Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

On the other hand I'd like to see what they'd do, at least stylistically. His classic design, brought into HD? Yes please.

(I don't care if it is just Conan with a whip)

I hope they stop doing the "floating platforms in front of a stage" stages, they are too lazy.

Call me crazy, but I hope they do another Adventure mode in the vein of Subspace Emissary. Sure it had some issues, but I think it really did well to tie everything all together. SSB is very much a love letter (and an encyclopedia) to Nintendo lore, and I think the adventure mode essentially put a nice bow on it. Plus it's great from a fan's perspective to see all these characters interact with each other during the cutscenes, which had a ton of personality and fun humor.
I didn't care for the mode itself, but I'd buy an extended version of the CGs on a standalone disc.

I like how Mega Man is the only character to get a unique death animation for some reason.
Maybe the others will have that as well (but you can't see them?).

  • Does anyone really, really care about Ice Climbers? IIRC the game was thoroughly mediocre.
Yes, It was one of the few multiplayer NES games that I used to played.

Classic "Conan" Simon is the way to go. I can also see Trevor Belmont of Castlevania 3 being relevant as last I remember he was the favorite of whoever was in charge... though with the new direction of the series, that's probably not true anymore.

We'll probably see less simple stages as time goes on. I can't imagine the "platforms against a background" stages are nearly as difficult to make as something like, iunno, DK's brawl stage or something.

I agree 100% with this. It's not bringing forth anything unique from the game it's taking from. The worst way to represent a franchise.

300%

Wario Ware minigames yo. Game and Watch changing stages. Hell, enviro hazards and shit, that's cool. But more stuff that really represents the game or franchise it comes from. The pictochat stage, so rad. Did we have an electroplankton stage?

Did we have an electroplankton stage?

I'd like to forget about it, personally.

Does she actually do any "bounty hunting" in any of the games? It seems all her missions are from the Galactic Federation or she just randomly crashes on some planet.

As the story goes, the Federation puts out these bounties and she's actively hunting them in 1 and 2. In Super Metroid she's just out to kill Ridley cause he's a dick.

She probably does in Metroid Prime: Hunters, I mean it's right in the name. But I haven't played the game so *shrug*.

Still, she is quite powerful with a track record of getting shit done. Dunno why she wouldn't be paid top dolla-err I mean credits.

iirc most of her missions are sorta bounty-related, in that the federation gives her the bounty for doing them.

And tbqh only Animal Crossing suffers from the static background with floating platform.

I just want to know how they will represent the SMG games.

What if they don't? Super Mario 3D World will be out before Smash 4 and 3D Land has been out for nearly 2 years now. Sakurai can easily ignore the Galaxy games because it would be 4 years since Galaxy 2.

Galaxy was ignored in Brawl despite being released in 2007. Couldn't the same thing happen to 3D World?

I'm still waiting for a flat plains Fire Emblem stage with archers shooting from outfield through the playing area, mages casting huge AoE spells, random swordspeople duking it out bringing their skirmish through the fighting area, horseback paladins and spear users charging through, and entire units/divisions reforming their ranks before starting new waves of offense in real time in the background. Basically make it look like the heat of the battles that play out in the series in real time. Add some weather effects (snow, rain, windswept grassy areas, plains on fire) and bam, best FE stage with a stage gimmick all its own.

Aaaand another poster forgot how TvC did it first. And properly too. :P

MvC made Megaman (and Roll) pop only after a certain time, otherwise they leave their bodies. TvC did it properly first by having Roll (and then Zero in the re-release) pop after being struck with a KO-ing hit much like in the games. MvC3 copied it... but failed again with Strider Hiryu. In the games, Strider Hiryu explodes upon dying but apparently MvC3 copied MvC instead of making Hiryu fresh in animation. Hell, even the music was copy-paste. Namco X Capcom had the perfect Strider Hiryu.

I can't believe that I actually forget all about Zero and Roll in TVC, especially I main Roll.

I think the only secret characters we knew about before the Japanese release (not counting leaks) were the third-party characters, Ness, and Marth. Other than that, the only reason we found out the rest of the game's roster early was because the game didn't have a simultaneous international release and Sakurai started "spoiling" stuff on the Dojo as soon as the game was out in Japan.

Yeah, we should have simultaneous international release. If we didn't then I will be disappointed.

That bring me to ask everyone a question. Since I'm making /OT/ thread, and if the game didn't get international release. I'm more likely to create a thread a week before Japan's release date. The question is that what people would like me to do with secret characters on OP? Should I avoided to put secret characters on OP until a couple of days after US release date. or should I put it up right away when they were discovered?

What? I don't remember him looking different.

Man, looking over the wiki again and most of the places that get stages are the sameplaces that get character representation. Which is... fine, but you'd think they'd take the opportunity to be more like Smashville in Brawl and show off some lesser-appreciated franchises.

Man, kinda excited looking at all the stuff since Brawl that's come out for them to draw on, not even thinking about the retro stuff they haven't touched...

I'd love a retro stage for Famicom Detective Club where you fight on the background while the player actively investigates/moves between areas.

It was just Pit's official art that changed for Brawl, his in game model stayed the same. Specifically, they changed the art to actually match his in-game model.

Kirby

Kirby's Return to Dreamland

Can't forget that one, now.

EDIT: You know what? I kinda wanna see a console Golden Sun with ATB.

I guess the standard battle system works, too, but I also don't want it to shift screens or anything for battle.

I would venture to say that, including series we already know have representation, Galaxy, 3DLand, FE: Awakening, AC: New Leaf, DKCR, the Yarn series, LoZ: Skyward Sword, the next Pokemon gen or maybe the last few as well, Xenoblade and Kid Icarus Uprising will likely get heavy rep, probably at the stage level.

What I'm interested in is the minor franchises - Pilotwings, Pilotwings, Pushmo, Rhythm Heaven...

I can see Pilotwings being an assist trophy or a stage. The latter you could battle on top of those platforms being carried around by balloons, trying to avoid passing jetpacks/hanggliders/planes etc.

If they can make a moveset for Villager and Wii Fit Trainer, there's no excuse for Mallo (Pushmo). He's a Sumo wrestler!!

If Rhythm Heaven doesn't get a WarioWare style stage where you have to attack people to a certain rhythm, it'll be a crime against humanity.

We're so going to get a Wuhu Island stage. It's used in Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort, and Pilotwings 3D, if I remember right.

Whatever happened to Wuhu Island, anyway? Didn't Nintendo want to use it as a common area for a lot of games?

Don't forget Mario Kart (though that was almost entirely because they needed to get the game out ASAP and they had something easy to dig into for course content).

When they showed off Wii Fit U last year, there were glimpses of it, so it seems like they want to keep it exclusive to the Mii series for the time being. That said I wouldn't be surprised to see it in Smash.

Come to think of it, we might get a Mii Plaza or some kind of streetpass based stage, maybe even an eShop stage.

Or a live updating Miiverse stage

That would be actually good idea. I can see it work very well for Wii U because you will have a limitation of 50 favorite mii, so we don't have to worry about overloading the mii on the stage.

I'm not sure what is the limitation of 3DS, can anyone update me on that?

There are two Wuhu Island courses in Mario Kart 7.

S&P2's underwater tunnel would make a fantastic Smash stage.

I wanted this the moment I saw it. I wanted it even more after hearing the stage themes for it.

Stage 2 (Setouichi)

And looking for youtube music from the game makes me sad since most of the BEST themes from the level aren't on YT in any way, shape or form. So, have a five part playthrough of the level instead (since no one bought the game, you jerks):

Part 1 (6:10 has kickass music)

Part 2
Part 3 (Begins with my favorite sequence in this level and 1:35 begins the single best theme in the game imo; too bad it's cut short :( )
Part 4
Part 5

#IsaandKatchiforSmash4

It's a possibility stage for Mii that is rumored to be in the game.

They could take a lazy way out by using Wuhu Island.

Dude, Nintendoland stage.

That would be the most amazing Mii related thing.

Miiverse stage for Wii U, and SwapNote stage for 3DS.
Miiverse will be on 3DS too by then.
We can have this idea for a Miiverse stage like the WarioWare one in Brawl : Miiverse drawings falling or appearing on the stage to form its solid ground (the black ink). And of course Miis on the background talking about the game (which is pretty not original - I like my previous idea much!).

We will have a Mario Galaxy stage. Don't know how they can do a 360° stage, the safest bet is the SMG1 hub copy-pasted, just like they already did for Skyloft (Zelda Skyward Sword).

Edit: Punch-Out may already have its stage. The pics with the giant screen seems to have cords in the background, like a boxe or catach ring, I don't think it's Pokémon Stadium.

I don't see why they'd drop Snake for Simon. Castlevania has obviously had a bigger presence on Nintendo consoles, but Snake's an established Smash Bros. character, and he's easily Konami's most recognizable character. His Nintendo relevance didn't mean much for Brawl, so why would it mean anything now?

There's a wealth of evidence suggesting that it's a Punch-Out stage based on the Wii game, dolled up for a fake "Smash Circuit."

If they're including Snake this time, it should definitely be Naked Snake with some Cold War era weapons.
