Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

The game is always going to be balanced around 4-player scramble mode w/ items on though. The competitive Smash problem is that after having to turn off items in Melee (due to the booby trapped ones) they now play a version of the game that's completely foreign to the other 95%+ of other people playing the game.

When I picked up Melee for the first time, I had a very negative reaction to it, coming from SSB64. It got better over time, but the movement game felt radically different (because, well, it was.)

And Brawl wasnt like either Melee or 64, yet I'm guessing youll say you didnt have a negative reaction to it. Despite things like lack of aerial momentum or significant hitstun making it far more different than the differences between 64 and Melee.

Sonic's move set is terrible.

One of the things I really really liked in Project M was them fixing Sonic. Holy shit, some of the ideas were great. Nair being his Sonic 3 insta-shield/buzzsaw shield was so obvious.

If I were to suggest anything else, his Forward B should become a short distance Sonic Rush/Unleashed/Colors/Generations Boost with good knockback thus making him a psuedo run-stop character.

MEWTWO BEST REVEAL OF ALL TIIIIIIIIIIIIIME

I am hyped for Mega Man, but Mewtwo I would even prefer over him.

What if he's revealed to be in that armor he had in the beginning of the first Pokemon movie? What would you do if there's gameplay footage of him in the armor proving there are alt costumes?

Question!

In all the invertviews that Sakurai did no one ever asked him about Playstation All Star Battle Royale?

What would he have said? "Ha, that weak-ass knock-off BS can't get wit mah Bros., breh"

These sound great. I'd love to see new gametypes for Smash U/3DS.

Me and my friends had a homemade gametype called "President"

I can't remember if we did this in Stamina mode...

But we would have a 3v1 setup.. One life obviously

The player by himself was the Assassin. One player on the team of 3 was the 'President', the other 2 were Bodyguards. The goal is for the Assassin to KO the President. They bodyguards had the goal of defending the President.

The twist was.. The President can only jump and use their specials.

We had so many drop dead hilarious matches. President's falling off stages. Assassins getting dogged. Bodyguards getting punished. Adding Friendly Damage added more fun. Items got chaotic. Higher damage upped the stakes as well.

You all should try it. I miss those times man..

That sounds fun. I'll try it someday if I manage to get some four-player games going.

Talking about custom modes, I think SSB64 and Melee's handicap system should return over Brawl's new one. Setting three human players to the lowest handicap and a single AI with maximum handicap was incredibly fun, and it just wasn't the same when we set all human players to start with 150% damage in Brawl... It just doesn't feel the same.

At the very least, they should go all out with customizations. Let me choose to start with 999% in regular or handicap matches, and let me toggle the rate at which players get pity final smashes. Having a % switch for the random stage selector that worked like My Music controls would be great, as well.

That would be incredibly badass. Playing as Mewtwo in his armor alone would make alt costumes worth it!

Well that and the wealth of alternate costumes characters like Mario and Samus could have...

I'd rather not hear the obligatory: 'I saw that. How flattering. They did a good job.' comments. Which of course would be followed up with, 'Why don't you do this or that from PSAS?'. No thanks.

Who's Somic?

Is it too much to hope for a top-tier Samus? The closest thing to one was Melee Samus, and she was mid-tier.

And Ganondorf is allowed to shine in FFA. You just take a more reserved approach, stay out of the fray, get more aggressive when you notice other players with high percents. The use of items gives him a better approach and more options too.
Ganondorf is a joke in free-for-all; he's absurdly slow and has tiny hitboxes, so you're not going to get a hit in with more people attacking you. He also is huge, which means he's going to get hit more than characters like Falco or Olimar. He's not like Ike or Bowser or Dedede, who are characters that actually do get better in FFA thanks to their larger hitboxes and range.

EDIT:Just for shits and giggles, in our specific playgroup meta, Captain Falcon and Luigi were "top tier" (best stats after thousands of hours of playtime). Isn't Captain Falcon somewhere near the bottom on the "official" tiers? And yet he's incredibly suited for FFA.
I actually do like playing Captain Falcon in FFA; he's surprisingly better because he can catch runners and campers and can get choicy items. I certainly wouldn't call him top tier, but he's not Ganondorf awful.

Edit: Kitten Master has the right idea.

You sayin its the pizza cutter of smash. #When'sMahvel

I suck at Project M. Granted, I suck at all video games, but especially Project M. Last tournament with my friends, I only won like four times. Out of sixty or so

I hope you don't have an attachment to the movesets of characters debuting in Brawl.
That's the one thing that makes me wary about it. I'm all for rebalancing, but I've also heard that they drastically changed some character's movesets. Completely changing movesets does not sit well with me.

Well... it's happening in Smash 4 so I don't know why you'd be happy with Smash 4 then; because when... Project M is trying to be a new Smash game, too, decides to change move sets around it's... not good? Like Smash 4 is changing Bowser's move set from Brawl, for example.

Does not compute.

I've never tried Project M, I should play it.
As someone who isn't into the competitive scene at all, definitely. It's a great mod and besides a few personal changes I dislike (prefer Brawl's multiple air-dashing and Pit's new moveset is balls) it's been great to get into Brawl again in my own spare time with it installed, though none of my friends are that fond of it.

Because it started with "hey we're gonna put Melee physics and stuff back in" and morphed into something else entirely. I liked most of the Brawl cast's moveset and would've liked to try them with Melee physics, but that's out of the question.

Is there a Project M OP? I have the means to play it (Dolphin) but I have no idea where to start.

It has its own thread here buuuuut the OP doesn't have instructions on how to use it via Dolphin. Though I think there's some youtube tutorials on using P:M via Dolphin you can find very easily.

(I should really, really bug Anth0ny to update the OP of that thread it's so outdated in so many ways)

There is a difference between random people online making drastic moveset changes and nintendo doing so in an actual new game. Also as Beef said below they should've just changed the physics and left movesets alone. (Except for seperating the PKMN trainer's pokemon and giving them down-B moves. That's fine.)

Precisely.
