this is honestly one of my favorite parts of MGS2. snake vs solidus (raiden caught in the cross fire of two legends) and then pliskin's reveal as snake and the proceeding conversation. dat character development.
Holy shit I figured out why they ditched Hayter and went for Sutherland: they are making the MGS movie and want fans to get used to the Holliwood actor playing Snake. He's going to be Solid Snake in the movie.
I could have sworn you could see Chico wearing his peace walker attire standing over the kid on the "operating" table?

Probably, im still holding back but I don't think I can resist after another trailer or MGO beta.and is it truly hopeless for any david hayter holdouts at this point?
I feel like there's some big element to everything that we're not seeing. Not sure if it's as big as like the MGS2 switch, or say the Animus in Assassin's Creed 1, but something.
Kojima-san, you are famous for breaking the fourth wall in your games. How might you use to features of the next-gen consoles to do this in MGSV?
Specifically for the next-gen and Metal Gear Solid V, it's not necessarily about breaking the fourth wall, but we do have a big surprise for the players in this game. We have challenged and pushed ourselves with something that movies can't do but only games can do. It hasn't been done before.
Kojima also said in a interview that was posted that MGS V would do something with it's narrative that's only possible in the videogame medium.
To lead ourselves to a point that makes sense, we have to break down what games can do that movies can never do.
but with KOJIMA!!!!! as the text.
He wasn't giving them diamonds, he was giving one back that was offered to him in exchange for their freedom, apparently with the X-Ray shot, he has plenty.
Sniper Wolf was from the south of Kurdistan; she was born and raised in the middle of a violent guerrilla conflict between Kurdish freedom fighters and the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein, surrounded by gunfire, sirens, and screams. She was constantly being hunted and always had to move from one shelter to another on a regular basis hiding from the regime. When she would wake up from sleep, she would often find one of her friends or family dead beside her, and prayed that she would make it through each day. The international community did nothing to help her or stop the fighting, which made her hate the political world.
During the 1988 Al-Anfal Campaign in the Iran-Iraq War, Sniper Wolf witnessed the gassing of her friends and family at the hands of Iraqi soldiers. Sniper Wolf would later be trained by Gurkhas who taught her all they knew about sniping. Wolf eventually met Big Boss, who saw great potential and talent within her. Big Boss brought the young Sniper Wolf to the United States. Wolf eventually came to look up to Big Boss, whom she called "Saladin".
Wolf then became a lone sniper, so she could watch and wait, and see war from the outside rather than from the inside. After the "death" of Big Boss, Sniper Wolf was later recruited into FOXHOUND, to get her revenge on the world.
Yeah I thought Hayter was not hired back because he might have been asking too much cash, but if they got Keifer Sutherland I can't imagine this being the case, or at least it lowers the chances.
Whatever the case, there is definitely something about those vertical bars and I maintain it's reliving-memories-related!
Same with how in the GZ and first PP trailer, every time the camera was looking at a bright light we'd hear a weird hissing sound.
There's something hidden in there.

Seeing the footage in order like this, only increases my theory that Ishmael isn't a figment of Snake's imagination. Ishmael is voiced by Keifer Sutherland, and if the player has already been listening to Kiefer voicing Snake for the prologue, then it's got to be the worst attempt at a twist ever.
I don't think they're diamonds, it just looks like pieces of shrapnel. Click to enlarge:
Something else I just noticed, you can see where he lost his arm in the xray.
everytime I read something like that from Kojima
I want a gif of

Holy fuck.
My jaw is literally on the floor.
Any theory on why Big Boss would kill the children at the end of the trailer ?

Popular theory is that it's the intro/tutorial of the game. It'll explain all the controls and get you ready for the weirdness to follow, then a "NINE YEARS EARLIER" title card pops up and we start playing Ground Zeroes.

Some interesting theories there about Gray Fox.

You got to love it when analysis on focuses on the aspects that support the theory you have.
Although I do hope to see Gray Fox.

Metal Gear fans still desperately clinging to Gray Fox I see.

I really don't know why they'd get rid of him, after all the Japanese actor for Snake is still the same. Maybe Kojima (or someone else of a similar charge) didn't like Hayter. It was definitely not for money, Hayter even gave up a lot of his Twin Snakes salary so the complete cast could return, so he's not like that.
And a big name actor like Sutherland would probably ask double anyway. It could've been that they wanted someone famous. If they did, shame on them, but whatever.
On your edit, if anything I'd want Hayter to be the writer, he has interest in that!

I don't see a problem with Hayter disappearing as Big Boss. This won't be the first game that has happened, and I think distancing older Big Boss' voice work from Hayter is a good thing to give each character a stronger distinction.
You have some Metal Gear fans flipping shit because Hayter isn't Big Boss, but I don't see why he has to be. Hayter was always Snake first, Big Boss second. And there's no real reason Big Boss has to sound like Solid Snake.
Is there an HD download version of the trailer? BlimBlim?

Nope. Don't count on it either. I'm preparing a topic over that very topic in a few days.
Very well done.

I've almost found it too obvious from the start even. I'm putting my money on hidden identity instead.
I think it's either Gray Fox, grown up Chico, or Johnny.
Unless Chico dies in the attack on Mother Base, something has to happen to him. It also looked like we were seeing Big Boss and Kaz from someone else's perspective in the PP trailer when they are in the hospital.
BTW so far it goes: Afghanistan -> Africa, and then we don't know. But considering what the game is about, I get the feeling it will stay in those two locations for the most part. If not, then we've only seen maybe the first part of PP. It would be: GZ, with the destruction of Mother Base. BB wakes up and escapes the hospital with Ocelot. Goes to Afghanistan to save Kaz. Goes to Africa to look for whatever Zero is doing, meets some child soldiers, and kills some of them.
Again I really wonder how the heck BB can end up as head of Fox Hound after all this.
