Do you like what you've seen so far from Wii U's visuals?

A little better than current gen, which is about what I expected. The biggest surprise to me is some of the games are actually 1080p. I thought for sure they'd all be 720p. Mario Kart looks great in that off-screen video posted above that hides all the flaws but direct feed not so much, really bad jaggies and not that impessive character models. X looks a little better than current gen. I'm not nearly as impressed by this as some are. The art style and cool mechs are clouding judgment on its technical aspects, in my opinion.

I think the fact that there's a couple games shown that already look on-par or better than most of current gen is a good sign. The higher res is a nice surprise.
 
For Nintendo, yes the graphics look great.
Compared to the PS4 and Xbox One games... ummmm

Mario Kart U, Monolith X, and Smash Bros U looked beautiful, but I wish they'd utilize the potential of the Wii U more. I can see that the Wii U has power after seeing that Zelda trailer a long time ago, Nintendo just has to try to dig deep into it.
 
When I saw how high quality Mario Karts graphics were, I really was entertaining the notion that Retro developed it.
 
Mario Kart impressed me. Can't believe they're shooting for 60FPS in 2 player split-screen. Wii U's hidden power is starting to unlock.
 
For what the Wii U hardware is, what they showed is perfectly fine. I still want Pikmin at 60FPS. How can they do all these games at 1080p 60FPS and Pikmin is 720 30. Im so pissed especially with how Pikmin 3 looks I want my 60FPS =( I actually think it might be their only game at the show at 30FPS
 
They're definitely coming along. I'm with the consensus about MK8 and X being the best two from Nintendo visually. SSB still seems early in development, or that could also be due to the 1080p/60 target. But it would be third for me.

I also want to see more of Watch Dogs. The Wii U version seems to be holding up pretty good.

At their best, the games look somewhere past a quarter of the way between 360/PS3 and some of the decent stuff on PS4/Xbone. Or better than the very worst of the later.
 
Surprisingly I do actually. The relatively limited capabilities of the hardware do not seem to have an a detrimental effect on the cartoony look of Nintendo games. The character models in particular look very rounded and smooth with a CG-like sheen to them.

Nintendo dun good.

maybe its got something to do with the fact it hasn't been built from the ground up for the U, but just maybe
 
I think they're adequate. Looks a little better than PS3/360. Nothing really impressive graphically, but not unplayably ugly like the Wii.
 
About what I expected from the system, yeah. Above current-gen, but they aint gonna look like Killzone Shadow Fall or Destiny. I think they look very nice though. The 1080p/60fps status for a lot of 'em definitely helps. They're gonna look and feel really good in motion.
 
X looks stunning, for comparison I was expecting to be blown away by Dead Rising 3 and Infamous but I wasn't. I want 60fps high res videos of the other stuff!

X and Mario Kart 8 are serious lookers. X in particular is a major jaw dropper when you consider it's open world. Looks even better in the latest video.

Bayonetta 2 looks a little rough around the edges. Mario and Zelda WW won't win any awards but are fine for what they are. Smash Brothers needs more time in the cooker (which I'm certain it'll receive.)
 
I think they all looked fantastic. Mario Kart U surprised me quite a bit. The fact its 60FPS was icing on the very good looking cake

Very pleased to see Smash Bros is 60FPS and 1080p! Huge for me, personally. Looks great too.



That said, In this HD era everything looks mostly the same to me (honestly I cannot tell the difference between the current gen Madden 25 and next gen Madden 25...) so I'm not too tough to impress :P
 
X really seemed to give off that it could have been at the PS4 or Xbone conference vibe and people would still have applauded it's look and feel as one of the better looking games.
 
I must say I'm stunned by the responses so far. I expected a lot more criticism from the more visually focused tech experts.

Personally I've been more than happy with the system's visuals, but I have also seen a lot of people say they aren't impressed.

Just an observation, not interested in saying anyone is right or wrong.
 
To me it still show that you can have awesome graphics even with a not so powerfull system.

But yeah to most people nowadays what doesn't look like the best realistic graphics to date is complete shit.

I'm pretty happy with what I've seen.

Just a real shame that Mario 3D World doesn't push the tech in the same way that Galaxy did.
 
For a current-gen console a lot of what was shown today, given the 1080 resolutions and 60fps standards for a lot of games was actually really quite good. Good IQ goes a long way in something big and frantic like Smash and Mario Kart on a big HDTV.

On the other hand there's still an obviously huge gap between the Wii U and its competition. Considering how Nintendo currently isn't willing to competitively price the console (as opposed to how cheap the Wii was in comparison to the PS3/360), that's definitely going to become a big factor in what consumers go for this holiday season when there's only a $50 difference, Mario or not.
 
I expected a lot more from new 3D Mario.

I expected a lot less from Mario Kart.

I really like the clean look of all of the first party Nintendo games. Great IQ, and just pleasant on the eyes overall. Nothing outstanding or mindblowing like Galaxy was on the Wii though.
