Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

No, but don't they partially own the studio behind xenoblade? Like a second party arrangement?
Yeah, Monolith is basically Nintendo's. The Last Story was apparently a joint effort with Nintendo, at least financially. So literally no chances to see those two games anywhere else, unless Nintendo goes bankrupt or something.

I wasn't allowed to play M games until I turned 13. Rated T games were different, at 8 or 9 it depended on the game but once I hit 10 my parents didn't care about them since they felt I was mature enough. My sister (5) watches me play stuff like Persona and sometimes Borderlands. She isn't interested when I play Call of Duty or GTA but totally understands the concepts (her teacher said she's extremely mature for her age, likely because she's has two brothers, 20 (me) and (16) to learn from).

It all depends on the child. Some kids are the kind that are totally mature enough to play a rated M game at 10 or 11, while some should wait until they're 16 or even 17.

But all in all, don't be the parent that lets your kid play violent video games and then gets a bitch fit when they mimic something from said game or repeat a line from GTA. In that case obviously the child wasn't mature enough and you made a poor judgement call as a parent. Own up to the blame, don't place it on the game.

Monolith Soft is a Nintendo first-party, so you won't ever get Xenoblade on another platform.

The Last Story and Pandora's Tower were just published and not developed by Nintendo, so there might be a small possibility for them (unless they were funded by them, I don't know about this). Unlikely though.

I left my Vita downloading HLM for a while and when I started it again the download was paused and only halfway. I hate when this happens, downloads in sleep mode are unreliable as hell.

So apparently my Vita automatically pauses downloads immediately when going into sleep mode. I'm pretty sure it was not like that before. What's happening?

Do I have to touch the screen every minute to download HLM? That sucks.

Shouldn't have to pay import fees on it, VG+ are very good about it and I've never once paid customs when importing from them. To answer your question, the game is very much playable on JP/Asia versions. Navigating menus and soforth is a cinch, so you shouldn't have any trouble really.

Thank you. I don't want to import it myself because the customs tends to check my stuff. I guess it is because of my foreign name...
I don't have a problem with paying the import fees, it just happens that my customs office is a 20-30 minute drive away. I don't have a car and the public transportation sucks in this rural area. Overall it's not worth the trouble for one game.

I also tried importing from VGP.ca once and had a pretty bad experience. My DS3 didn't get delivered and they hadn't answered my mails for 3 months. When I thought everything was lost, they finally answered and shipped a new one, which got into customs.

Even though DJMax Technika Tune would be manageable without any Japanese knowledge, I prefer a full English experience. Maybe I get lucky on ebay.

oh well. they should release it on their eShop.. but I digress on the Vita thread. haha.

Sony should learn some things from Nintendo though...
Club Nintendo - Club Sony would be nice... (who doesn't want a Kratos plushie.. lol)
Streetpass - rather than near... (I can't even login to my school's WiFi because it's WPA2 Enterprise.. so no luck getting those near distance records)
Miiverse - LittleBigPlanet and Sackboy would be awesome for this (instead of Home)

oh well. can't have everything...

was cleaning up some of my brother's Wii and NDS games... and realised how many IPs hasn't come to the next-gen :/

Depends what you mean by 'better'. :P

What are you enjoying about it so far? If it's the battles, then.. there's a lot more of those to come. If it's the characters and story, then.. there's a lot more of that to come, as well! It's a long game. What difficulty are you playing on? The lower the difficulty the less time you'll be spending in battles, obviously. And the more time you'll have to spend with Rise.

I love the atmosphere, plot, characters and the whole social life within the game. I like the "real world" more than being inside the TV so far.

so just how terrible is Escape Plan?

ive very rarely regretted buying a game for less than $5 bucks but some of the Vita PSN games ive bought have been total stinkers not worth anything, such as EscapeVektor, Sine Mora, Retro City Rampage, etc

so worth the $4?

it looks like touch screen controls takes up a large portion of the game and i hate that stuff

i LOVED machinarium on Vita though, because even though it was a point and click and you could use touchscreen, buttons were implemented as well

Have been playing Hotline Miami for some time and it's awesome! It controls very well, even though targeting can be sensitive with the right stick to start out with. Moving the view by sliding the touch-screen while locking on enemies isn't the easiest of things either but it works pretty well, so it's a great game so far. :)

Persona 4: Golden is also picking up little by little, I'm only 3 hours in and have had two battles so far. Does it get better further into the game?

Another thing, I take it, that Jak & Daxter don't have as bad a framerate as first thought when you get further into it?

And any Europeans using Wake-Up Club?

Yes, I'm using Wake-Up Club regularly and I love it so far. It's pretty funny and makes me somehow looking forward for getting up ;)
I only wished I could use me own alarm sounds (i.e. an MP3)

there's a demo for the game.
I liked what I tried of the demo but the filesize may be an issue for many (esp after the patches... bloats up to 2GB+)

Ah, okay. Sorry to hear that. I think you were probably just unlucky, but yeah, check eBay! It's such a good game.

I think you'll enjoy it a lot, then. You'll probably find yourself needing to do a little bit of grinding for a few bosses, but as long as you utilize your different Personas correctly you shouldn't have too much difficulty. It just might take a while to learn that if you're a newcomer to the series, I guess?

But yeah - my favourite part of the game is the character building and social links that you find and build as well. There is a lot of that, and you'll probably miss some of it on your first playthrough.

Snarky? Sorry if it came off that way, but it wasn't intended. That was a genuine question.

Haha, oh. Sorry. Your responses were so curt I mistook them for sarcasm.

Like I mentioned earlier, I currently love and hate it. I love the game's humor. Oozing with personality. From the way the two "things" you control walk to the canned laughter everytime you die. It appears more control options were added with some GARGANTUAN updatess, but they're still pretty frustrating. The back touchpad is especially clumsy. So I've been playing for like 15 minutes at a time as to not get too frustrated. I definitely think it's worth the $4.

Let's say that you'll need to spend a few hours in the TV world every month. Unless you know the mechanics in and out, you'll definitely need to explore a dungeon at the very least twice to clear it (once to discover/level up, a second time to get to the top/defeat the boss). Depending of your understanding of the game mechanics, it can be a grind or pretty easy. Fuse personas linked to your social links to get big EXP boosts, think about going there on rainy days to get more materials to sell for money, and so on.

The TV world is pretty much a chore only if you try to rush it without knowing what you're doing. Then you'll die a lot and it'll make the game terribly frustrating.

After playing Hotline Miami with a M/KB, 360 pad, DS3, and Vita I've come to the conclusion that the Vita is the best way to play this game. The controls are so tight and everything just feels natural.

My thoughts exactly. My only complain is the touch-only targeting, I wish at least the right stick was clickable. That might make it more strategical though, as you need to stand still when targeting, maybe outside a room planning your strategy and first target before entering. Might be a pain in the later stages :P

For anyone interested, Nunnageddon (on Playstation Mobile) released in Spain and Japan today. I think Dan is working on getting it to other countries still :)

What type of controls are you using?

The touch controls to lock on? Or the right stick to aim? You can also use the square button to lock on. I feel that's the best option for me so far.

Has there been any word on a price reduction for the 32G cards? I want to pick up a bunch of the digital-only titles, but I can't store shit on my current card. $100 is so beyond ridiculous to me. It blows my mind that Sony hasn't dropped the price yet either. Maybe I would contribute to some better software sales if I could actually store their games!

So what's this thing I hear about the new localization for Muramasa being somehow bad? I seem to have missed that particular discussion.

Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier looked pretty ugly on the Vita. I wish I bought the game on my other account to play it on the PSP.

So, how do PS1 games look on the vita? Do they also look more ugly in comparison to playing them on the PSP?

FF9 and Wild Arms looking AMAZING imo~

I tried the demo once. About 30 seconds in it asked me to swipe the screen left or right to make the character go in that direction or the other. Immediately upon seeing this I closed the demo and deleted it as quickly as possible.

Just my luck. I only buy PSOne games with my US account because of the 50hz/black bars issue :(
I hope they'll do a similar sale for the US store.

Same. I'd love to get SotN but I don't want to play an inferior version, thanks. :/

So no Vita-specific sales? Not really a great surprise.

Right, but the game has been updated extensively. You can do most things with the dpad and face buttons now.

Damn it, my Vita has the "cannot type 'v' and 'g' keyboard buttons"-bug.

It seems, there is a dead area above the USB-slot on the touch surface.

Did a factory reset, but to no avail, unfortunately...

Sucks, if you cannot connect to the Playstation store if your emailadress has one of those letters in it.

Guess, I need to contact the Sony support line. :(

Wow! Your right, thanks.

If I buy it on the vita, will I still get it on the PS3. Or does cross buy only work the other way around?

In my experience, if you buy from PS3 you instantly get both, and if you buy from Vita then it initially gives you only the Vita version, but your account can now "buy" the PS3 version for free afterwards.

Calling Sine Mora "a total stinker"?

Get the fuck out of here. The Vita port is amazing and holds the 60fps framerate pretty spectacularly. Sure, some shmup fans might not like the game design, but the game is a technical marvel on the Vita and true to its console/PC counterparts.
Then again, I'm a bit biased, having quadruple dipped on the game.

Before I do anything stupid, there's no problems in changing memory cards right? Thinking of making my 8GB card as the 'Final Fantasy' card.

As long as the 2nd memorycard is of the same account, there is no issue.

It's only when swapping accounts (like a US and JP one) that you need to go through all the system restore and junk.

I'd advise turning off the system while switching though, just to be on the safe side.

It's the grasshopper mask you can unlock that makes you start with a drill. The drill is a finishing weapon where you knock over the person and proceed to drill into a guys temple.

Lots-O-Points :)

That sounds awesome.

Top of the page. Download Farming Simulator demo (if you're in the US - buy it if you're in the EU!).
Buy Velocity Ultra when it releases in the US next week
And buy Nunnageddon on PSM

^ And Check out PS Mobile this week... a lot of High Quality looking stuff this week!

(...is the Twitter embedding gone already?)

Shahid just tweeted Gunslugs is coming to Vita, ported by Abstraction Games (Hotline Miami port).

EDIT: They teased it on their site - http://abstractiongames.com/secret-sneak-peek/

Should hold us over nicely, while awaiting a Mercenary Kings native Vita Port ;)

Also looks like it shouldn't take up THAT much memory, which I always find as a bonus with Vita games. I prefer multiple small, high quality games, rather than having 3 or 4 multi-gig memory-sinks.

I'm surprised but I like the vita version best as well due to tap to lock on.
