Motley Fool says Nintendo should quit making hardware, make Mario Kart pay to play

Motley Fool says a lot of things.

Honestly, the name fits them well.

EDIT: Between this, Gametrailers Bonus Round, and the PG thread, I think I have had enough stupid for one day.

Could you imagine a freemium Mario Kart?

In what world does Nintendo get beat by Angry Birds?

Rovio revenue 2012: $195m - 45% of that is toys.

Nintendo beats Rovio's entire yearly revenue with a relatively small single release. They absolutely demolish them with a release like the 30 million unit selling Mario Kart Wii.

People say the Wii U needs games to be successful, see a big batch of new games coming out, acknowledge that those games would be awesome on other consoles, then go to say that Nintendo should just go 3rd party even when they know those great games will come to Nintendo's console. I don't get it.

I gotta give it to the media, their dumbass predictions and ignorant comments is what finally motivated Nintendo to create NIntendo Directs, which I love.

Wasn't Nintendo's revenue that year like $8 billion? Oh yeah, they should copy Rovio if they want the big bucks.

Why should a company like Nintendo give up 30% of the profit for every game sold to Apple?

They'd be lining Apple's pockets when they can make and sustain their own hardware like the 3DS and take home 100% of the profit.

Quickly, someone calculate the ARPPU for one of Nintendo's staple games (including the hardware, since Nintendo also make money on it).

Wow NSMB2 is already at 6.5 million? I thought it was deemed a failure or something?

Remember when the 3DS sold like 10 million units in the first year, and there were articles saying "but DS sold 120 million!!" ignoring the DS had eight years or whatever.

NSMB2 was a "failure" because it only sold six million in a year versus the 25 million of the original over six years. Certain people fail at math, this is the way of the world.

Everything else aside, if Nintendo did get out of the hardware game, why would they go pay-to-play instead of f2p? That would just be throwing away money. I think all of this speculation is dumb as crap.

I can't argue with this one.

I mean it, it's literally unarguable. It's so thoroughly wrong-headed in every sense that it's impossible to get a grip on it.
