2013 Microsoft E3 Conference

If it didn't have all the DRM bullshit I'd be really excited for the Xbox One right now. Instead I'm just glad that Titanfall is on PC as well.

I appreciated the focus on games, but as such it failed to sooth any fears I have over the console by ignoring all the DRM controversy. £429 pretty much killed any immediate interest I might of had in the new Halo and Titanfall.

Removal of spacebucks, PSN+ style free games and Twitch live streaming are positives however.

For shits and giggles.

Incredible show, unbelievable amount of games and some intriguing ideas out of MS. Project spark looks so awesome. i really didnt want KI but it looks better than i anticipated. Price point is a little high but not in the range of ridiculous. They shouldn't have shown black tusks IP if they weren't actually gonna show it. I knew GAF would find a way to hate this even if they cant use the tired and true "KINECT, KINECT, KINECT, TV, TV, TV," wasnt even applicable to this conference. so downplay some good looking games. either way different strokes for different folks. Looking forward to Destiny at the PS conf tonight

Oh and Titanfall all over my face.

Underwhelming, uninterested in nearly all the games they showed. I thought that Rome game looked really cool up until they showed the combat. Saving Private Ryan in ancient Rome is a great concept. MGSV looked nice. Battlefield 4 I couldn't tell a damn thing about what was going on, similar to my experience with BF3. Other than Dead Rising 3 and Ryse, there was nothing really on show that screamed next-gen - nothing that took advantage of the hardware to do something new and interesting (DR3's quantity of enemies is the "new and interesting" thing here).

They went as expected. For XBox fans that'll buy this device no matter what, it surely was a good conference as it was one game after another. Seemed a little bit rushed because they had so much to show.

But looking at it from a wider view, I think it was a huge mistake not to mention the DRM/Used games problems. They don't want to talk about it. They want it to be accepted silently. That's their plan and that's what they're trying. But with 499$, I don't think it's gonna be that easy.

That was the first thing I thought if too... So ridiculous!

Also the poor NeoGaf servers... "NeoGaf is down for scheduled maintenance" Was the message I received for over 70% of the conference for me.

same hahaha and I really doubt that was scheduled XD anyways, $500 is to much for what I saw so far, migth be going PC + Wii U next gen, lest see what sony has to offer

Pretty great conference, I enjoyed seeing the games and I KNEW that KI would make an appearance. 499 is waaaaay too expensive.

Boxes were checked, questions were not answered. Not surprised by any of the reveals or the launch date/price. Glad to see MGSV. Dunno what else to say really

Fantastic conference, I really enjoyed watching all the new games I'll be playing on my PC and PS4.

60fps revolution was unexpected, but incredibly uplifting. Halo, CoD, and BF all being 60fps will hopefully set the standard that other devs will be forced to match.

Very true. I hope most of the exclusives (Ryse, Quantum Break) make it to the PC...

Very mediocre conference, disappointing overall.

+ Titanfall looks really cool. I think it would have been much better as a third person shooter though.
+ Halo. I know, just CG. But still, it's that Halo.
+ Dead Rising 3 looked nice. It looks like a game that could be really fun. Too bad it'll end up on PS4 too.
+ Killer Instinct didn't show anything special, but to finally see it was interesting.
+ MGS5 was very nice. I think it was silly to open with it though. It's a multi-platform game, and a lot of what followed was mediocre in comparison.
+ The Witcher 3 looked very nice. But again, not an exclusive.

- Ryse. This looks shit. QTE for the gameplay.
- Project Spark. Boring.
- Sunset Overdrive was sad to see as I can't understand what kind of game it's going to be. I think the original direction of Fuse would have been more impressive than this. Insomniac are better than this, so it's a shame to see. I hope they surprise us and deliver something good.
- £429 for the UK. Really Microsoft? Good to know you're setting yourself up for failure. $499 in the US isn't bad and I can see it gaining traction on that price.
- Forza was boring.

I can't remember the rest. I'm going to give it 5/10. Average conference with some interesting bits, but ultimately a very disappointing show for the start of the next generation.

For years we wanted E3 conferences focused on the games.

And MS brought that this year. Too bad the bad PR that is well deserved really brought down the excitement for the games. Add in the price point (nice to throw that in at the last possible minute), really killed the show for me.

The only game that looked decent was Dead Rising. And I'll believe that was all "in game" when I see it. Just underwhelmed, despite that it was arguably the most "game centric" E3 MS has ever done.

I think the most interesting thing for me was the cloud AI in Forza. Kind of reminded my of how you could build up an AI in VF4 Evo only with that replacing the single player AI in everyone else's games. I'd really love to see it implemented in next gen fighters.

I enjoyed the emphasis on games, specifically how 2-3 titles are focusing 60fps? That really was the highlight of the conference for me lol.

However, of the exclusive titles, only two piqued my interest. The first being "Titan Fall" and the other one being "Below". Everything else i need more time to judge and or looked generic to me. Kind of pissed that they did not clarify or at the very LEAST mention the DRM issue.

same hahaha and I really doubt that was scheduled XD anyways, $500 is to much for what I saw so far, migth be going PC + Wii U next gen, lest see what sony has to offer

same for me until some things change which will probably be never. I did like how they started the conference out showing support for 360. I'll keep purchasing for that etc. as well.

too expensive but

an excellent conference, game after game and looked brilliant. They also didn't flood Kinect rubbish, Makes me wish they'd do a non Kinect version for 50 quid less seeing as they have smart glass now. that'd be ace.

Not a very good price. It's a shame because the price could be drastically lowered if a Kinect didn't come with every box.

The only exclusives that I was interested in were Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, and Crimson Dragon (if they got rid of mandatory Kinect controls). Not enough to push me to get this $499 DRM-laden machine.

Using your cellphone to call in artillery support through the cloud, it's a next-gen airstrike.

Conference was pretty good, never liked any MS conferences in the past.

That was actually a pretty good conference, much better than in previous years.

~90% of games, good pacing, several announcements and new IPs, and some decent trailers (especially MGS V).

Not much for my tastes that would make me buy a Xbone anytime soon, though. Too many shooters, and I don't want to spend that much money on a console (my father might get one down the line though). Not that I expected otherwise anyway :lol

I wanted games to see and I got games to see. A solid conference. Price is somewhat high, but no 599$ at least. That's reserved for the PS4. I saw some MGS5 footage, that Dragon game, Witcher 3 and a new Killer Instinct were nice, and I don't except more. One of the better conferences from MS, in fact, earlier conferences were much more Kinect-focused and didn't show as much games.
I still won't buy it day one, not even year one or two, but I never do anyway.

So, no mirrors edge 2 (cboat wrong, banned?) no banjo, no rpgs, no crackdown, no price cut for 360, DRM, always online, and 500 bucks.

It was an okay conference. But, I wanted some variety and diversity. Disappointing.

Edit: and still no female protagonist. No beyond good and evil 2.. *sigh*

Only things remotely interesting to me were Metal Gear and The Witcher. Was utterly bored otherwise. They certainly didn't do anything to get anywhere close to me forgetting about the DRM bullplop. Especially at $499.

Turn Ons:
Dead Rising 3
D4
Titanfall (dat Metroid Prime-like double jump) - probably won't even end up playing this but I like the active chaotic looking gameplay and visuals, could be a big hit

Neutral:(just games I'm not interested in)
Killer Instinct
Forza Motorsport 5
Battlefield 4
Sunset Overdrive
Below (slight interest here)

Turn Offs:
RYSE - cinematic game done wrong
Quantum Break - not sure this is even a game yet

The DRM nonsense will keep me from buying one. Maybe very late in the generation if there are enough still exclusive titles I want to play.

I liked that we heard talk about 60fps a few times. Hope it ends up standard for FPS and spreads to other genres from there.

I wonder if Sony will beat that price.

Amir0x was 100% right. Show a few games and everybody would forget the evil part and be all like "OMG so awesome".

I can´t honestly believe how anyone would say this was an awesome conference. Of course they showed great games, but most of the stuff was multiplataform. What´s the point on having the focus on games that your competitor will have?

I just don´t get it. I thought they had more exclusives and at least one or two megatons.

RSTEIN

Comics, serious business!
Take away the DRM bullshit and the bullshit price it was a helluva conference. Perhaps one of the best ever. My jaw hit the floor harder at $499 than PS3 $599.

A lot of games! Too bad they were mostly shooters and looked like high end current gen systems. Could this add more fuel to the fire that XBone was downclocked? I am seriously not impressed.

+ games! lots of games!
+ no real pitbull/dance central/kinect disaster
+ Announced the price

- 499 is too much
- Dead Rising is dead to me now
- attempt to move the spotlight away from the DRM and the Kinect madness
- Focus on the 360 for the first 30 min
- lots of multiplat
- I don't expect people to buy it.

and they're in a pretty bad position right now, if Sony announces the ps4 at 349$... oh boy...

Despite a few technical hitches, they had a great conference. That said, the only exclusive I think I will really miss is Dead Rising 3, which looks fantastic. I also give them props for finally making Gold worth it and the new 360 looks nice as well. No way do I want the One, though.

I still can't believe how expensive it is. Just unbelievable. I guess that next gen Kinect doesn't come cheap.

Well. I'm out. It's going to be the first Xbox console I'm not buying.

They were soooooo close to knocking this out of the park. Then they announced the price. £429 in the UK!? More expensive than launch PS3. Fuck off.

Awesome game lineup though. Also the announcement they're copying PS Plus with free monthly games with the Gold subscription is great. Still haven't made online play free, but at least the gold fee has some worth now. Like I said though, they completely destroyed everything good the conference did when they announced the price. Hopefully the PS4 price is more reasonable.

If this conference wasn't saddled with so much baggage, it would have actually been pretty decent. Liked a lot of the trailers and gameplay shown, revolved a lot around games and no feature BS taking up half of the conference. A bit sparse on actual gameplay when compared with "in-engine graphics" and CG.

However, the price and all the DRM stuff made me really skeptical. I liked what I saw, but not enough to make me forget about these two aspects. Balls in Sony's court for now.

Sounded like a great conference, I'll try to watch it some time tonight.

I understand the issues with the DRM, I share them as well, but I can't believe some people here. After all the, rather common on GAF, talk about MS giving up on the core gamers, it's a shame some people won't give credit where it seems to be due. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong since I haven't seen it yet, but some of these games (such as Witcher) sounds like reason enough to be excited.

Fuck MS though for making Crimson Dragon a Xbone exclusive.

The good news: Not a single japanese dev except Konami.

They're all rooting for Sony this gen. Right, right ?

Please don't do this. It's bad enough that people are already willingly taking part in this next gen "war" the last thing we need is the publishers to be doing the same. I don't want publishers taking sides in this industry since I want to enjoy as many games as possible and that doesn't happen when publishers take sides.

Worst part of the conference was that there was no Fallout 4. So unless Sony pulls QUITE a rabbit out of its hat, I think it's clear that it's a Q4 2014 game at the earliest, and probably Q1 2015.

A very good conference stacked with games. Better than I've seen in a long time.

Price too high though, but overll not the Kinect fest I feared and impressive.

Well. I'm out. It's going to be the first Xbox console I'm not buying.

The price is about where I expected ($449).

Really surprised they did not announce a subsidized price with a 2 year subscription to Live.

These guys on IGN are just blatantly trolling regarding the bad MS press they've received (Your gonna buy it!).

The best conference they've had in a loooooong time. Too bad their ridiculous DRM policies are overclouding their presentation.
