Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

can i download American PSP or VITA games to the ps3 and transfer them to the vita via the cable, and then play them on the uk account or would they need to check into a American account on the vita?

Only the PS3 allows different region digital stuff to play on different region accounts.

The PSP and PSP2 both are locked to ONE region account, the one that is "signed in"/DRM-okay'd to that system.

So, no.

Random question Vitabros; I’m off to Thailand soon and I was wondering whether it would be worth my time trying to find a games shop somewhere? I’ve had my eye on a couple of Japanese releases that I would hope would have an Asian version and it struck me that it would probably be cheaper to try to grab them while I’m out there rather than import.

Any thoughts or local knowledge? I’m in Bangkok for a couple of days and then just to the south, but I figure that Bangkok would be my best bet.

From my experiences electronics in south east asia are typically the same or typically more expensive than here in the US. The only stuff you may see cheaper are rips/ illegal copies of movies and pc software... and if you want dvds - male sure they play everyone of them for you. Ive had every issue under the sun come up with those dvds so you gotta be on top of them and can typically haggle them down price wise. In fact the name of the game in SEA is negotiating - unless ur in some comercialized place

Hmmmm.

My 1st Vita got battery-damaged so I am a bit paranoid about my 2nd Vita.

Anyways...

DJ MAX TECHNIKA TUNE

Finally bought and downloaded this from PSN. Just how the hell you should hold your Vita while playing this game anyways? Gahhhhhh.

Playing in Star Mixing I hold the console with my left hand and I use the right one, but when I play Pop Mixing and I am in the train or the bus, I put the Vita in my lap, so I can use both hands.

Is this a good price for the game? (~$40)

Also, since I can't read Japanese, can someone tell me what that note surrounded by yellow says?

If it hasn't been mentioned, at yesterday's Love Live event, they announced they're doing a Vita game.

I don't know japanese, but at least I can tell you the price is fine, I paid 50 euros for my copy.

It was more a proof of concept. Basically, they are bringing the Killzone IP to the Vita.

They didn't properly announce a Killzone game until Gamescom.
Sony also revealed the Vita version of R&C: Full Frontal Assault during the last Gamescom.

they need to license the engine for other third party developers, so we can get game that look and run like this on Vita.
It would be nice to see that engine get used again, though sometimes it doesn't work out. At one point Sony wanted the Naughty Dog Uncharted engine to become an in-house engine for 1st party studios, but apparently it proved too customized towards ND's uses to work for other studios. There's also the issue of having to set up a support team to help out licensees. Poor support was what made ID fall behind Unreal in the engine licensing business.

first page of thread states Jak and Daxter for 12 June in EU

WHERE IS MY JAK AND DAXTER
There hasn't actually been any official date announcement for J&D in EU, beyond that it's coming.

No idea WHO is doing it, the staff just announced Season 2 of the show for 2014 + Saitama Super Arena event + Love Live Vita game.
ASCII Media Works co-owns the property it would seem, so they will probably publish the game themselves.

but id be much more open to giving some of these indie titles a shot if the prices werent so outrageous

they need to be impulse buys
Sales and PS Plus discounts are good for getting games into impulse buy territory.

When we will get hotline miami on vita?

Also my vita account and handheld is Europe can i play Dragon Crown USA on it?

Why on hell Limbo 17$ for Vita in Europe ?

What about Ultimate ghost & Goblins for VITA it's not available on Europe store?

*sigh* People really need to...

Yes if it's retail AND you don't want the DLC (if any available)

Else: NO unless you are using a same region account.

Hotline Miami has passed cert in SCEA but not SCEE, so North America soon.. Europe maybe a bit later.

Yes, you can import a retail copy of Dragon's Crown and play it on your EU account. You won't be able to use any DLC (if there is DLC), though.

The problems with the indie strategy on Vita is that (1)they are not the high quality indies games (2)they late ports (3) with high prices, if Sony can get the indie people talking about faster to Vita this strategy might actually work.

yeah XSEED is in tough situation here, they can bring it to the west easily by heavy censorship job but doing this they might upset the fans and since it's a niche game already then they the risk of doing this is way too high.

I only like FFVI (dat game) and FF IV.

isn't the separated games because of Sony(Vita game card limit)?

It's not like I torture my Vita right now, It's just you know to see this happen to a system with huge potential just because Sony don't want to even try, I wish I can get some hope like you guys but this E3 and Sony ignoring Vita completely was too much for my poor spirit and soul, it almost broke me.

I tend to fall into the category of "more good games = more good games", regardless of whether they're late ports or not. The pricing could be better, yes, but as long as we get a good mix of indies and bigger first and third party releases I think most of us will be happy.

There's a great lineup of games in the coming months IMO, I know you only consider a few of them viable releases but a lot of us are excited for most of them.

Yeah I think it's pretty much impossible to censor Senran Kagura considering how fanservice-y the entire game is. Finishers and such make clothes explode, I'm pretty sure they eventually end up full on topless (but censored) so at this point, IMO, if they were to bring it over they should leave it intact so the people who truly want that game will get it.

I've never played VI, I know how revered it is, shame on me. I've basically only played through 1-IV, and then VII onwards. Also there was no confirmation of why they're separate but that is the assumption - the card limit. It works out for me because I refuse to touch X-2.

If you enjoy the platform as much as you seem to do (I truly feel like you do, considering how much you scrutinize or praise things), I'd say stick it out man. Don't bail out on the Vita after X game release, who knows what might be coming. 3DS was never as downtrodden as Vita but look at how much that platform is flourishing now.

If the new game announcements stop or slow down to practically nothing outside of Japan like it did with the PSP, then we should worry. Since Sony Bend is part of SCEE I expect their new game to be shown off at Gamescom, I still have hope it'll be a Vita game, or at least a PS4/Vita game, but ideally a Vita exclusive considering how well Uncharted: GA did.

I'm going to Tokyo next week. What are the best japanese-exclusive Vita games? I was thinking og Lord of the apocalypse, but it is being released in the west now, right?

No need for an asian version :) Also, no need to be inport friendly, I'll buy it mostly for fun and curiosity.
I doubt that Lords of Apocalypse will get localized at this point since we haven't heard anything about it since its Japanese release a year and a half ago. Try out the demo on Japanese PSN.

Get Hatsune Miku Project Diva f. The Vita version controls better than the PS3 version.

I have returned.

Would some gracious poster catch me up on what I might have missed, in terms of Vita news, other than the Futrlab games coming out in NA on 7/9?

Since no one post recommendations anymore

5 mediocre Vita games for your "fix"

Asphalt: Injection
If you need your Arcade Racing Fix ,this mediocre game has decent amount of contents (Cars and tracks, multiplayer) it run well with decent framerate, cars look good but it feel on-rail and don't require much skills, also it's still overpriced even when it is a launch game.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock
For your Platforming, platforming puzzles and puzzles fix, it's do stuff by the book with nothing super good or new to the genre but it's alright, there are big frame rate issues and the game feel too repetitive toward the end, also it has the worst doctor.

Urban Trial Freestyle
a clone of Trials, inferior in every way but do a decent job for a clone and will give you your fix if you don't have a 360 or PC to get the real deal.

Army Corps of Hell
Want something like Pikimin and Overlord? this game do that only it's not cute or deep, but it do the job if you need your fix on that.

FIFA 13
Sadly the king wont be on Vita, but this is a good alternative, FIFA 13 (actually FIFA 11) is very good looking game and run very smoothly on Vita, however the ball physics might don't be good for the PES veterans, also a full price for a roster update and no impact engine is kinda steep.

Man, I didn't think about the fact that Epic Mickey 2 and Jak & Daxter Collection are both releasing tomorrow. Crazy. I REALLY hope some Vitabros will try J&D and say that it, or heck, even Epic Mickey, are good ports, because I'd like to get at least one of them.

Can't blame people thinking of that since SCEE sound like the only active supporter for Vita (last three games Teraway,KZM and Invizimals are from them) people might as well think that Bend is part of them.

Yeah I made the assumption that they were from Europe considering practically none of Sony's American studios are putting out "big" games for the system. My bad :\ Now my hopes are in the gutter, they're probably making a PS4 game.

Sony needs to pull a Nintendo and have X amount of studios ONLY work on handheld games, or at least regularly put out handheld games. Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch could make amazing Vita games, they just outright refuse to from what I've seen in interviews/etc.

If the digital size of J&D isn't that big, I might be getting it digitally. After seeing the good framerate vids from E3 I'm down. I absolutely loved Jak 1 back in the day and never played through 2 or 3 so.

and Both are published by Sony...very smart.

From the E3 gameplay videos Epic Mickey 2 Vita port sound better (it is still a bad game) Jak on the other hand look like a very bad port (one video I think was posted in this thread showed huge framerate drops in Jak 1 tutorial level).

I really think they'll jump to PS4, seeing how SCEA helping RaD which is a small studio I guess they'll also let Bend try it , but let wait and see.

opposite here :/

Yeah, I don't know. I'm going to wait for impressions on the full game (normally I would have already pre-ordered it), but I'm not quite as negative on it as you. We'll see.

Epic Mickey 2 does look like a good PORT. Not saying anything about the quality of the game itself. What's actually not good about that game, btw? I know it got bad review scores, but I don't know what's actually bad about the game.

No problem. I don't blame you for choosing to play The Last of Us over it, lol.

Anyone think we have a hope of getting Kingdom Hearts ports for the Vita in the future? I was honestly surprised when I double-checked and saw that yep, 1.5 is PS3 only.

Well Kitase is teasing a XII HD port if X and X-2 sell well enough. You can bet it'll be on Vita too so - everyone buy 10 copies of X HD on Vita.

.

in short, it's rubbish, very poor controls it still a wiimote game but with controller, bad camera (like really bad and you'll fight it most of the time) platformer parts are poorly designed, filled with uninspired levels and is very repetitive as you'll feel tired of it after one hour of doing the same gimmick over and over again.

Read the OT to see read more gaffer impressions.

I just want FF6 remake running on luminous engine, which game should I buy for that to happen?

Damn, I wish KH 1.5 was getting a PS3+Vita release like FFX/X-2. I'd actually buy it on Vita.

I seem to recall Yoshida denying that when asked on twitter a few months ago. Also Demonnite (who works for Sony) implied something similar in the Bend's doing Uncharted PS4 speculation thread. Without any concrete proof to back it up, all this OMG BEND IS DOING A PS4 GAME worrying is silly.

I really think they'll jump to PS4, seeing how SCEA helping RaD which is a small studio I guess they'll also let Bend try it , but let wait and see.
Bend has said they liked being a smaller, handheld-focused studio. RaD repeatedly said the opposite, and were even saying they were "done" with the PSP after their first GoW game. I think there was some rumor that Sony wanted them to do a Vita GoW game, but they clearly wouldn't have it, and trying to force them would likely mean them going looking for another publisher.

Hi Adahn ..... I live in Bangkok .... So I can suggest you the best shops to go to but the $ is so weak at the moment compared to the baht .... I buy things on PSN cos the price of things imported from the USA are just too much ..... Japanese games cost more than US games here in Thailand, Jap games are about 1,600b = 55$ .... and US games are about 1,300b = 44$ ..... I don't know if that's cheaper or more expensive than the US for Jap games !??!

Here are the 2 most reputable game shops in Thailand ...... nadzproject.com & super-rich.com

They are both right in the middle of downtown Bangkok, in Siam Square .... if you need more info just ask ;)

10 copies!? well ok lel

Well you know how Square is with sales forecasts .... the only way we'll get it is if they sell a bajillion copies.

I really hope so. Give us a new game on Vita, Bend ;(

IF X and X-2 were packaged together at a reasonable price I would gladly buy a copy.

30-40$ each? BWHAHAHAHA no chance in hell.

Bend might want stuff in their own way but SCEA is in tough situation seeing how Microsoft getting exclusives for Da One left and right so they might want to use all their studios even the smallest ones on PS4.

but yeah let just wait and see. PS4 or Vita, I honestly don't care I just want a new Syphon Filter from Bend.

isn't Sony to blame here and not SE? they need to make bigger Vita game cards for publishers to use.

I had FIFA Football for Vita and I sold it, because I could not stand the cheating AI.

I don't want to play any FIFA again.

By the way I am becoming little by little in a fan of FuturLabs, I have played Beats Sliders and Surge, and I enjoyed both games, now I am playing Coconut Dodge Revitalised, it's a simple and fun game. I still have pending Velocity Ultra, but my 16GB card is full.
