Dendi has done the same shit and worse..as well as singsing. I don't like EE that much but people are outraged just because it's him.

Mute system works pretty damn well for the most part from what I have seen. Unless you're in the rare position of being chain reported by mumble GAF as a joke, you were probably being a jerk and deserve to be muted. Stop being so aggressive and you wont get muted.

And living armor isn't broken. You just need to pick intelligently against him. Jakiro, Venomancer, Viper, Gyro, Batrider all do awesome. High damage heroes like Luna, Sven do fantastic as well. Play smarter not harder.

Don't try to protect your wood waifu - he's gonna get turned into a nerf bat pretty soon.

Game ID 196957800, EE repeatedly rages, then tells a guy to go kill himself, the guy replies to watch his words as his brother commited suicide, then EE replies that the guy to commit suicide like his brother did.
He has a nasty nasty streak that surfaces too often, stop sticking up for this behaviour.

Find me Dendi or Sing saying anything like that.

My favorite hero is Invoker but I can't understand the new flavour of the month with Invoker rushing Wex and Exort.
Quas Exort seems better for ganks still, and Quas Wex for more supportish role

Watch their streams.

Laughing at other people while you're playing is one thing...but to tell someone who just told you that their brother committed suicide that they should commit suicide like their brother is going too far.

I don't watch their streams, but I highly doubt they are doing anything close. Haven't heard of it at least.

Not at all doubting they have smurf accounts, though.

Kill yourself is a pretty common "diss"
Probably same as the other f-word

Why should he be held to higher standards? He's just a pretty good dota player that plays in tournaments and makes bad life decisions. He's not even sponsored. Who cares? If you don't like it don't watch his streams/videos, done.

It's more of a "we want to elevate eSports to a level of mainstream acceptability, and these kind of people hurt that goal" mentality.

If eSports is dominated by a bunch of punk kids, no one is going to give a shit and the community won't be that great.

The boundary to mainstream isn't the conduct of the players, it's the acceptance of video games as a legitimate hobby/pastime. 40+ year old people won't ever take video games seriously enough for that to happen. The limiting factor is time here, cleaning up the community (EDIT: to that extent) won't do anything to speed it up. See: SC2. Obviously it can't be a shitshow.

And again, the system is self moderating. If a player is undesirable in either conduct or ability he or she won't get sponsored, or their team's won't get invites to tournaments. No point in getting upset about it, it'll resolve on its own.

I just hope he doesn't ever actually get sponsored, he is just a whiny unlikable bitch.

I'm not upset or anything, just explaining why people care if these people act like idiots or not. Bad role models as eSport players.

Well, Dendi did yell "FUCK YOU!" during TI2 at one point during a match on stage. Not that I think it really matters. If people want to act like asshole, professional or not, all they have to do is make a smurf account and do it (and not stream it) without fear of repercussion. EE's problem was that he was streaming it.

Nah that would be like a pro ballplayer joining a local softball team. Putting on a fake mustache, then kicking people in the balls. Pro players should be like beacons of shining light. Someone calls you out, you say sorry brah I'm a pro player.

This. Look at the immaturity of most basketball/soccer/football players. They say dumb shit and lose sponsorships or get fined (same deal happens in dota with the fine here being the mite system), but that doesn't completely delegitimize the sport.

Video games aren't taken seriously as a sport because most of our parents' generation see video games as the equivalent of playing with action figures; a childish waste of time that is at best an unhealthy hobby. I think that'll change slowly over time.

Problem is EE is not sponsored. So aside from twitch streaming (more viewers means doing crazier shit) and tourney winnings, he is unchecked. He answers to no-one.

Except that is a terrible analogy and wouldn't be like that at all.

dota has always had one of the most offensive communities but the player base has also always been of late teens to young alduts. children generally don't play it simply because 1) it's a complex game and 2) it isn't a shooter where some kid gets lucky headshots and goes on a killing spree like call of duty. the way the camera was set up also never seemed to appeal to kids

having said that, people like taking a shit on ee because he's a japanophile, maybe autist and got kicked out of the team he created. i'm not an ee fan or anything, but many people are just joining the mob or nancies who get offended by anything like some of the posters in this thread and on leddit

Mute system works pretty damn well for the most part from what I have seen. Unless you're in the rare position of being chain reported by mumble GAF as a joke, you were probably being a jerk and deserve to be muted. Stop being so aggressive and you wont get muted.

the mute system is completely automated. you can't seriously believe that isn't flawed.

to give you an idea of how bad it is, i had 17 reports to give away at the beginning of last week (or whenever this thing went live. i just remember that's how many i had when i first bothered to report someone in a while). playing like shit? well np, you're getting reported. as long as people keep doing that every game and the guy curses once, he's done

Well, pro athletes NEVER curse during games/matches....

This thread was better when realtalk was happening.

Just because you get muted every other day doesn't mean it isn't working appropriately :p

I'm sick of being forced to pick support cause no one else will and then the carries being useless :/

Bloody pubs

The best cure I found for this was to just lock in a carry/mid before other people pick, then call out your roll in chat. To test this awhile back, I made a new account and solely picked Phantom Lancer, AM, Gyro, Nyx, etc. before anyone else picked and said "Bot" or "Mid" respectively for the hero I chose. Sub 100 games (honestly I think it was sub 60 games) I was queuing in the very high bracket on that account. Granted it wasn't the very high of the very high (I've been told there are sub-tiers, which make sense).

Ironically, this actually made me just want to keep playing my main account now and not really caring who I queue with (see: usually friends that don't play often or aren't very good at DotA), and to just have more fun/screwing around.

It's like picking vs TA when she was overpowered. Just pick something that does damage in small increments very often. Slark works too, Dark Pact removes all of the armor charges with one spell.

Bububu the reddit circlejerk told me otherwise.

I actually have the inverse problem...I like playing support characters, so when the team magically picks a ton of weak supports, I'm suddenly put in a position where I need to play a carry/semi-carry and don't feel that great.

It's not that I can't play those roles, its just that I haven't fine-tuned playing them nearly to the degree that I have with supports.

Should probably get more well rounded, anyways, I suppose.

What if the mode is random draft and he's last pick?
