Because you know there could be long term implications .. anyway people have overlooked everything for short term gain so I dont see why this is new or surprising.

Well, since you asked, there is an actual answer to that question. It's because those people think that you are only giving a damn about yourself when the issue effects far more than you.

Take this NSA privacy blowback. It's a massive undertaking that effects people's rights. The reaction seems fairly small though compared to the number of people it touches. There are tons of people who think 'I'm not doing anything wrong, so I don't care if you invade my privacy. Just make your you get all those people with something to hide' It comes across as very self serving.

That is why they are so hellbent.

Yup, that about sums it up. They're wrong of course and should quit telling people what to buy.

Indeed, it's disgusting people are asking people to do something because in impacts the entertainment/luxury part of their lifestyle. By all means I don't mind charities making me feel guilty for not giving to the third world ect, but this is ludicrous.
