Oh lord.

What is that megaman hovering when he lands for the second time in that gif on last page?
Okay, reposting the gif because I feel like this got unnoticed and buried.

My Theory: Going by what's been assumed about his moveset, the second time Mega Man jumps, he does a fullhop back air. At first I thought the move was designed to act like Marth's back air and make Mega Man face the other direction after using it. However, looking at it closely, it's actually animated to end with Mega Man facing the same direction he started like most moves in the game. The whole animation finishes while he's in the air, so Mega Man won't be under the effects of landing lag when he lands, meaning he can act immediately. He lands facing the right, but he's holding left on the analog stick. Because there's no landing lag, it looks fluid as he keeps his momentum to the left. What happens next is something that's similar to Pivot Walking in Brawl, where you maintain your momentum as you turn around (and depending on your character, you may even get a boost). Mega Man then dashes by releasing left and then smashing the stick (again, momentum in play here, so his walk animation never really starts) and then jumps.

WFT memes > Villager memes.

Truth. WFT jokes actually are witty.

wow, good eye. Mega Man seems pretty broken from what we've seen. But it's super early, lots of balancing will probably happen.

When talking about Samus he talks about how she is based off of MoM (smh) and how they enhanced her look for Smash, but doesn't mention a single new move or ability that she has, yet the very next character he talks about is Pit from Icarus and he shows off 2 new moves!

So, what should I take from this? Samus gets nothing and is shit on? Cause that's how I'm feeling right now. :(
Who knows, she might get a new throw or something...

:(

at around 7:20 in the video, does it look like Samus roll is faster now? It did to me but at this point I'm getting desperate for something positive about my favorite character.
Looks as slow as ever. It's like Sakurai hates the morph ball; why else would Samus of all characters not have a crawl when in her suit?

Her charge shot charging speed does seem faster to me, although it's her missiles and normals that will make or break her. If her missiles have as much stopping power as they do in Melee, she'll be good; if they have as little stopping power as they do in Brawl, she'll be bottom tier (again).

Eh, more people care about Snake today than they do about Belmont. Switching him out would be dumb.

It's not about what's characters are more popular today to the general public, it's about awesome characters that played a big part in gaming that may have even been forgotten, and wtf characters like the Wii Fit Trainer and ROB.

If it was about that then many of the Smash characters would be gone.

Looking at this, and Mario Kart 8, I can't imagine what Nintendo would achieve with more power. These games look optimal, like they were produced by Pixar. Graphically, really impressive.

Mario's mustache may never be dynamically tessellated, but this looks pretty good.

Agreed. HD Graphics mixed with Nintendo's art direction is golden.

If Jigglypuff returns, her Final Smash should be putting everyone to sleep and writing all over their faces that does some kind of status effect or something just like my Pokemon animes.

Man, these new characters are just cold blooded. lol

"Bayonetta Climaxes into the fray!"

...what?

lol it's crazy enough to really work with Bayo.

I think Issac would be great, but I think a stage on top of one of the Lighthouses would be even cooler.

Better yet, it could split in four like Venus lighthouse when the Elemental Star is thrown in.

Never thought about that, would be a great stage. i still don't think Isaac has the best chances though.

Little Mac enters the ring

Best one for Mac. I can feel it happening!

Mega Man sounds great tho. i like what Sakurai says,

I have to give it up to Sakurai. This is a great quote.

Also, I like how he mentions that MM doesn't punch or kick much (he doesn't) and it really looks like he moveset reflects this. Very, very well done. Looks genuinely, lovingly crafted.

True, he seems to be having a lot of fun even after all these years working on Smash. Didn't he say even on his breaks he still finds himself playing the game? heh, keep making those new characters, Sakurai. And I hope this doesn't mean Bayonetta wont get a fair shot. She would be amazing with all these other characters, imo. Her moveset potential would make Sakurai happy. He can even work with Kamiya himself!

I was really hoping they'd use Link from the upcoming 3DS game, I like it a lot. This one... I really don't like him.

I prefer the detailed "realistic" look from the other smash games. It made them standout compared to their respective games.
While I like that aspect (Especially for some characters like Melee Bowser, who looked really unique at the time), Brawl could be kinda ugly to look at sometimes. It's just too desaturated and pale, which is why I really like the extra saturation this game will be bringing.

I don't care too much about the Wii U version. It's all about...

I ripped these out of the announcement trailer and cropped/resized to native 3DS resolution. Boys, this is what we're looking at. The best portable king of the hill simulator ever.

I really, really hope Pac-Man isn't in this. As far as characters go, he's pretty empty.

Don't force it Namco! :( Throw in a Tekken character instead or something.

O snap, Nice breakdown man. Now that you mention it, he does keep his momemtum when he turns. That is some buttery smooth game.play

Pac-Man isn't "empty." If they can make an amazing fighter out of Wii Fit Trainer, they're definitely creative enough to make an amazing Pac-Man.

Something neat for Samus players: While the third image on this page looks like her forward smash, it looks like they added an explosion to the attack that'll increase the range. So she might still have some new tricks up her (armored, non-existent) sleeve.

Also, I just realized something: Bowser's new moves and better posture come from the Wii Fit gal's training.

But a fighting game with Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man all duking it out needs to happen.

It's a retro fanboy's dream.
