Wii U Games 2013

Cool. Lots of good stuff. Thought last I checked WWE2K14 wasn't coming to Wii U.
Added that clip last week and forgot to remove it after I found out it was fake 4 days ago. -_-
When I noticed I had uploaded it like that, I said "fuck this. No way am I going to render and upload 1.5GB all over again" lol

So after months if thinking it over I've finally decided to go pick up a Wii U today. Going to get the deluxe edition with a copy of New Super Mario U, maybe a pro controller, and maaaaaaybe Lego City. I'm excited for this thing and the upcoming games. I've never played a Pikmin game before but viewing the trailer and it looked like a fun title.

And Wonderful 101 just looks flat out awesome.

Unless you hate the Lego games you should definitely take the Lego CIty Undercover. Is full of content and tons of fun. My best game of Wii U until now.

Totally but it's a nintendo box for me. As a nintendo box, it's awesome. Everything else I just consider gravy on top. As long as you're ok with that, you should be pretty happy with it. There's some awesome stuff already on the system and great stuff on the horizon.

Yeah, I understand it'll be mostly for Nintendo's first party titles. I'm fine with that. I like Nintendo's offerings.

The game I most want, currently out, on Wii U. Loved Lego Batman 2 so hoping Lego City Undercover is upto that standard.

Holy shit, guys. Don't laugh but my kids and I just spent two hours playing Tank! Tank! Tank!

It's the dumbest fucking thing ever but TOOOOONS of fun. It's great, too, that it is F2P but it limits you in maps and modes and to only 3 games per 12 hour period. Seriously, though, I broke my rule and bought some DLC to remove the time limit and get new maps.

It really is lots of fun even if the graphics look last-gen. Really, it plays very much like Earth Defense Force. Big, dumb enemies in huge levels that look like 90's era 3d gaming Lego playsets and everything blows up really big and crappy.

Only bought the one map so far and I'm not sure if I'm gonna buy it piece-meal or just buy the original boxed copy off of Amazon. It really is terrific local MP for kids.

I tried to get them to play NSMBU and, even though they can hold their own in the Left 4 Dead games, the platforming was just not clicking with them. They were just kinda fucking around and dying a bunch so I remembered I heard that TTT went F2P and thought I would try it out with them.

Each player gets to take their picture and put silly costumes on it, and I don't need to tell you that kids love that kind of shit. Really, I know the game has a crappy reputation but I recommend you give it a go if you find a need for dumb, fun local MP.

Honestly, I played this with my sister when it went F2P and we played it until the free trials ran out... then we bought an extra level to remove that limit. It really is a ton of fun, at least in multiplayer, despite looking like crap. We personally really enjoyed the team modes against CPU-controlled tanks, but even the scenario modes, especially against the boss, are super fun.

I bought the Wii U version of Lego Batman 2 after Lego City Undercover and was disappointed to be honest. Undercover is a lot better. If only I could play Superman in it.:P

City tops the Bat. yes, it´s that good.

Just ordered Assassin's Creed 3 off of Amazon since I saw it was only $20 brand new and I'd always been interested in the colonial setting.

Anyone care to share their experiences? I haven't seriously attempted an Ass Creed game since 1 but Red Dead Redemption was one of my games of the generation due to all the hunting in those gorgeous forests so I'm hoping for a similar experience here.

Yeah, I haven't played all the lego games, but of the ones I have I can agree that Lego City seems to be the best. I think without any license to tie them to they could do things they normally couldn't. The opening was funny and a good way to start the game off.

Eh, I don't know, if you haven't played the recent ones, it may be worth it but i just felt like it was a very similar game to the last 3 games.... Not sure it's better than Revelations either.

Only smash is 1080p among the games you listed
Yep. From what I can gather for 1st party stuff:

1080p / 60fps
-Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

1080p / 30fps
-The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

720p / 60fps
-New Super Mario Bros. U
-New Super Luigi U
-Pikmin 3
-The Wonderful 101
-Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
-Super Mario 3D World
-Mario Kart 8 (60fps also maintained in 2 player splitscreen)
-Bayonetta 2

720p / 30fps
-LEGO City Undercover

This game is awesome, but it got a terrible reputation when it was released because it's not really worth $50. I bought the story mode and had a great time unlocking new tanks and fighting all the different monsters. Everything has its own personality to explore, making it very repayable and a great score attack game.

Yes!

Dude, all I'm gonna say - My Kong mode. It's the reason to own that game. The story mode has some neat monsters to fight too.

Damn it guys, don't make me throw fucking $40 at TANK! TANK! TANK! :-( My Kong mode sounds hella tight though and unlocking tanks sounds awesome too!

Has this been posted yet??

Absolutely amazing summary video of E-Shop & Wii U Games coming out in 2013 - 2014

Fucking great!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POeFhWV-ld8;hd=1

Awesome montage. Honestly, there is so much to look forward to it's incredible. Whoever made that video, well done!

Been giving it some thought since E3 has ended and it was just a matter of time before I purchased a Wii U this year, been itching to play the following games:

ZombieU
New Super Mario Bros. U
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Lego City Undercover

And a shit load of eShop/indie titles. That video has clinched the deal, today. :}

It's a F2P game, download it from the eShop.
If you like it, buy some missions or wathever you want but if you don't like then they just delete it.

No, I already downloaded it, guys. It's like $10 each for Kong and Story modes, and then a bunch for all the maps and shit.

I figure for all the content it'll be like $35-40 or so. I've paid more for worse.

I want a Wii u so badly but not before a price cut.
Nintendo is probably gonna make a price cut right before the holidays I guess but thats way too long :(

This looks decent. Hopefully load times are also good; Lego city was atrocious at it.

I didn't like AC1 on PC. Picked up AC3 for Wii U for $20, same as you and it was WELL worth it. LOVED the setting and atmosphere. In my opinion the game doesn't deserve most of the shit it gets on gaf other than the modern day stuff being kind of throwaway. Off TV play or minimap on the game pad see both great.

Now I just need ME3 to drop to $20 so that I can double dip.

Fine by me. In my opinion more often than not 720p60 > 1080p30.

What's Nintendo's plan for Wii Fit U? They haven't shown it for some time now despite it releasing in December. Don't think a big reveal at Gamescom, a hardcore gaming event, makes too much sense.

NSMBU is easily the hardest NSMB game, I've noticed a lot of friends have major problems with it.

Sad.

I have no idea. The delay seems odd, unless they're doing some sort of holiday bundle with it.

Your ACIII impressions might also be colored by all the post launch patches that probably fixed a lot of the bug-related issues people had with the game.

It somewhat annoys me that Ubi didn't put out the Washington Edition of the game (includes all DLC) on Wii U -.-

There's these things called Nintendo Direct ;-)

Heavily considering getting a Wii U. Really want Donkey Kong coming later this year and others.

Are you guys glad you bought the system, despite the issues?

I bought Sonic, LEGO City Undercover and Monster Hunter at the same time, so I'm pretty happy with it. I've got plenty of games to get this year and next year, too. Plus, I wasn't going to buy any of the multiplats that weren't coming to the system anyways (FFXV and KH3 notwithstanding, need PS4), so yeah, I'm pretty happy with it.

Does anyone know if A.N.N.E. is actually coming? It seems to have not reached it's Wii U goal but it looks very fun and I want it on my U!

Ok, brought home a new Wii U Deluxe and promptly went to set up. And just as promptly hit a roadblock of sorts with the WiFi setup. My network will show up but once it gets to testing connection it fails and says there's no known network. Double checked the password and everything checks out ok.

Is this is a known issue or am I just doing something wrong and overlooking a step?

My Kong mode is fantastic! If you can get 4 people together, 5 player My Kong is one of the best multiplayer experiences on the system.

I thought the game actually looked sorta nice. The boss monsters are pretty nicely detailed and you can blast different parts of them off.

Good job with this thread. I am a bit ashamed to admit this but the lack of an achievement/trophy system really hampers my excitement for the Wii U (and 3DS). Despite owning both, I find myself preferring to play on my Vita and PS3. If Nintendo had implemented a cool achievement system I'd be much more excited about the platform. Off TV play is my favorite feature (I have a reality-showing loving wife and 2 little kids) but with the Vita being able to play ALL PS4 games, it's not the showpiece feature it was one year ago.

Ugh. I have some friends that feel that way about achievements/trophies, and I personally find it absolutely asinine. Pretty good scheme the platform holders have going, to addict people to the games.

Funny, I thought fun and engaging game play used to be the hook. Not epeens.

No offense intended of course. Just don't understand it personally as that stuff doesn't do much for me.

I think it's a way so people will buy there versions of the game and not the other.

I do think Nintendo should have an achievement system, didn't they trade mark "Nintendo Accomplishments" or something? It just helps people get the Wii U version and it's not too late to implement the feature.

It is a known issue for the console before update, check this thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=502326

If you have a certain Linksys model there is an additional issue, you might try to search the forum, I remember mentioned somewhere.

I have a friend who loves his Wii U, but he's a total achievement whore. He buys shit games for his PS3 because they're "easy platinums."

He's buying Splinter Cell on PS3 instead of Wii U strictly for the trophies. "I really want the Wii U version for the game pad features and so we can play co-op, but I have to do PS3 instead for the trophies.". Direct quote. What are we coming to as gamers?

So, they actually trademarked that? Such a missed opportunity. They could've just done something like Steam and I would be quite happy.

Tell him to get the Wii U version because it can help out Nintendo in the end, and convince Ubisoft to keep supporting the Wii U in the future.

I personally don't care for achievements and trophies but I know Nintendo having there own system can help them.

I'm not 100% sure, this is the info we have about Nintendo achievements.

. In other words, the system itself has Achievements. "We will have that," Fils-Aime said. "Once you start getting into game-specific [Achievements] that's developer driven." Microsoft may require every game to have Achievements, but, Fils-Aime said, "That is not our philosophy."
