Best Pokemon Soundtrack?

Whether it be Mainline, or a Spin off.
For me (to be completely honest) its the Ruby and Sapphire soundtrack. Something about dem trumpets makes it so good.

And the best Trainer, Elite Four, Champion and Legendray Battle Theme to ever grace a Pokemon game.

Which, arguably, are some of the best songs to ever be produced on the Gameboy Advance, let alone in the whole Pokemon series.
Not only being one of my favourite Pokemon games, but it also has one of the, if not the best, soundtracks for a Pokemon game.

So what say you GAF, what is your favourite.

Probably Black/White (haven't played B/W2 yet...).

Heart Gold/Soul Silver comes a close second. Those remixes are pretty damn good.

I can't stand most of R/S/E's tunes, but you are right about the Elite Four and Champion themes.
 
Pokemon has music? Music that is actually worth having an OST to?

I think the old pokemon blue repeating background music just kind of scarred me. I usually listen to my own soundtracks while playing.

Only song from pokemon I actively remember liking is the Lugia's theme, which is quite beautiful.
 
I'm going to have to go with the original games but Gold/Silver/Crystal also have an amazing soundtrack and is a close 2nd.

Platinum and Black 2/White 2. So many good tracks to choose from.

When we heard that the 3DS allows them to put in music without compressing it, I was overjoyed. If the soundfont is nice in Gen VI we could be looking at some wonderful music.

Those are some good choices. I always liked the jazzy tunes for the Galactic building in Eterna as well as their HQ. Hell, even Veilstone got in on that action. I recently caught the Lake Trio in White 2 and I was reminded how much I love that track (both the cave theme and their battle music).

You should listen to the music from the recent Pokemon games. Some have been posted right in this thread.
 
I really enjoy Hoenn's gym battle theme the most by far, but BW has the ending credits theme and BW2 with all of the remastered gym leader and champion mixes... Tough call.

I kind of hold that as a mark against BW2 since they're really hit or miss... and more miss than hit. (IMHO, obviously)

The best example is probably how HG/SS nailed the Kanto Gym Leader theme and the BW2 mix just kind of tries to be a good tribute to the FR/LG and R/B/Y renditions at the same time and never really hits either.
 
Giratina's Battle Theme
There's something about that I really liked when I played Platinum.

Black's version of Opelucid City
Really enjoyed listening to this theme in the game.

And of course... Champion Battle from Gen 2 remakes
Call it nostalgia glasses but I think Gen 2 has somegreat themes, specially the new Lugia and Ho-Oh ones.

Completely agree with the wild Pokemon battle theme.
 
Gen V. I rate basically on battle themes and Gev V had the best ones. Gen IV had terrible battle themes outside of Cynthia. So disappointing IMO.
 
While we're on the subject of Pokemon music, anyone curious about X/Y's soundtrack should check out utuber6061's recreation of the trainer battle theme from the E3 roundtable audio.

If his early B2/W2 rival recreation is anything to go by, it should give a decent idea of what the music will sound like, but the soundfont is probably a bit different, along with a number of details in the melody.
