Why would GLD get Dark Knight? Dark Knights don't use swords and sheilds.
And why would MRD be a samurai they don't use two handed axes
I'm sorry. Did I get those twisted?

Doesn't have to make sense thoughWhy would GLD get Dark Knight? Dark Knights don't use swords and sheilds, as it stands right now no class in the game is fitting to become a dark knight.
And why would MRD be a samurai they don't use two handed axes, the only class that could potentially become sam at the moment is Lancer, but even then that's still weird as people think of katana's when they think sam's not lances
If anything, I see MRD becoming a beast master, and GLD becoming a red mage.
How is this compared to FF11?
My complaints about FF11:
-Forced grouping.
-No LFG system.
-Travel time
-Non-descriptive quests.
-Non-solo friendly character classes (See forced grouping).
-Long level grind.
I got to lv 40 and I just couldn't take anymore and gave up.
Jobs don't change the weapon you use from the original class.I'm sorry. Did I get those twisted?

Look at archer to bard lol
dark knight can be from thaumaturge
I always figure redmage will come from conj
What will ninja and thief come out of
Beast master is typically seen as axe based,I don't understand those comparisons. lol - I don't get most of any comparisons with the game.
If this way is "too punishing" then... I got nothing. That's like calling WoW punishing because you want to be a Tauren while your friend wants to be Undead. Really? Come on now.

1. there are many many solo options in the game. How is this compared to FF11?

This game improves on each and everyone one of those complaints you have;
-No forced grouping, solo-able to cap.
Story missions force you to run through dungeons which force you to group up.
It seems like they'd have to figure out some way around this to really get into the job system. Otherwise you're going to be stuck adding new classes for each job you want to add.Jobs don't change the weapon you use from the original class.
So jobs using new weapon like great katana and great sword would need new classes.
Yes, really. If I'm new to the game and I want to start with a friend I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed to do so? I don't like it in WoW either.
This game improves on each and everyone one of those complaints you have;
-No forced grouping, solo-able to cap.
-Implemented a LFG system called Duty Finder.
-Aetheryte/Return/Sprint for everyone, not tied to a certain class (Warp for BLM, Teleport for Whm etc.)
-Quest are descriptive, I don't see myself having to look up coords on Zam/Killingifrit for quest anymore. (Although honestly, that was partly cause I was lazy.)
-All classes can solo (Obvious some faster then others.)
-Much shorter level grind + no more magicked bones and ancient papyrus.
Not gonna lie, I enjoyed a lot of those things though. I enjoyed the level cap quest asking for absurd shit for some reason. Why do I enjoy torturing myself like that?
I actually prefer the need for new classes, it make you need to pex again.Otherwise you're going to be stuck adding new classes for each job you want to add.
I'm really tempted to try this game. I'm kinda shocked if what I'm reading is true. It sounds like they turned this game around a great deal compared to its original launch.
-Is the game purely a loot casino or is there stuff to do on the side besides kill mobs and level up?
-Any RP elements? I'm a gear whore, I'm not gonna front but it's always nice to go somewhere, be able to use emotes and RP for an afternoon.
-Any ability to interact with the game.
-Is there a day/night cycle? (This killed TOR for me...but I'm a strange one...that world felt far to static/plastic/fake). Weather?
-Hows the performance? I can run planetside 2 on med/high settings, Guild wars 2 on med-high and TOR on high...etc. Is the game super laggy in cities?
-Ok, final question (for now) how's the UI compared to FF11? I remember the UI being a menu clusterfuck on my PC. Was really annoying. Looks like there's a good hotbar and they changed it up. Am I correct in that the UI is good money. Cause it LOOKS damn slick in screenshots.
I put in a beta application...here's to hoping they're still accepting. Man, I'm actually excited to play an MMO...wtf is happening to me...
I hope there's one that removes the stupid face tattoo from manqo'tewill there be more face options in the final game?

-Marauder fits Dark Knight like a glove. The only thing that is stopping it is the great axe, but great axes fit Dark Knights perfectly outside tradition (which even then, with how weird FFXI weapon patterns could be, great axes were often DRK weapons, alongside WAR).
Honestly, Gladiator fits Dark Knight just as well. Cecil from FFIV and Dark Knights from FFT both used Sword+Shield. Having the thematic balance of Paladin and Dark Knight would be nice as well. (Not to mention Yoshida using it as an example of multiple jobs from a single class).
Of course, I can also see it coming from Marauder like you said.
I'm wondering if they've done that for the same type of reason I suspected male mithra weren't in FFXI. You don't want everyone picking a race that isn't supposed to be the most populous. I think the had the same thing in mind when they added female 'galka' and removed the tails. Although I think removing the tail did more harm than good for people wanting to play 'galka' (I liked my galka in XI, roeg looks boring in XIV), I do seem to recall them stating that it was specifically the reason why they removed them. It's not a tattoo, it's supposed to be a natural marking or something of that sort.
They already stated they will not be removing it as it's part of the identity of them
Not to sure exactly, they didn't really say it was for that reason. They said they wanted to races to have actual defining characteristics to them that are not removable.I'm wondering if they've done that for the same type of reason I suspected male mithra weren't in FFXI. The problem with making GLD into dark is that redmage get's screwed over into being a pure caster which is what they are not
I can't figure out a few things, so I have some questions.
Are there talents like World of Warcraft? When do these come into play?
What are the job/class roles? I guess the Paladin is a tank.
When is the open beta? Does Phase 3 begin again next weekend?
You can change your job class just by switching what weapon you have equipped? I don't get this. It sounds awesome that I can have one character as everything, but I don't understand the mechanics at all.
Not really.
1. Introduce a "spell blade" class.
2. Branch it into Red Mage and Blue Mage
3. ???
4. Seems like it works to me.
Conversely, making GLA a Red Mage makes Red Mage mostly a tank (without overhauling GLA to the point of near unrecognizability), and while I personally don't have a problem with that, some people might.
So do we know if the final game will have zones outside of the three cities and a few various La Noscea/Black Shroud/Thanalan zones? Seems like those make up the entirety of the world so far, and even if they're rather varied I find that somewhat disappointing since that feeling of three (supremely vast and repetitive) zones compromised the game world at XIV's original launch... I hope ARR has something beyond that.
- No.
- Paladin and Warrior are two flavors of tank (case classes are Marauder and Gladiator). Monk and Dragoon are melee DPS (classes are pugilist and lancer). Black Mage is ranged magic DPS (class is thaumaturge). White Mage is a healer (class is conjurer). Bard is ranged DPS with aura-like support skills (class is archer). Class roles are similar, but slightly more blurred due to additional cross-class ability setting. Think of jobs as like prestige classes.
- Not announced yet. And yes, phase 3 should continue next weekend.
- Yes, you can. There are no mechanics to it, really. Just go to the guild for that class and ask to join and IIRC they give you a level 1 weapon which you can then equip and instantly change jobs. You can't switch in combat or inside instances, though.

Yes, you can login to any character on your account on PS4 once you add the PS4 code to your account upon release.
You have to buy the pc and ps3 version seperately. The ps4 version will be ported for that system, so there's another disc or code to buy.Huh?
You never had to add codes for new platforms in FFXI.
The only reason to buy again was to have the disc to put in a new console for authentication. (Because of platform-holder bullshit)
But if you bought on say, 360, you could just download the PC version and it would work when you signed in.
Sucks if they really changed that.
