Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

This was the best design idea Rare had on the DK days apart fro DK, Diddy and Dixie (and Cranky). Its a hundred times more charismatic than the tikis or the the vikings retro did :(
Hoping still he is the 4th player in torpical freeze. That would be amazing.

I agree with the last part of your post, but how you can compare the head-honcho of a baddie faction to the Vikings when we've only seen a few species of them and the first boss?

(That said, I think the Vikings so far are pretty damn cool.)

If you guys are adding non-mainline games then add...

vs. Primal Dialga, Temporal Tower, Theme of Wigglytuff Guild, Theme of Treasure Town, and vs. Palkia

...in fact, give Mystery Dungeon its own stage!

...in fact, remove Jigglypuff and instead replace it with Guildmaster Wigglytuff.

YOOMTAH!

and of course... Learn Typing: Boss Battle

So uh
1- Somebody explains these Villager is a homicidal maniac thing
2- Someone make more iamges featuring comic book, actors, WWE people, cartoons, other video games, Reggie, Chad Warden or manga/anime characters being in Smash, just for the fucking heck of it

Because it's too perfect. I can't get enough of this one:

Speaking of recent spinoff Pokemon music:

Love this

Gateway Colosseum - Pokémon Battle Revolution

Battle Revolution may have been bad, but it has some great music.

Ah, yeah, if we're including non-mainline games, Stadium's Vs. Mewtwo is incredible. Stadium 2 has this rendition of Vs. Champion, which is incredible and adds such a huge amount of menace to the theme. best rendition of it, in my opinion. Can't leave out Miror B, either.

Definitely agree, the Mewtwo battle in Stadium was one of the many highlights in video games for me. <3 Stadium games.

And yeah, both Miror B's themes are awesome.

I think they are better than the tikis, but no better to a race of cocodriles where the big baddie has an eye popping out and likes to dress in different themes.
And of how they showed the first boss in the trailer it looked like he was the bad guy, if he is not, I take that back and hope is something crazy.

Very cool. Having the speed of the game between Melee and Brawl sounds like a good compromise. And I hope the story mode is more like melee's. Trying to fit almost every character into certain scenarios would probably be a headache if the roster is getting closer to 50. I am happy to see them working on completing the full game and then working and then worrying about DLC. All I need is a couple more character reveals and Ill be a happy man.

I would be thrilled if SSB4's story mode at all resembled Kid Icarus: Uprising's. SSB is supposed to be a celebration of game history (okay, sure, mostly Nintendo's) and I think that kind of format would be perfect for the best kind of 'story' experience that Sakurai could ever shoot for, all the characters (and get as many original VAs as possible!) on the sideline as events progress lampshading everything would just be... oh man.

What's weird about Villager is that the Animal Crossing characters usually have a lot of emotions in the game, but with Smash they made him go insane.

I'm super happy we aren't getting anymore costumes for each character. It's what makes them unique and likable. I really don't like when people are messing around with characters.

Still hoping Sonic is in.

This makes no sense. Costumes are a great way to increase a game's longevity and a character's uniqueness. The thing a lot of people want aren't pointless accessories added to the characters like a hat or whatever, but in fact different versions of that character. The easiest to explain would be Samus, so her default is a suit based on her Other M incarnation. Why not have costumes that show her throughout her other games and other suits? The Varia suit from Prime or Super Metroid, Phazon suit, Fusion suit, it just goes on. Alternate costumes made in this way are a way to show a character's history, it's always fun seeing like oh man look at this new form I wonder where it's from why does it look like that? You go find out more about the character.

As for other characters being somebody's alt. costume that is just an easier way to make everybody happy without having to allocate resources required to make that character playable. So for example, instead of making Falco either a clone or semi clone again, just make him an alt. costume to Fox. They already had the same moveset in Melee, and basically the same in Brawl. People will like the fact that he's back but they won't need to use resources to make an entirely separate spot for him that could be used for other areas of the game or something.

Sakurai's insistence on not adding alternate costumes to preserve "uniquenesss" are exactly one of the reasons why I dislike the man. He just doesn't understand why that is just awful reasoning, when it seems so blatantly obvious that alt. costumes could actually make a character more unique and expand each character's and their representing series' history. Easily affecting the chances of somebody becoming more interested in Nintendo other Nintendo franchises.

About Sonic...

With the way Capcom has been hell bent on killing anything Megaman off it must have taken some serious convincing to allow his use for Smash Bros. Which makes me believe if Nintendo wanted Sonic to return (and they probably do since he's got to be one of the most requested returning characters) then it really wouldn't be nearly as tough an effort as Megaman was considering the whole 3 exclusive Sonic games deal.

I mean you never know for sure, but I just really want to have Mario, Megaman, and Sonic all in the same game. :(

This waiting and unsureness is going to kill me.

Some 1600x900 wallpaper I whipped together, with shots of the three newcomers, in reverse order of how they were revealed, plus my favorite veteran:

It's a PNG, but seems a bit pixelated via IMGUR. What's a good alternative solution to avoid pixelation?

Abload.de or Minus.com. I forgot that Imgur even compressed pngs by converting them into jpgs.

The alternate costumes that they were talking about in that conversation were nothing like what you're saying there. You're talking about preset alternate costumes based on the characters' history - Basically extra colors that also change the models, based on established looks, without any player input. The interview reply was about customization and what it'd be about. They asked if they'd be costumes, and Sakurai denied that. You know, custom costume, giving random hats or jackets to the characters in the 3DS game and somehow transferring that to the Wii U. That's what got denied for killing uniqueness.

We don't know if standard/preset alternate outfits will be in the next game or not, but, if they aren't, the reasoning has nothing to do with that question. It's a completely different subject. People are jumping on it because the word costume was used, while completely ignoring the context.

Wouldn't it be the other way around? Capcom currently doesn't care about Megaman, so it wouldn't take much to convince them to let other people use him.

I don't think so. There was originally going to be a scene in Wreck it Ralph with Dr. Wily but for some reason he was removed. I can only assume Capcom wanted anything Megaman removed.

Did anyone manage to grab the daily picture with Megaman and Mario? I've been flipping through the thread but don't see it anywhere.

I see, thank god then. I don't really mind if random clothing accessories aren't allowed in because of killing uniqueness, not that I actually care one way or another about this particular kind of alt. costume or customization, but if he were talking about what he did with Wario in Brawl it'd just be irritating.

Did Sakurai post a new pic on Miiverse yet?

Nope, It's Saturday! (No pictures on Saturday and Sunday)

Why do you all think that we will have almost 50 characters this time? Was it confirmed somewhere?

All rosters' numbers were speculated, but no confirmed numbers. I would love to have 49 characters slots and one random slot but I'm not sure if it's possible now. I would be happy with 45-50.

Look great. I felt that Bowser should be newcomer due to his revamped moveset and running style. It's like he finally unleashed his real power and cause the real chaos for this time! :P

There's actually one different expression where he trips.

Well, have we saw him getting hit by opponents?

I really doubt that Capcom is actually hell bent on killing Mega Man. I think it is a case where they just honestly don't know what to do with the franchise. Truth be told, Mega Man wasn't exactly on a great trajectory prior to Inafune's departure from Capcom. While we got a lot of good games, the franchise was on a gradual downward spiral in terms of sales and relevance. The series is somewhat torn between older fans who only ever played classic Mega Man and X games, and newer fans who grew up playing Mega Man Battle Network. Likewise, it is hard to market 2D platformers these days (just look at fans calling the Donkey Kong game a "waste of Retro's talent"), but doing anything else with the franchise is uncertain territory.

The future of the Mega Man franchise is uncertain, but I wouldn't ascribe the cause of that uncertainty to active malice. If anything, I would imagine that the people at Capcom were enthused about putting Mega Man into Super Smash Bros. If they do want to do a revival of the franchise, particularly in its traditional form as a console 2D platformer, then using Smash Bros. as a medium to advertise the character to a new generation of gamers is a smart move.
