This is just absurd. They clearly outmatch Tahiti, and only make themselves look worse with every goal they pile on.

What else can they do? Hold the ball up for the entire second half? I'd argue that's even more humiliating. Tahiti came to play and Spain are respecting that by playing.

I feel that Uruguay - Nigeria is going to be sloppy tactical borefest.

They have 24 players, why not rest the stars?

I thought Spain would score 2 or 3 goals and just pass it around the half way line for the remainder. Guess they couldn't help themselves from scoring.

They did play the "B" team although some of the guys who usually start didn't in the previous game (Silva is typically a starter as are Torres or Villa). Spain is just so good that literally their "B" team of players is better than almost every other countries' A teams. I would think their U-21 team could win most international senior tournaments.

These are pro's playing to win a tournament they are not playing a friendly or for charity. If you don't want to get scored on then stop them.

Except their opponent werent pros. Only one player from the entire Tahiti team is a professional. The rest play soccer after work.

I realize that, but at a certain point, it's just unnecessary to continue attacking so much. They do a disservice to the images of both teams.

Irregardless the tournament attracts/demands top level athletes to compete to win it all, if you don't have the talent how is it Spain's fault.

They cant be nice about it what if the difference between the 1 and 2 spot is goal differential?

The Spanish team cant just hold back and assume they are going to stay on top of the group.

For Spain to not take the game seriously is a disservice to those Tahitian players for whom this game was the pinnacle of their footballing lives. They earned the right to play against probably the best team in the world in the Maracana and to be taken seriously. Iniesta reiterated this before the game and I'm sure you would not find a Tahitian player who would want it any other way.

Good point. I guess this is just one of those hard losses they're gonna have to take on the way to competing on the world stage.

Not attacking all the time != not playing the game seriously.
