It seems like we've reached the end of pokemon games on the switch 1. I'm thinking of getting one, and I'll probably go with Arceus. I've finished pokemon red, so I don't really want to get let's go pikachu. In your opinion, which was the best pokemon game on the switch(and why)?

I loved Diamond. I know everybody shat on it cause it's a basic remake, unlike the previous ones where they added more stuff but it was the first time I played Gen 4, and it was a great game. I bought a special Switch Lite for it even (grey one with some pokémon drawn in the back)

And Let's Go Pikachu/Evee was also great from a nostalgic perspective, as Gen 1 remains my favourite.

Tried Sword/Shield and didn't like it, too restrictive and a bit too friendly. And an ugly mess.

I bought Scarlet after the Switch 2 upgrade and the game runs great and is interesting, but I wouldn't recommend on Switch 1.

And regarding Arceus, looked very interesting, but is focused on capturing pokémon, which isn't my favourite part of the Pokémon games.

P.S Arceus - They tried to do something different at least once in a very long time.

I haven't played Z-A yet, but the rest are pure dog shit.

I'm at loss as to why people ride that Arceus dick. The game is boring AF, with a bland, lifeless "open world".

The NPCs don't even move in Jubilife Village.

I'll give GF credit for trying something different, but like everything they've done on the Switch, it was half-arsed and needed more time in the oven.

The question here was - which of the things they released on Switch was better, and everything was so bad that Arceus, against the backdrop of this boredom, at least stands out in some way.
Because if we start looking at the quality of the games themselves, then things get really bad.

I voted for Sword and Shield.

Not the best Pokémon game. Not by a long shot. But from the Switch output it was the least boring of the bunch. That's not saying much.

Gamefreak really were lazy AF this gen.

I played Scarlet casually with my wife and really enjoyed it. It's the only one I beat on the Switch.

I'm about as casual of a Pokémon gamer as it gets. I grew up with the franchise in the 90's, but have never gotten into it as deeply as others.

After Red/Blue/Yellow, I didn't try the series again until Black and White, but I've mostly kept up with it since.

I'm really digging Z-A on SW2, but probably would've enjoyed it on SW1. It might take my fave spot over Scarlet.

I would play Heart Gold or Soul Silver.

Otherwise, Scarlet/Violet if you have a Switch 2, Legends if playing on Switch 1.

Sword and Shield are trash.

Do you only fight wild pokemon in Arceus? No gyms or other trainers, right? Is that why people say it's boring? How often do you fight in that game? Is there a final boss or do you try to fill your pokedex to complete the game? What's the final goal?
I enjoyed Let's Go. Great nostalgia fix for a geezer like me.

Let's go Pikachu games hit the right balance. only thing that sucked was the forced motion controls for capturing Pokemons,

I actually really liked Let's Go Pikachu's demo, but since I've already played the original, I don't want to spend money on it. How different of an experience could it really offer?

Agreed. I didn't like Sun and Moon, but loved X&Y. Gen 3 remakes were also fantastic 👏

This video does a good job summing up my feelings towards the game. You don't need to watch the whole video. It's split into segments that focus on particular issues.

The series has been in crisis for a long time, and given their latest product, nothing will change.

They have no particular motivation, since they'll sell millions of copies anyway. And people keep buying despite all the criticism.

If this game were set in Arceus' locations, it would be so much better. I liked the new combat system and old style trainer battles but city setting turns me off.

What about Sword and Shield? It looks cool but everyone seems to hates it. Why?
