Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

Man, with the Vita we could get a proper Heroes of Might and Magic game, not just a cruddy spinoff. THINK BIG!

I know, but Sony would need to care about the Vita for that kind of game to be made, they seem much more willing to chase after ports(which im not totally against ports).

I bought it -- it's fun and worth the price. It's not going to replace Sine Mora for me as my Vita shmup of choice, but it's a good thing to have on my system.

Some of the trophies are glitchy.

Some of the trophies are hardcore.

I think, in all honesty, the only PJ game I really liked was Sidescroller.
PJM isn't my type of game and I loathe the art style.
PJS and PJS2 were just boring to me... something didn't click.
PJE I kind of liked, but some of the controls and such got to be a chore so I stopped playing.
Given my love of shmups, PJSidescroller is the closest thing I've seen to the oldschool 2D shmups like Lifeforce and Gradius. I haven't spent nearly enough time with it, but I thought it was a way better use of the assets from PJS.

With my luck, they'll port everything except Sidescroller. :P

I loved Sidescroller, Shooter and Shooter 2, Eden, and Monster. The only one I didn't like is Racers. I agree that I'd LOVE to see them to Sidescroller next.

have the wii game...(Muramasa)

combat is very fun. once you figure out the combo system and get 100+ combos with OTGs (think marvel vs capcom) its quite enjoyable. i never found the boss fights difficult. the sword upgrade system wasn't a big deal, but I wound up never making most of the swords that seemed cool and just stuck to the 2 I liked.

never cared about beating it with the male character.

i don't think the game is worth $40, but I wouldn't question someone paying around $20 for it.

I wish Sony could convince Ubisoft to port Heros of Might and magic: clash of heroes to Vita.....I would buy. I would not mind outland either to be honest. Lots of great PSN games I would rebuy on Vita, though yopo would be preferred.
Man why would you want that crap when you could get the real deals?

I would much prefer the real deal, i would kill for it. I just know Sony would not bother going after it, though I guess it could not hurt to mention it to Shahid since Ubi seems like one of the last major western third parties willing to support the Vita.

ok - we just gotta stop talking about amazing games that'll never make to the vita...it just makes it more depressing. haha. maaaan HOMM3 - portable. a dream. still want to buy HOMM on iOS.

I actually am curious what people think/hope will be the next 3 free "Long term" games are going to be. those get swapped in november right?

I think one will be Resistance or Unit 13. maybe PSASBR?

is there a game you don't love? you seems to love everything, Van-chan.

I'm with Corrosivefrost here, PixelJunk series is really horrible.

On the #jrpgvita(and in the relative thread) i suggested heroes of might & magic 3 lol. If you think about it ti would make too much sense, ubisoft is supporting vita, homm3 resolution is 800x600 that is a perfect fit for the 960x544 screen and needs no work, it should be relatively easy to port...
Might & maigc vi hd would be glorious too!

EDIT:
mmx legacy is made with unity right? Mmx legacy on vita would make sense too!

I want Magic the Gathering on Vita. God! I'm such an addict...

Now that you made me think about this, where's my new yugioh tag force game konami? >:(

he lists one in the post you quoted!

said he "didn't like" Racers, I want games he absolutely hate.

Oh my goodness, there's MANY. I just tend to talk about the games I like. :)

you need to start talking about them, to help and save our fellow Vitabros some money.

Now that you made me think about this, where's my new yugioh tag force game konami? >:(

Konami don't even want to put PES on Vita and you ask for Yu-Gi-Oh. :/

I don't know if I'd say I absolutely HATE any game I've played. There's not even many Vita games I've played I don't like, although I obviously haven't bought every single Vita game. I don't like Little Deviants, CoD Declassified, Modnation Racers Road Trip, didn't like VLR but I only played the demo, not a big fan of Resistance, AC3 Liberation, Foosball 2012, and thought R&C Free For All was a terrible port.

That's all I can think of.

so how are people enjoying muramasa. seen a lot of HM impressions...but way less MRebirth talk than i thought.

Maybe because people are playing it? :)

Personally, I like it a lot. The option to map the buttons is very nice and makes it way easier to play than with the original mapping. Graphics look incredible on the Vita screen. The backtracking is not as awful as I thought it would be, although it leaves you wanting a way to backtrack faster.

I am really digging the sword crafting and the combat. It requires some strategy, but not so much as to deter from the action.

Another thing I also like a lot is that the story is not that heavy and dense, which lets me just pick it up and play and even follow it without worrying that I will miss something. Think of the story (and the whole game in general), as a lighter version of Odin Sphere but with better combat that needs a bit more strategy.

Overall I really like the game. If you get let us know what you think!

Well konami made 6, SIX, yugioh games for psp, i guess they were profitable lol.
Konami is just plain stupid though, they don't even make pes for next gen consoles :\

My bet will be Little Big Planet Vita and PSASBR.

I want Magic the Gathering on Vita. God! I'm such an addict...

I have been a long time wishing for a client of Magic Online for handhelds, so I don't have to be always on the PC when I want to play.

About Life of Pixel, I liked the game, I got the 100%, however the leapts of faith in the late stages are infuriating even after the patch. Also I missed a lot a table with your time records in each stage.

i'm not into the their "duels" series as it's still paying for something you have no control over. if you had a pool of cards you have 100% free control over, Id be there. never happen though

I'm kinda hooked on Duels of the Planeswalkers on PS3. I know it's not proper fullon Magic since you can't really build your own deck but it's enough for me. You get about 100 cards to make a deck out of so there are some customisation options there. I'm not sure I'm where I need to be to play the real deal with full deck building. But I can play Duels for hours. I find it so hypnotic... especially if stoned :-). Would kill for it on Vita but I am only saying that because I am away from my PS3 and itching for it ha ha!

Think the new one has 100% build option though not sure...

next gen consoles and Vita can't handle this

....

I think after Silent Hill: Book of Memories MGS HD and New Little King's Story bombing bad on Vita, Konami just don't see Vita as a viable platform for their games.

Man why would you want that crap when you could get the real deals?

Oh my goodness, any of the original HOM&M games would be an instant buy for me! Vita controls plus touch screen makes so much sense. Now that I think about it many strategy games would make sense.

no. there are sealed pools that you have reign over (6 random packs of 14 cards) but those sealeds are locked in stone once you're done. not really the same

the other duels don't give you even enough control over your deck because as you unlock cards for a current deck, you cannot omit cards that are part of the normal 60. You end up with a deck above 60 cards which is a huge no-no

Did the mgs collection really bomb? Shbom bombing is normale due to the hate and it not being perfect, but nlks sold in japan better than the wii version right? And in august it will probably be an eu ps+ free game.

Yeah i know, people is too focused on asking for jrpgs, but vita would be perfect for tactic(xcom for example), strategy(homm for example), managerial(sim city for example), rts(starcraft and red alert for example) and other mouse/touchscreen based genres.

well didn't see MGS HDVita charting anywhere.

Um, my preorder for Warrior's Lair got cancelled..vapourware confirmed?

Designer on Warrior's Lair (Ruin) posts on forum, says it will likely never release.
(this thread from last april)

so yeah, I think SCEA killed it.

Is worm on vita a news?
llllllll.jpg

EDIT:
no lol
I get the feeling people on here are starting to follow me on Twitter, keep seeing my tweets and conversations popping up in threads all over the place :P

But nah, was announced a long time back as coming this year. Team 17 has Superfrog on the way too I believe.

is there a game you don't love? you seems to love everything, Van-chan.

I'm with Corrosivefrost here, PixelJunk series is really horrible.

Was going reply with something along the lines of "Even if you don't like the PixelJunk games, they're far from what any normal person would call "horrible""; but then I realized who's post I was replying to...

PJ Sidescroller is great; both of the Shooter games are terrific; Monsters and Eden are decent; and both of the Racers are "meh". I'd say that all of them would be great on the Vita if they weren't all so relatively old and over-exposed at this point.

Now that you made me think about this, where's my new yugioh tag force game konami? >:(

But... HoMM3 isn't a #jrpg O_o

I'd love some of the Magic games on this thing too.

Don't. Likely to be on Plus if it already hasn't for you guys. It was free in Asia when it launched.

Unlikely.
Besides, paying $4 to support the developer in this case isn't a bad thing. They've been trying for MONTHS to get through SCEA approval.
Besides, SCEA is just going to keep giving us PSP games until they run out. Then they'll move to PSOne games.

My bet will be Little Big Planet Vita and PSASBR.
I'm kind of hoping we get a bump to three games - it will have been almost two years since launch. Those two games I expect yeah, depends though as the latter has been on sale a *lot* on the Store. Might see Declassified if there's no CoD this year too.

You can remove any cards you want from the deck apart from lands which you have no control over. Pretty sure you have free reign to remove cards that were part of the starting sixty. I have never been blocked from removing a card that I have tried to. I'm trying to get the decks I use down to sixty but it's tough. Currently at around 70 for each but I love all of them... :-(

I think after Silent Hill: Book of Memories MGS HD and New Little King's Story bombing bad on Vita, Konami just don't see Vita as a viable platform for their games.

New Little King's Story bombed because it was digital only in the US and grossly over-priced, and Silent Hill: BoM was a mediocre game that got considerably better when it eventually got a big patch and DLC update. Neither of these failures can be blamed directly on the vaibility of the Vita; rather, they failed at the publisher and developer levels, respectively.

Same story goes for how the MGS HD "collection" was handled on the Vita: Peace Walker was removed from the package, yet the pricetag was the same as the superior console versions and the games couldn't be purchased separately on the PSN Store. Complete ignorance on Konami's part, not that anyone should be surprised. If/when the MGS series becomes completely irrelevant, Konami will have to bow out of its game publishing business altogether.

It was Peace Walker that was removed, not Snake Eater.

Didn't Milestone also do WRC3, which made it onto NA PSN via Namco Bandai (help me out, Takao!)..?

There's a chance, with any luck.

Yes, Namco US released the previous two Milestone Vita games (WRC3, MUD: FIM Motocross Challenge) on PSN.

Sega seems to have been successful with their F2P games. Samurai & Dragons is still getting new content, and was launched in more Asian countries. And PSO2 is apparently over 500k users now, including the 100k (IIRC) or so premium retail copies sold. I don't think this is something they're just mindlessly pursuing because F2P is the latest fad - it's clearly a business model that has had some degree of success on the platform, and it's probably something the 3DS and Nintendo's infrastructure won't be able to support as well in the immediate future.

PSO2 is a real game, unlike the majority of Japanese F2P titles, and who knows how much of Samurai & Dragons' success can be attributed to being an early title on the platform. Vita seems to be getting the iffy Japanese F2P releases, that are more so cheapo trading card game than actual games. As DiscoJer pointed out, F2P games traditionally make most of their money from a tiny subset of users called whales. With Vita's userbase being so low I can't imagine there's too many whales to be found, and dumping a tonne of F2P games that the userbase can't support can only hurt things.

Confirmation of this here:

"Q-Games is excited and proud to announce a partnership with UK-based Double Eleven Ltd., the team behind the impressive conversion of Little Big Planet and Limbo for PlayStation Vita. While we’re holding the exact details behind our partnership close to the vest, we’ll have more specifics about our exciting collaborations in the near future. The future of the PixelJunk series has never looked brighter."

Sounds like it's Vita related since they cite the two ports there.

LBP Vita isn't a port : / I have no clue as to why Sony went with that title.

Well konami made 6, SIX, yugioh games for psp, i guess they were profitable lol.
Konami is just plain stupid though, they don't even make pes for next gen consoles :\

Konami hasn't made a real Yu-Gi-Oh! game since 2011. There's been nothing on 3DS either.

Unit 13 is coming free in EU next month.

I'm thinking Resistance - never price dropped, LBP - tons of DLC, PSABR - tons of DLC

Ugh, Sony better have something up their sleeve to make up for this, like a Diablo III port.

SCEA sound like it's focusing completely on PS4 at this point, I think it was done for SCE San Diego Studio to just put everything they have on MLB The Show PS4.

I really can see SCEA even forcing Bend Studio to switch to PS4 with ND or SSM helping maybe like Ready at Dawn, Vita still have SCEE and SCE Japan Studio tho (lol).

Make sure to get the two soul sacrifice dlc!

SS is really awesome. I want all the Japanese dlcs to be released here already.

and I want a sequel that is bigger and better, and an anime. also a Libron plushie.

Ouch. I wouldn't really call myself a trophy whore in that I /need/ to 100% my games, and as much as I really appreciate getting additional trophies when I buy DLC, I cannot stand having incomplete percentages pay-walled off behind expensive DLC. For Escape Plan of which is nearly 5 times the cost of the base game at this pricepoint, $15, or $18.75 total. And the storage space I believe it takes up now being a lot.

Maybe I'll pass on it :x

I still don't understand why the games don't increase percentages.
Game: 100%, Plat. DLC Trophies added on top: 120% once earned, for instance.
Having your percentage lower is just..nonsensical.

They had Asylum for free at first I think and one of the others was for 99cents the first week it was out. So I just nabbed it before I even had the game.

lwvEBKK.png

PSNProfiles not only reports the 67% completion but revokes the S rank as well :'(

At the very least they could offer sales on the DLC as well.

DLC gives them revenue on games they put on PS+

So when are Sony going to release Netflix Vita app in the UK. (I have it on PS3. )

or what is the reason they have not done this yet ?
