What's conjurer like compared to thamaturge?
Conjurer is a healer for the most part, but they have a nuke called stone that causes heavy, and an instant cast dot that last longer than thunder *a bit weaker though*

They have a knock back spell that binds.

They have a status effect removal spell that has a percent chance to be free on the next cast.

They have a heal chain combo

Cure 1 has a chance to make cure 2 free, then cure 2 has a chance to make your next cure 3 a garrenteed crit.

They have an aoe heal that has regen built in after the cure lands.

They have a 18% hp damage shield they can cast on others.

They can revive others in battle.

Then they have a 3 minute cooldown 50% threat drop that gives them renew for 15 seconds

White Mage job gives them holy which is an aoe nuke/stun, and regen which is a 21 second HoT as well as an instant cast full life heal with a 5 minute cooldown.

Edit: Changed one thing, it's different now from before.

Stuck at black screen and the mouse pointer. :(

The problem was that the Java settings for the PS3 browser were off for some reason, and therefore a message couldn't show.

After all these registrations and ID's and so forth, I'm finally downloading the game over the night.

When I create a char, I usually pick the race with the most magnificent beard, which race would that be in this game?

Highlander or Roegadyn.

Thanks (although you didn't need to explain it in way that made it seem like I've never played the game before, that just makes it harder to read).

I think I'm going to drop my male miqo'te and go female roegadyn for my secondary character (who will probably not be on Sargatanas). I like the idea of playing one of the rarer race/gender combos. The upside is that I got the two stupid female artifact armor designs out of the way with my male character (DRG, BRD). However I'm thinking the game is going to get worse in those type of designs, so I'm turned off the idea of playing a female character. RSE is dumb already.

Nobody care about race stats? I wanted to switch from highlander to something else but the stat trade off isn't worth it so I think I might stick with it. My main class is going to be MNK, and PLD, and Highlander to me has the best balance between strength, dex, and vit, Its higher than most races. I remember in XI i wanted to be elvan for the extra 6str at lvl cap and always regretted choosing hume. Won't make that mistake again.

Of course not. Miniscule stat differences are pointless to stress over.

I know the differences are tiny but I'm really weird about optimization. I can't tell you how many times I created a new character on FFXI just because I wanted to go a certain direction and a different character made more sense.

FFXIV is going to give you 8 slots per sub right? That's pretty great for someone like me. Eventually I'll stick to a character but it'll probably be after I play around with several 'directions' first. I had a lot of fun with my Elezen Lancer but I'm already feeling a Lalafell Wizard dude when the servers come back up. Could my Elezen guy play an effective BLM? Sure, but the perfect BLM is a Lalafell damn it.

Race doesn't matter. Some of the best tanks I played with on FFXI were Tarus, and some of the best mages were Galkas.

Nothing beats being a Taru PLD and rocking shit. I only got to low 40s but It was so fun if you had the skill/gear to make up for the race.

If my numbers are right, the difference between a Sea Wolf and a Dunesfolk of the same class would be less than forty HP and MP. Sea Wolf would block for more (5 higher STR) but Dunesfolk would block more often (3 higher DEX). Defense isn't based on racial stats so it doesn't seem like there'd be much difference.

6 STR will be meaningless in this game, as your stats get way higher than FF11. At level 20, you already have the stats of a level 75 character in FF11, when naked. With some mid-tier gear, you'll exceed the numerical stat values of a level 99 character.

I always think it's funny to see a lala running around and there a gladiator or something melee typed. I remember watching a cutscene where a lala was acting tough at me, and he walked away with the cute lala walk animation. How can you be scared looking at it lol.

Square Enix really outdid themselves with that class.

So I assume this is the most accurate description for attributes? Because it would seem that DEX does not affect accuracy, which is a thing that's changed judging by other descriptions.

When I played FFXIV 1.0 capping stats for your class made a huge difference in dmg. Like for mnk you needed a certain amount of STR and DEX + ACC to have max cap and best ws dmg. All I'm saying is, if you choose the right class it will be much easier and you won't have to spend millions of extra gil for that 1 more str or dex you need. But thats just for obsessed people that like to have everything optimal.

Back in FFXI no one really did. I mean there was an obvious impact, but if you played your job well enough there was no reason to worry about it. There was always something cool about a Taru PLD tanking HNMs...

Race mattered quite a bit in FFXI. Didn't make things unplayable, but there were clear advantages and disadvantages.

To be honest though, I'm having a hard time caring about stats at all right now. I probably will by the end-game, like I did for 1.0, and by then race stats will likely not matter much.

In any case, if I make a mage-centric Roegadyn, it will be Hellsguard, because there are better in that area (and I already have a Seawolf lol) - so why not.

Guys, if i want the new ARR CE items/pre-order bonuses on my old 1.0 account, can i just pre- order the PC CE edition and add it to my old account?

No. You'd have to do the digital upgrade that'll be available at launch or get the PS3 CE for the ARR CE items on a 1.0 account.
Our 1.0 characters are being put in for this weekend right? Oh damn I hope so anyway!
Yes, they are.
Is there PvP in the game? Or future release?
PVP'll be tested in Phase 4; I'm pretty sure it'll be in at launch.

edit: Nevermind, looks like the post was updated just now lol

(Mind read attack and healing magic potency. Now it's just healing potency.)

I still have the tab open, so proof I'm not crazy:

That's how it was in the old phases because there was no thm yet. So Con had to fill in the role of caster dps and heals. LOL it was pretty op actually

Guessing as a CNJ going white mage, going pure MIND makes sense, especially with the stance that changes the INT/MIND values.

Happy to see Aero was a bug, as the damage it did was laughable. Used it anyway as damage is damage, but man it was bad.

I'd can't wait to see more jobs, hopefully they do hybrid classes better in FFXIV than they did in FFXI. I was always fond of DRK.

Blue Mage was also a blast in the MMO setting, hope to see that one return soon.

I don't get the point of stat point allotment when only 1 or 2 stats will be useful and the rest will be dumped.

Not sure how Blue Mage would work in this game.

Kinda what I've been thinking. There is no reason for a class not to fully dump into their main stat.

Thanks for the answer, i guess an extra £7 wouldn't hurt and i could play on PS3 if I wanted.

I thought if you own the 1.0 CE you can buy the ARR CE and you'll be fine. I am pretty sure the digital upgrade is only for those who had the standard edition?

This game isn't doing subjobs or anything like that right? I actually haven't read too much on what kind of customization this one is using. Anyone have any good links?

I know every MMO eventually devolves into cookie cutter builds but I do hope lots of things are viable. It use to break my heart how nobody wanted to invite me as a WAR/THF in FFXI even though I outclassed every single DD I had partied with.

Owning the 1.0 CE means you get the ARR CE items for free. The physical copy CE item codes can only be used with a new account. I'll try and find the link. Here it is:
What if I bought the old version of FFXIV, and I already have characters on my account, but I'm looking to get the in game pre-order and collector's edition items. If I pre-order the collector's edition, then register the pre-order and collector's edition codes to my existing account, will I be able to get all the in game items?
You will receive the pre-order items, but the registration code for the Windows collector's edition cannot be used with a pre-existing Windows service account. To receive the in game items for the collector's edition, please use the digital upgrade.

However, the PS3 version can be registered to an existing Windows account, which would allow you to receive the collector's edition items.

You can equip single WSs and Abilities from other classes.

Instead of subjobs, think of it as more like FF5 or FFT. You can choose abilities from other jobs you've leveled and equip them individually. You have a number of slots, and you can equip abilities to fill those.

Wow so Paladin could actually use a decent balance of STR,DEX,VIT,MND, and PIE? I mean of course i'd want more of one stat than another, but it seems like i'd get good use out of those as a paladin.
