Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

I bought 999 (DS) for my 3DS XL to prepare for VLR...
not feeling the game yet

(and the 3DS XL is some janky hardware. the volume is hopelessly soft...)

I am doing the same thing, borrowed from a friend at work. I am almost done with my first playthrough. I am really enjoying it, though I was starting to get into the visual book/games almost right before my buddy let me borrow...so I am sure that has a little to do with it. I am on a vanilla, but it still works well enough to play. Can't wait to see all the visual upgrades, and play VLR on dat gorgeous OLED..

[EDIT:] Snapdragons! Top of page! But Earth Defense Force (even though I don't have it, I want it baaaadly), Velocity Ultra (when it gets released in the states!), Sound Shapes, Hot Shots Golf World Invitational (Everybody's Golf 6), Wipeout 2048, PS Plus! I can go on and on...but people need a break...

[EDIT 2]: I guess Soul Sacrifice also...I wanted to NOT say it..but really, all Vitabros should try this game.

So I'll be going on a little bit of a drive the next few days and I want everyone's opinions on what I should buy: Jak and Daxter collection, Soul Sacrifice, Sly Cooper, or something else? I'm trying not to get something that might go for free next week. Thanks everyone!

Soul Sacrifice is always the answer.
Sly is solid, but there are some spots the framerate is a bit of a problem. Very glad I bought the PS3/Vita bundle when it was on sale a couple weeks back and not just the Vita game.
Jak is probably the best value, since it's 3 games in 1, but there's also some technical issues with the games.

You can't go wrong with any of them, probably, provided you like the genre, but Soul Sacrifice is far and away the best game I own on Vita and might be my GOTY so far for 2013.

The demo was a lot of fun. But does it have a good length to it?

The single player (only) probably runs about 8-10 hours, I'm guessing -- but there are so many quests in Avalon (where multiplayer is allowed) and so much to do and collect... plus the multi is great and they're still pumping out free DLC (more on Tuesday! Crew crew! ;) ).

You have to make at least some of those avalon pacts to be able to beat higher levels of story - so bare minimum would be 20-30 hours.

Guys, I just beat Resident Evil. Is it possible to upload my save to cloud storage? If not, can I delete RE from my Vita but keep the save data untouched?

Only Vita saves are tied to the bubble.
You can delete at will and the save will stay on your card.
You can use content manager to back up PSOne and PSP saves to your PS3 or PC. Cloud saves are for Vita only.

Yes, there is a lot of content in the full game. More bosses and quests are being added as free DLC.

Very convincing arguments. I've had a lot of fun so far with it so it doesn't surprise me. I tried playing it right after the ragnarock odyssey demo and was blown away by how much better it is.

If anyone bought Epic Mickey 2 for Vita, can you please confirm to me if this version has Arabic support?

Nope, only (English, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Turkish)

and btw, the game is shit. I bought it because I thought it could be a nice vita coop game to play adhoc with my sister, and it was not. This game comes with boring story, frustrating control, laggy framerate and buggy puzzles.

After Wipeout, Asphalt, ModNation, Need for Speed, F1 and Sonic last year, am I right in thinking (MotoGP aside) there are no racing games coming to Vita in 2013? :(

I'm over 70 hours into Soul Sacrifice, finding time to ad-hoc almost daily with my SO and every other weekend with another friend. Wonderful game.

Holy shit Book of Memories has a
Laser Gun

Game redeemed

Edit: omg and a
flamethrower

forgive me 2+2=5 you were right

If I only purchase Jak & Daxter 1 for PS3, will I still get to download the Vita version for free or the other way around?

And are the loading long in Virtua Tennis?

Is Silent Hill seriously that good? The Dark Souls comparison earlier piqued my interest.
It's NOTHING like Dark Souls, haha.

It's a dungeon crawler lacking a decent loot system, although it has some cool weapons. It sometimes kinda sucks playing solo; probably better in a group but no one plays it online at all.

According to Kass/PSNStores, Hotline Miami is confirmed to release next week for $10 with cross-buy.
Hopefully with a nice PS+ discount on top of that.

Next week's going to kill my wallet, but Muramasa's worth it at full price. Hotline Miami's still a maybe, but definitely leaning toward a purchase.

Unrelated: Legends of War: Patton impressions! I've only played through the tutorial and the first couple of campaign missions, but it seems like it'll be enjoyable decent -- and I say that as someone who's not really into turn-based strategy games. The biggest drawbacks:
1) the camera controls are a bit wonky;
2) the map screens seem to be mostly useless; and
3) the tutorial is fairly short, but the first mission bombard you with text explanations.

All that said, I had fun with it. Once I found a workable height for the camera, I found the controls themselves were pretty easy. I'm definitely looking forward to playing more of it, which has to be a good sign.

Does this have trophies? Part of me suspects this is one of those PSP games on a Vita game card Yoshida said could happen. It would explain why it's not on PSN, and why it looks so bad.

It seems like it's easier to port PS3 games to the Vita than it is PS2 games.

In this case I think it was a bad idea to port from the PS3 version of Jak HD. The developers should've went back to the PS2 code, and used their knowledge in making the PS3 version to help them optimize and fine tune the Vita release. I think porting games that really took advantage of the PS2 to PS3 and then to Vita is why it's such a subpar release. That said, somehow fitting 3 full games on a Vita game card is commendable.

And are the loading long in Virtua Tennis?

Not that I can recall.
Dragon Ball - Online Battle 4 vs 4 is pretty huge for me.

Now Bleach: Blade Battlers 3 please.

Bleach is dead, and if it gets revived we'd probably see a new Heat the Soul title or Soul Carnival game.

As for DBZ, I'm not too optimistic on the Vita version being localized ... at least initially.

Hotline Miami really needs a demo for me to consider it.

And DotP really needs a port for me to play it. ;_;

Speaking of Dark Souls. Seeing as we are getting a 2D companion game for Arkham Origins on portables, maybe a similar thing could happen for Dark Souls 2?

Yeah it won't happen but a man can dream right?

Well, if Kings Field 1-3 was released on PSN you'd have it's spirit there.
But they play so slow since they were WAYYYY ahead of their time.

It does have trophies.
What's this about what Yoshida said?

I'm trying to get into the habit of using NEAR more often as I go out.

It's actually pretty fun, it's not as involved as streetpass (with the miis and such), plus you don't collect people like you do with streetpass, but I just got a friend request from someone I randomly met via NEAR today:

As Vita bros/cats/muffins, we should all chip in to populate the digital geocaches with our NEAR check ins.

People use Near!?

I would if I could exchange Black Market trades with people over PSN since no one is playing Uncharted often enough locally to make it possible to get all fetishes

Vita can handle the real deal. Besides that, Japan doesn't do the handheld tie-in thing.

Everyone has at least one person on their Near with that fucking Crash avatar, lol.

That's my PSN avatar.

It does have trophies.
What's this about what Yoshida said?

It was something Yoshida said pre-Vita launch.

I'm still on NEAR strike until they put the save data on the memory card so it doesn't get wiped when I reset my Vita. That or when I get a second Vita (hoping for another Miku LE, preferably teal)

Shinovi's fun, but very repetitive. Canned animations repeated for every character. And really easy to cheese every fight. I do, however, really enjoy trying to defeat the enemy before they get a chance to transform (which I've accomplished only once yet).

It's like Sony doesn't want my money.

To be fair, I think they'd rather you buy a PS3 than a 50 cent avatar.

One 'exploit' I really love on Xbox 360 is that avatars (gamerpics) bought on the system are usable by all accounts on the system. Which means that if you make a Japanese account, you can buy a gamerpic of a Japanese-exclusive game and use it on your US (main) account. I use one of Makise Kurisu from Steins;Gate. Shame you can't do that on PS3, can you?

I know some of you don't have a ps3, but for those who do (and own LBP2), do yourself a favor and pick up the LBP2 cross-controller pack DLC. It's awesome, and really shows off the utility of the vita as an off-screen counterpart. There's absolutely no lag. Really, I'd say it rivals the wii u setup (minus the tactile feedback, obviously). On sale in NA store.

Yeah, it feels completely natural. Just like Wii U (except the Wii U is a better controller since it's so big and has full analog sticks). If they can get the PS4/Vita setup like that, it will be VERY impressive, but I think there are other things going on there (since there's some kind of app or download you have to make on the Vita side).

...It's over.

It's finally over.

Is Silent Hill seriously that good? The Dark Souls comparison earlier piqued my interest.

Ehh... Not really. I mean my previous post was a tad hyperbolic, but honestly I had fun with the last two levels. Mainly because all of a sudden awesome weapons fell into my lap. Might have gotten some earlier had I gone out of my way to do the side mission at the start of each zone but I had no motivation whatsoever as I found the majority of the game a nice substitute for ambien and those side missions painfully dull or annoying. But to be fair there are some neat things about it. The bosses are really fun(the final boss has a really badass design too, holy shit)and there's a decent amount of customization with artifacts and such. I never thought I'd finish to be honest but here I am. I have to admit the story is kind of neat with the different outcomes of the notes depending on your karma, but the weird ass roundabout ways to alter them still boggles my mind.

Anyways, if you can find the game real cheap go for it, I think I sort of irrationally hate it and shouldn't be taken seriously.

I tried it for the first time last night, never really felt the need to all this time for some reason. It's kinda neat, I was shocked at how many people were nearby. Does it share your exact location with anyone though? It's...A bit specific, especially when you bring up the google map thing.

That said, I fucking love Toro's Friend Network. That shit rules. I wish the Twitter lobby would work though :\

I installed Treasures of Montezuma Blitz from PS3 storage after a month off. I installed a game update that came out a few days ago and ended up with this funny glitch.

The score didn't save on the leaderboards, but I still got all of the crystals. I think it might have to do with increasing the number of friends from 3 to around 70 before installing the game again.

Bottom half of the picture is the sharing gift on Near. I want to see the face of whoever plays the game and finds that on Near. 100,000 crystals is $17 on PSN.
