Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Wouldn't it be the other way around? Capcom currently doesn't care about Megaman, so it wouldn't take much to convince them to let other people use him.

It has to do with how controlled the franchise's usage is, but it usually works the other way round. When companies put a franchise to rest, they prohibit every and any use of its properties. When they want to promote it in their lineup, they are more than happy to provide it for big events like Super Smash Bros.. Both cases are ways of controlled use of an IP. Making people forget or miss something can pay off big time on the long run; likewise, showing off its prominence by including it in something bigger or universally respected is good publicity.

Remember the characters in Wreck-it-Ralph, for example? Originally, Dr. Wily was also to be featured, but got pulled off in the end.

Edit: Wow, beaten by the same example.

Seeing how they've toned down Mario's super detailed dungarees and that he and Bowser seem more in line with their main game counterparts I have to wonder...
Will Mario smile again now? he's such a happy chap in the platforming games, gleefully flipping off flagpoles and such.
Yet in Brawl he's what me and my friends dub ANGER MARIO, his brow is a constant state of furrowed, his victory poses have him staring aggressively at the screen whilst panting heavily as if to say that his bloodlust has not yet been satiated, when he loses his claps in the background while staring straight up daggers, how very insincere.
His taunts imitating powering up, his own death and celebratory hat removal all have the same expression, Brawl Mario is like a version of Mario who's had enough of this shit, too many times he's played the hero and now he's just resentful.
Melee Mario sort of forced the odd smile but Brawl Mario? i've never seen the man so hostile looking.

Mario usually does have a determined face though.

That just further exemplifies his psychopathy. He only expresses concern for his own well-being.

Psychopaths generally have less concern for their own well-being than non-psychopaths.

He's clearly acting so as to give his opponent hope. Hope that he will then take away, for the lulz.

He int smiling because he is determined to win this fight.

This is one thing that annoyed me about Mario's portrayal in Brawl, particularly in SSE. The guy is usually so happy when he's adventuring that it seemed weird to see him so serious.

Edit: Also, I'm happy that Mario, DK and Bowser seem more in line with the main games, the last two especially. Now if they could get their proper voices it'd be swell.

There are different types of psychopathy. I think you're thinking of a sociopathy.

What're the odds that Bowser gets some new moves based on Bowser's Inside Story? I want to say his new stature is taken right from it but I'm probably imagining things.

Someone explain this to me:

There will be a single player [campaign], but it won’t be like the [Subspace Emissary] mode in Brawl. One thing we can do with the Smash Bros. series that’s unique to us – because we have all these different disparate characters brought together – is we can create that sort of fan-movie experience as a special gift. But now those things are posted on the internet, it doesn’t really become a gift for people who played the game. What we decided this time around, we’re just going to have [those movies unlocked] from the beginning. We’re going to have a movie for Wii Fit Trainer, The Villager and Mega Man and they’ll be viewable right at the beginning, you can watch those right away

That's Sakurai to Polygon about the new single player mode. What is that even supposed to mean? I was hoping for a new attempt at something SSE-ish, but better. Guys I'm sad.

I always thought it was funny that King DeeDeeDee was
voiced by Sakurai in Brawl
but sounded like a
conniving black dude on that Saturday morning Kirby cartoon
. Lol.

Uh, black dude?

His voice was basically Foghorn Leghorn, in other words he had the stereotypical "rich southern white man" voice.

It's good Sakurai is not ashame of retooling characters which he thinks need tweaking. Brawl was too conservative in this regard. Another character in need of a revamp I think is Donkey Kong. He also would benefit an higher stance like Bowser, like he had in DK Jungle Beat. It would make him way cooler. His 360 spin move already seems somewhat different, anyway.

Don't look close at all given Bowser's limited flexibility IMO. The third is just his forward tilt from Melee anyway.
This is kind of stretching it.

He already has an established character from the previous games so it's not going to be like Megaman where there's 1:1 match between all of his actions from one game. I just think it's neat that his new stance just makes him look a bit closer in appearance to his RPG outings where he wasn't so constrained.

Admittedly I don't remember that many of his actions from the previous games though so I'm probably just blinded by his cleaner design in general.

Isn't the new stance just Bowser's stance in most modern Mario games? Bowser's progression through the Smash series has always gone towards making him match up modern Bowser more and more. He was the only character who actually became more cartoony going from Melee to Brawl and this less feral stance is just lining up even more with Bowser in other games.

It's kind of hard to take what he means there, since he only talked about the movies/cutscenes, and not really the gameplay. It does make it clear that whatever is the new Smash's single player campaign it won't be structured like a long cutscene filled story like SSE was, but, outside of that, it gives no information.

I really hope he's going for something like Kirby Super Star, with the multiple small campaigns, it'd fit Smash's format much better.

For Link, I'd like nintendo to either:
A- Get rid of his chargeable up-B. (Because making it chargeable made the uncharged version really shitty and not a good kill move like it was in melee)
or
B- Keep the chargeable up-B, but let him store the charge like Samus/DK/Lucario

Also they need to speed up Link a bit, he seemed really slow in Brawl compared to Melee, and not just because Brawl was slower overall.

Hopefully it's a light hearted adventure, ala Kid Icarus Uprising. Could you imagine if the characters could actually talk to each other this time around?

It sounds to me that they're making the single player more like Melee, with short little adventure modes with little to no cutscenes, just battles with sprinkles of fan service. The movies they're talking about are likely gonna be in a gallery or something to view pertaining to each character, like you'll look up Mario's profile with all his stats and history of the character, plus there will be a little video like the Megaman, Animal Crossing, and Wii Fit Trainer videos released to showcase the character in gameplay.

Once upon a time I came up with an idea for an SSE sequel where Smash Bros. cast shows up for the tournament, then Crazy Hand and all the Nintendo villains take control of the characters' homeworlds while they're away. Then you have to travel to all of the Nintendo worlds with the Smash cast to stop them.

But that doesn't sound like what Sakurai has in mind.

Ehh, maybe it's just me, but that just sounds unpleasant. I'd rather they go all out. But I'll make due I suppose.

I always figured that Dedede's voice was based off of George Bush.

Better yet, can he get a throw based off the Hurly Gloves from Mario RPG?

I think he were talking about Brawl, and that game wasn't even out when Brawl got released.

Eh? I was talking about Bowser's rendition in Smash 4 being inspired by BiS. I wouldn't at all be surprised if BiS Bowser had callbacks to Smash Bros. either, kind of like how Pit in KI:U ended up using that redesign before the game was even a thing.

But, uh...Smash 4 didn't even enter its planning phase until three years after BiS was released.
And? He's had the same punch since Melee.

As for his upright stance, he has that in Galaxy, too, which probably inspired both Inside Story and SSB4. It's more likely that EAD's flagship console Mario game had an impact on SSB than an outsourced handheld game.
