Do you like what you've seen so far from Wii U's visuals?

My biggest complaint with the games I have and the games I keep seeing for the Wii U is aliasing and it always stands out like a sore thumb on PS3,360,WiiU after I've been playing a lot of PC games. Now with the next gen consoles, I imagine it will irritate me even more, but what can you do. Other than that, they look fine especially the games that don't try to look realistic

I'm disappointed to say the least, only games that looked good were X (couldn't care less), and MK8 (never liked Mario Kart), the one game i was anticipating was a huge letdown... Mario 3D World which looks like a Wii game with better IQ, and a horrible camera perspective.

Can they really not apply some decent AA given the relatively simple scene?

I know it may seem minor, but aliasing annoys me so much.

Mario Kart 8 and X made me yell out loud "OMG, that's looks so fucking good!!" (really).

And I LOOVE how Super Mario 3D World looks as well as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (HELL YES, my dream came true!!! :D)

Mario Kart 8 sure looks better than Racing Transformed (except for the water effects maybe, but to be fair I haven't seen MK8's water). It's probably the best looking kart racer I've seen.

These posts are just as bad as the ones claiming that the games looked as good graphically as PS4/XBone games.

X looks amazing. I'm not really concerned about visuals though, the fact that the U is actually HD enough for me. The Wii U needs software to sell me on it, and once Bayo 2 and X arrive it will be on my shopping list.

And read his post again, it's... wow:

That has to be some kind of bait post? Looks like I fell for it :lol :-/

Yeah that post is too much, but I think Wii U was able to show it can do a bit better than current gen.

Visually I'm very easy to please. The thing is it only has a handful of games I'm interested like X and Bayonetta 2, so I hope they'll have more games I'm interested.

They're much more than I need to be satisfied. I'd be fine if they dialed back the average visual level to PS2-quality as long as it had really clean images and a nice framerate.

Granted, I'm at the point where I'm actively turned off by games that use a higher level of technical graphical fidelity than they need to create the type of game they're aiming for.

I'm totally pleased with the visuals. As long as the games are fun, there's obviously sufficient power in the system for my tastes. I'll consider a PS4 to fill in any gaming gaps.

I know it may seem minor, but aliasing annoys me so much.

In such a fast game like Smash Brothers you won't even notice it during gameplay. Talking about nitpicking...

They look very nice. But they also more or less look firmly current-gen, so I mean... can't really be disappointed since you know what you're in for with Wii U by now, but they certainly aren't surprising me with their visuals or anything. They all look kind've like I expect them to, except 3D World but thats a stylistic thing as well.

Is that from Smash? They said it's pretty far from being release ready and the visuals will improve, they just wanted to have something to show.

Surprised at the smash reception, I thought it looked really good. Especially considering the visuals aren't even ready yet

most of it was in the developer directs, iirc

I actually watched all of the developer directs, and the closest they mentioned in terms of resolution was "HD". I know they mentioned 60FPS for Mario Kart. Obviously, I expect 60FPS for SSB as well, but I'm wondering where this information is coming from.

I thought everything looked pretty ordinary and comparable to current gen until I saw the floor show footage of MK8 and Bayo2. Bayo2 is moving so fast I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking it's not that impressive but anyone looking at MK8 and saying that looks like a Ps3 or 360 game has officially lost their mind.

Case in point...

Everything pretty much blew me away. Once I stepped back from all the negativity.

Mario Kart 8 looks insane. People expected it to look like that Mario Kart arcade game or MK7 in HD. Wrong. They outdid themselves. Textures looked great, really nice lighting and fast fluid 60fps if I'm correct.

People hating on Super Mario 3D World graphics. I thought they looked really clean and sharp. Really nice stuff.

After watching the extended trailer for DKC Tropical Freeze I'm on board. Graphics looked pretty good but the art direction, music and fluid gameplay looks amazing.

And X. Fucking X. Looks stunning. Dat soundtrack. Dat graphics. Dat mech. Super excited for it beyond belief.

But did you watch the E3 developer direct for it? Come back and tell me then.
For Pikmin 3? yeah I watched it. Its not an ugly game but visually its a mixed bag, I like the art direction and the wet forest area looks nice but other areas like 3:50 in the dev video don't look as hot. After seeing MK8, X and Bayo 2 today I'm sure a Pikmin 4 built from the ground up would look much better.

Yes, Mario Kart 8. Best looking game at E3. Bet you cant find a game that looks anywhere close. Every other title on next gen can easily be compared to some current gen stuff. I knew this would happen with Nintendo.

Mario Kart looks great... but come on... best looking game at e3? nothing comes anywhere close? every other next gen title can easily be compared to current gen? Man... let's just say our eyes see things very differently.

Its not fanboyism Im being honest. I cant have a opinion without being a fanboy? Please..can you show me a game that matches MK visually? I think my opinion is reasonable.

Go watch the MGS5 trailer for an open world game. Hell go watch some good footage of most of the PS4/One games. MK looks really good, but come on man fanboyism is the only way you could have made that statement to completely block out everything else at E3

MK8 looked amazing. Almost looks as good as the box-art on previous games. Stylistically reminds me a little of Sonic Unleashed.

Everything else looks sharp, but nothing to blow me away graphically. Smash Bros is actually a little bit disappointing visually, since Brawl did an amazing job. The new game mostly looks like a moderate up-res.

X still doesn't wow me except in the last two zoom-out shots.

I think we can expect the Wii U hardware to continue to excel at lighting.

I don't think I've seen anything from Nintendo (or anyone else for that matter) to convince me it's more powerful than current gen systems. This isn't a problem in itself, but there's nothing particularly amazing they've shown other than X. If they had more stuff like X - new IPs with a bit of an edge to them - and less cutesy platformer stuff then the system would be more interesting to me in general regardless of the less than mind blowing visuals.

They look like current gen games with better IQ. But they look good considering managed expectations.

Shhh!... your post will be frowned upon... they look nothing like that... or so they say.

But really... and M3DW is the biggest culprit here... and with the isometric view they should be able to cook up something more visually pleasing, if it were in a galaxy styled camera it would look even less impressive.

Comparisons plz. Yall doin alot of talking

Go watch watch_dogs

I have and they both look better than Mario Kart. I'm not going to continue this any longer just no that I'm pretty sure you are literally the only one who shares your opinion and should maybe look into other games outside of Nintendo systems. God I feel like i'm trashing MK now when I think it looks great

Spent most of the day at Nintendo's booth. There was a nice, clean look to everything they showed, but a lot of it also had that sterile feel that Nintendo has seemingly been going for in recent years.

I really felt that the best looking Wii u games today were the two platinum titles. Both games looked just beautiful. I hope we see more from platinum on the Wii u, because they are really figuring out how to get a lot out of it.

Mario Kart 8 looked fantastic too, but again there was that sterilized quality that's really always characterized the series.

I am pleased with what I saw from Nintendo's developers. Of course, I haven't grown accustomed to HD graphics yet, and I do generally prefer stylized visuals over photo-realism. I don't mind some low-res stuff and lack of graphical effects (though its always nice to have em included) so long as the art style is good. I have yet to see the Bayonetta 2 trailer, so I'll watch later tonight.

Lol jokes on you. I only play Nintendo games? I am 100% percent buying a PS4 on launch day just to play madden 25 like I did with 360 is that duderbros enough for you???

Also did you know watch_dogs is on Wii U? Watch the trailer.

Kart exceeded my expectations, but X was the only one that could conceivably be mistaken for a PS4 game considering the massive open world.

Watch_Dogs looked good, but are we sure it was Wii U footage?
