then your personalized Mii gets saved into Street Pass and can be exchanged with others.

When you get a Street Pass, it pulls up the silhouette of the incoming Mii and says "A Challenger Approaches" and then you have to battle them. If you win, you unlock their Mii to play as too. If you get subsequent Street Passes with the same person, the computer AI level goes up a difficulty level each time as well.

I'm so fond of this idea that I'm going to be crushed when it isn't actually implemented :'(

Miis weren't considered fitting characters for Brawl, so I don't think there's any chance we'll see them appearing now.

Pac-Man will be in. Count on it.

It would be awesome to see Mario, Sonic and Pac-Man in the trailer actually.

No it wouldn't... Pac-man would be a horrid choice for smash... Pac-man's history has almost nothing to do with Nintendo, at least Sonic was bitter rivals with Mario.

There are much better Bandai characters that could be used instead.

I think at this point the only 3rd party characters I'd be OK with are Sonic, Mega Man, and Pacman. Outside of that I don't think anyone else really screams "Classic Nintendo" to me.

What? Pac Man has been on plenty of Nintendo systems.

I think he has a very viable chance of getting in, as many consider him an icon worldwide. Also because Namco is working on this game.

I think people forget that the smash roster is very conservative (Sakurai obviously doesn't want too big of a cluster of a roster judging from the past iterations) and try to go wild with character choices. I've even seen people want Tony Hawk in the game on the internet (lol).

Realistically; I see only Pac Man, Megaman, or both joining as a third party addition to the roster. But we'll see I guess.

Pac Man is even more boring than R.O.B for a fighting game.

On another note, they should have gotten ROB 64 to be a playable character.

That's right Sakurai, mantidor doesn't care about MG so you better listen to what he wants! It's his/her childhood that matters, not anyone else's!

I'm being facetious :P I do want Simon Belmont and Megaman very much, much more than even Pacman.

Pac man with limbs feels wrong you know, I agree with the assist trophy option, or a stage, not with him being playable.

All right, I can make sense of Bomberman in being Smash and the kid from Beyblade.

Snake was in that Konami brawler as were those two characters.

Kojima's son ends up saying to him "Father Kojima, Father Kojima! please ask Lord Sakurai to put these characters in the next Smash!"

He nods and Sakurai agrees because Kojima agrees to let Sakurai use the Fox Engine for the next Smash and the rest is history.

Why? Snake is from Konami too.
Well, there's a very high chance of Snake not returning due to Kojima not putting Metal Gear Solid on Wii U, which could lead to Konami in general not supporting the system much.

Konami also doesn't seem to care much about the IPs they got from Hudson, outside of sparse Virtual Console releases.

Isn't this literally how the Boktai-Battle Network crossover came to exist?
