Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

Awesome news. I'm calling it now, Snake won't be in it this time around. Hopefully we get Shulk though if only for the stages. There are so many places in Xenoblade to could make for awesome battlegrounds.
 
I'm just going to re-post my theoretical Agent J moveset from yesterday because A) It got buried in the hype rush and B) I'm disappointed in the amount of naysayers who think the EBA wouldn't work as characters ;P

I love it, I really do.
It just makes me all the more disappointed that it wont be happening.

In the off chance it did happen I wonder how they'd handle the whole Ouendan thing, clone characters?
 
I'm very excited for this game. I hope it has as much content as in Brawl, that was ridiculous. I never got through it all. Just give me brawl with hd graphics, new characters and no tripping and I'm a happy guy.

Also, really hoping they keep in classic levels from the old games. The hyrule castle level from I think it was the second smash game is the best smash level ever created. The music is also godly.

I don't own a pro controller but will definitely be buying one for this game.

EBA can be faster and lighter, while Ouendan are stronger and manlier.

I have to ask though; does Nintendo own the EBA/Ouendan brand, or did iNiS take it with them when they decided to start making crappy karaoke games for the Xbox? I'm trying to mathematically calculate the chances of either squad making it into the game :3

Summons the cast of Mario Bros 2 to throw an egg into a box. This will power up B Side. They can be knocked away by opponents, but if they run into an opponent they'll chuck the egg at them.


B Up: Wii Shopping Channel
Summon a ? block underneath Bag and retro Mario will jump from the bottom of the screen to hit it giving Bag a boost. Mario will damage anyone he hits.

B Side: Present
Throws a small present from within itself at the opponent. If it connects the present opens and a random game icon will pop out inflicting damage based on the game.

B Down: Demo
On the ground it will jump in an arch, if in the air it will slam down.

Tries to land on the opponents head handles down so as to cover their face with its body. Will keep giving them damage for the next thirty moves.

Final Smash: 3DS eShop
The washing line appears at the top and then the baubles skim across the screen dropping at random intervals. Bag hides behind a box in the background and it lasts until the game has downloaded i.e. enough baubles have filled the box.

I can get behind that clone setup.

Well for what it's worth EBA and Ouendan have both stickers and trophies in Brawl so I assume Nintendo have a significant hand in holding the franchise itself.

I didn't intend for anyone to take it that literally.

Capcom have a long storied history with Nintendo, and could have been considered a second party to Nintendo at a point and time. If any third party dev is deserving of having a rep in Smash, it's them more so than mostly any other studio.

Even with the Wii U woes, Capcom still doesn't seem overly hesitant to support it.

I hope this is the last in the series for a while. Remember when super smash 64 came out? A new IP it was fucking great but now i feel its getting worn out and already reached its peak. Now its more about these fanservice character lists and not about the games idea i feel like.

I want more great game ideas and not this sequel shit. Seriously this fucking omg character list shit is so dumb to me.

I don't care much about the roster, since I feel like each game in the series has been in a consistent improvement in that reagrd.

But it's hard not to cringe when people say Bayonetta should be in it. I also feel like even after Brawl came out people still complained about the roster even though it was a vast improvement over Melee's. So there's no point in trying to make everyone happy since there will always be people with unrealistic expectations of a roster.

The games are fanservice in terms of not only the roster, but content. It was always this way, the music, stages, unlockables, and so on. To some people that fanservice matters just as anything else.

Anyway, I think you'll get your wish, every Smash has brought fresh ideas to the forefront. Lets hope Sakurai and company can make everyone happy. Or a good amount of people, since there's the "always disappointed crowd".

They need to nail the online and then it doesn't matter if there are any more.

But until that happens, the series is incomplete.

Very true.

Online first and foremost, as much shit people give Playstation All-Stars, it has some of the best online I've seen in a fighting game. Lag is still there at times, but input lag is pretty minimal, and usually finding good matches aren't hard. I haven't played that game in a long ass time though lol.

What's Namco's resume look like when it comes to online/netcode and whatnot?
 
Alright, if Megaman is in (X, Zero, Volnutt etc don't count) I will buy a WiiU and SSB. Hear me, Nintendo?
 
I was never on the whole "put Mega Man in Marvel" train but I would like him to be in Smash. Honestly, to me it seems like a better fit anyway.

I also think it'd be great to see Protoman make a return as well. He's always been my favorite character in the MM universe after the first time I heard the whistle tune in MM3. It never left me.

Also smash is released every console generation, I do see exactly what peak you are talking about here.
 
For the love of god Sakurai, please make both version independent, I don't want a gimped WiiU version thanks to 3DS. No cross play bs pleeeeeaaaase, I don't want another PSASBR D:

A melee port to the 3DS with online would be lovely imo.

Worn out? This is the fourth one.

I think Nintendo really does these types of games very well. Kart, Smash, and many other of their franchises. One per generation of hardware.

Also, as The Great Mighty Poo said, we need to get one with decent online.

I don't understand the objection. I play MK7 online. Maybe 1 or 2 people out of 8 are using a Mii character. I always use Wiggler. Plus, in Smash, it's just going to be one moveset out of 35-40. And Miis do represent a pretty large IP for Nintendo. What's the problem with them?
 
Why would it automatically be a bad thing? Plenty of interesting stuff for a moveset. Perhaps a dynamic moveset based upon the weight class of the Mii you choose. It allows people to brawl as themselves, or funny celebrities/whatever. As long as the character plays well, what's the problem?

I kind of understand the desire to keep it pure and only involve unique and recognizable characters from specific IP, but I don't think it would ruin the game

Considering how the Mii weren't considered fitting to be added in Brawl, I don't think we'll see them here either. They aren't bigger than before or anything. We might get the WiiSports Resort island as a stage with some Miis in the background, but I think that'll be it.

Brawl had some obvious aspects that could be improved, like the stage creator, online play, story mode... Yeah, people mostly speculate about character lists, but that has been going on since Melee was announced. It's not proof that the series has nowhere to go.

There have been 3 Smash Bros games over the course of 14 years. And we probably won't be playing this new one until 2015.
