Sony almost always has the funniest conference.

That one time where Kaz called out Jack for using a tie and then Jack saying how he should tease him with a Ridge Racer joke was awesome.

No free online. Calling it now.

There were a few alleged insiders on here that are reportedly relaibe with things in the past saying that they've heard it would remain free. If he's referring to some tears, I would guess it would have to do with used games and/or DRM stuff. Still that poster hasn't been verified as being reliable yet so it might be nothing.

If it's good news they could mention it during the conference I guess.

If it's not so good news it'll come up afterwards in interviews. Hopefully if it comes to that they're a bit clearer than Microsoft was.

Even if they don't talk about it in the conference doesn't mean nothing.

Sadly, what sony is doing with drm is the one thing no super credible insider has talked about,

Nah, I honestly don't think Sony would be that stupid at this point. It will be online passes and paid online at worst. If it is worse than that they piss away a mountain of goodwill.

I dunno, CVG tweeted that they heard a rumour that he's going to come back as "VP of Pre-Owned Games"...

That would be absolutely incredible if true. Microsoft would be so pissed if they just started playing and poking fun at their awful built in restrictions.

EDIT: Dangit, this thread moves to fast, just a joke.

Cross-game voice chat was going to be an initial PS+ extra up until slightly after the European PS+ websites went live. Everybody keep your fingers crossed.

Cross-game chat in PS Vita is a OS thing and has nothing to do with PS+ why would be different in PS4?

Yesterday Kagari was saying the latest they've heard is online play is still free.
And BruceLeeRoy confirmed.

When I see / hear Reggie, all I can think is "Former Senior Director of National Marketing at Pizza Hut"

He's a big-time corporate suit.

Reggie worship makes me ill.

Today has been a fun day. Really nice weather, relaxed atmosphere at the office, enough free time for me that I've just wasted away drinking Lucozade/Coke, annoying my PA, and randomly calling people then putting them on conference. That last part was kind of messed up, I admit, but still pretty fun. And last but not least, MS continues to provide an incredible amount of entertainment. You can't fault them for that now, can you? Plus, I received a lot of gifts from Big Boss. A nice thick document I've been waiting for, some nice tech stuff, and my new phone actually arrived! So slick.

All in all, a really productive day.

Now, for the first time in ages, I have a weekend with nothing to do. So, I'm going to go to the beach, then come back and finally play The Last of Us, the so called game that can potentially dethrone Uncharted 2 from its throne atop the generation (we'll see though I am expecting greatness from ND as always). A perfect weekend before the E3 event. I'll see you folks, along with your buckets of tears I'm sure, on Tuesday. Or is it Monday? Next week basically.

Three days until Judgment Day. Don't hurt yourselves Sony GAF.
See ya then, bro. Be sure to keep us posted!

...

...

(The fuck was that?)

There a good chance they will address potential DRM during the conference?
I can't see Tretton mentioning the subject "Used Games" or "Digital Rights Management" during the press conference, but he may obliquely say something like "Sharing (i.e loaning) games is important and we believe we should not get in the way(i.e DRM)".

Anyway the games press will grill Sony afterwards and they know what questions to ask now that MS has outlined their policies. So more than likely we're going to know one way or other by the end of E3.

Guys I can't take this. Y2Kev seems to think only disappointment is in order while we have others hyping us up. Please someone give me some reassurance!!

We need someone to act as a moderating influence and keep the hype at a manageable level lest we overhype and meltdown post-conference on Monday.

Just before the E3 where PS+ was announced, cross-game chat on the PS3 was solidly referenced by a couple insiders as being one of the perks. It even showed up on a list of benefits on several European Sony websites as being a benefit (oddly, that bullet point was in English on sites that otherwise were in another language).

I'm just saying that things can and will change at the last minute.

I dont know, they did address the hack after it happened. I dont think allot of people thought they would address that on stage either.

I could see them opening the show with Vita, start talking about Death Ray Manta(DRM), then mention how sorry they are that due to technical limitations they wont be able to bring it to PS4.

Not at all. Whenever he presents, I find him over-rehearsed, which in turn makes me think he is kind of insincere.

Reggie comes off like a machine. You could replace Microsoft Sam's voice with Reggie and no one would know better.

They had to address the hack. They aren't obliged to address DRM, but they most likely will. Sony knows who's watching this event, like they did with the PS4 reveal and unlike MS did with the XB1 reveal.

I don't understand Reggie at all. Really out of all the presenters during E3, I have the hardest time trying to analyze Reggie and understand if he's genuine or not. Genuine is too loaded of a word..I guess "cognizant" is a better word. He says with the straightest face, during every E3, "Hardcore gamers, we got you covered." He proceeds to show a couple of mainstream/violent games. Then he is super smug, "What did I tell ya?". The thing is that those are the only adult games coming out for the console, and I don't understand if Reggie really believes what he just said, or if he goes back in the green room and asks Iwata for a raise.

He probably gets on the phone and asks Iwata why he can't be a CEO like the other kids.

Tretton to open, passes to Cerny who takes the lead until the end.

Yeah, Tretton seems to always come in and do the "history of PlayStation" stuff. I believe he is the one always talking about the brand and it's success.

I would expect Kaz to actually show off the system/hardware. You know, it pops up through the floor on a pedestal with smoke and lasers and stuff. Then he holds it in the air or something, I love systems are revealed, all the flash pops from cameras and stuff. Its always kinda cool.

I would totally expect Cerny to show off the OS, more system features, and explain how DRM will work, if they touch on it at all. That could be something they release Monday morning, via a FAQ or an interview. OR, they really play up that the PS4 is totally different than the Xbone and show how all of the restrictions on Xbone do not apply to the PS4 (if that's even true).

I would just like to see them insert a game into a PS4 system, then eject it, walk across stage, insert the exact same game into a different PS4 system and say "Hey, look at that, your disc based games will work on ANY system."

The conference will be solid if not spectacular. Miniature Playstation flags for all viewers.

I like tretton.

I like him too. He always starts off a bit shaky and nervous, always. But he always has a joke or two and once he finds his way, is very natural. Nothing he really does seems too forced after the first 10-15 minutes, but I have always noticed he seems really nervous when he gets started.

Reggie's got a mafioso vibe that I really dig. Every time he talks at E3 and says stuff like "You will love our games!" I always hear this unspoken "Or else..." as he stares directly at the audience with those super intense eyes of his.

I imagine it's a rather intense presentation if you know that thousands may be watching, and that press will be reporting your words. But I agree with you and others that he comes off as affable and genuinely interested.

Reggie was really aggressive with Doritos Pope last year during a live interview. The pope was asking some hard hitting question, Reggie couldn't handle it and got pissed off. At the end of the day, Nintendo's online strategy sucked....

I might do that as well. I'm impressed with how nothing really solid has come out so far from any of the big three.

I think I'll join you. The Beyond: Two Souls leak last year pissed me off.
Yea I'm gonna go dark starting now, it'll be tough to stay off gaming side for two days but I guess I can put some time in the new book I got.

See you guys after the conference, stay leak free guys:D
