DriveClub (Evolution Studios/PS4) announcement trailer. [PS3 WHEELS ARE SUPPORTED]

Looks good but the steering animations look very jerky. Could be smoother (more like GT5).
The sort of thing I'm willing to put down to an early build of the game. Some things you see in previews you just know will be in the final game... that's definitely not one of them at all.

Niiiice... So Patrick from Giantbomb did an interview with a Sony guy for 25minutes and asked on twitter for question to ask him. I asked him to ask about 3rd party ps3 controllers like Steering Wheels or Fightstick and the guy said:

If they are usb I'm gonna say that they are likely to work. I can't confirm it right now, I'll have to check but I mean, it's the logical choice isn't?

Really need to know (I'm sure we'll know by launch of course) but what's the deal with free PS+ version?

Why should I preorder a hardcopy if the game is free on PS+...

Graphics are great, not jaw dropping but great for a launch title.
But no damages? Are they taking bad hints from their internal cousins at Polyphony? :P

Mmm, looks really beautiful. And that guardrail deforming after that hit...really nice.

Man, I swear ANY racing game I want to see gameplay from is usually done by a guy who's never played a racer before. :p

Eh? There was a good bit of damage on the bumper and license plate when he took that side hit.

You mean the paint scratches in the endgadget video?
It seems like damages are really toned down. I wanted to see something like Grid 2. Maybe I got the wrong expectations.
In any case I'll try the game thanks to Plus.

Edit: Just saw the pic you put in, it is what I was referring to.

So DriveClub is 60fps game eh!
The video that's hosted is 60fps. I can't see that video from work, but that might just mean that Blim's taken it at a higher rate so there's no interspersed frames with the camera taking the footage.

And I thought it was confirmed 30fps?

I'm guessing PGR4-style damage. Enough to be noticeable, but won't be massive enough so people ask "Hey, my bumper's missing, how come it doesn't feel like it?". So broken mirrors, shattered glass, maybe slightly displaced panels, but I think that'd be it.

I think the guy just sucks. Visually it looks pretty good
I thought he was doing it specifically to test the damage. Maybe not.

PS. I don't know how big that video is on Gamersyde, but any chance of someone rehosting it so I can have a look (I'm at work)? YT doesn't support 60fps, but I'd like to try and see for myself...

I don't think they have confirmed it, but probably

Holy christ at the graphics.

lol at " graphics are not mind blowing but nice " what other racing game looks as good as this? forza 5 lighting looks like a cartoon in comparison imo.

I'm amazed you can make anything out through all that compression.

Stream says file does not exist and download speed is slow as a snail. Blim!!

Darn I downloaded it before it vanished.

I just saw the video and I realized that it's an off-screen capture. Thus the recording device runs at 60fps. Looks like the game may yet be 30fps (no prob for me).

I'm almost suspecting it could well be 60fps (but like you, no issue with 30)... the description of the video says "Let's continue our driving games session, with the promising DriveClub, still in cockpit view and at 60 frames per second". Sounds like they're talking about the game and not the video, but it's too ambiguous.

This game looks the worst out of all next gen racers shown so far. I put my preorder on this game, about to change that tomorrow.

Watching that video (on my iPad 3) I'm pretty sure the game itself is running at 60fps. The timer definitely is (which isn't a giveaway) but there are a lot of stuff going on that moves far too quickly and without blurring to indicate a lower framerate.

If they've managed to pull off what they have at 60fps... holy fucking shit. Not that 30 isn't at all impressive with those visuals, but christ on a bike. Wow.

They say opinions are never wrong, but I think you're the exception to the rule. No way this looks worse that FM5.

I played Driveclub today in between meetings, and while it looked good, Forza looked smoother, cleaner, and a greater leap forward compared to racers this gen. These compressed online videos may tell a different story, but I trust my own eyes. To Drive club's credit, the demo had a 35 percent complete, prealpha label.

The PS4 controller felt great though. The extra length on the handles make the grip more solid and substantial. Also, the PS Eye was refreshingly unobtrusive, very thin and incognito.

I can't comment on it myself, but some journalists from gamekult (best french gaming site) weren't impressed either. A couple of them went on to deplore the aliasing and the texturing...

I saw the gamersyde forza video and it looked hot as hell.. driveclub, looks nice in trailers but probably will need to see more, then again both games are a way away from release still.

DC looks much better than Project Cars

This is project cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKmnOlXM3F0 ..nothing on DC even going by that offscreen cam footage
I would say they're close, with PC probably being ahead. Those screens posted above are nice, but the straight gameplay footage didn't look nearly as impressive as the early previews. Also bear in mind that PC is still in pre-alpha. As good as it looks now, it's nowhere close to being finished, and even further from being optimized.

Do we have any more information on the "PS+ Edition"? Is is the same as the retail version, or will be cut down, like a "Lite" version? The fact that they're making a "special" version of the game for PS+ makes me think it'll be trimmed down quite a bit. Otherwise, they would have just said "Free copy of Driveclub".

is a lite version, there was a release and a thread explaining the differences.. but i think you can buy the extra stuff later for the ps+ edition
