George Zimmerman (killer of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin) found not guilty

How is she not lying? She has been caught in 3 different lie's now they are trying to flesh out if she lied more she just admitted she changed the story in the deposition in which the mother was present. That alone is a big no no, her whole testimony is "maybe, coulda, I don't know"

Which three different lies? People lie all the damn time, if the lies aren't particularly relevant however, I feel like it's just a shitty tactic to label someone a liar in the context of the case.

Its clearly mental fatigue. "Trayvon Martin started the Fight" started now

It started because he said she was focusing on curling her hair
she said "yes sir"
Then the defense said Trayvons voice was low
she said "yes sir"
then defense asked if the get off get off was 'low'
she said "yes sir"
then defense asked if trayvon approached Zimmerman
she said "yes sir"

Then defense went next "Trayvon Attacked Zimmerman"

Regarding the "why is he repeating the questions so much?" posts, this is an extremely common tactic for finding out whether someone is lying. Keep asking the same question but word it as a new one and hit the person with the question at unexpected times. If the person is truly lying they'll blurt out the alibi one time and the truth the next. Cops, for instance, do it a ton when they pull over someone they think is driving slightly drunk. They sometimes innocuously ask "so where are you headed", and carry on a conversation for 5 minutes before asking "so where are you headed?" again and checking for inconsistencies.

She's already proved she has lied before multiple times. The repeated questioning is to find out if there are any other lies she's told.

He is making himself look like an idiot. This is almost comedic. "what does wetgrass sound like do you know what get off means *repeats for hours*"
You may think it's silly, but he's trying to wear her down. His job was to discredit her, and add doubt to her testimony. He's done that.

He has also planted, more so than ever, the idea of Trayvon first approaching Zimmerman thus starting the fight. No matter if it's true or not, it's now in their heads. It's up to them to decide if they believe it all or not.

The defense isn't doing anything out of the ordinary. I've been a juror on cases that were way more minor than this one and I've seen the same thing before even then.

At the cost of looking like a bully to the jurors?! That's where the backfire comes in.

Attorney could do more harm than good for the defense by continuing to badger the witness like this. Then again, if she does slip up at any point she'll have invalidated the entire testimony so it may be worth it.

The last thing the defense needs is for the Jury to see this witness as sympathetic, she's doing a great job at avoiding that by being super sassy though.

It establishes her character, though.

Maybe - but what about her character is it establishing?

She lied about why she didn't go to the wake - she originally said it was because she had to go to the hospital, but when pressed she said that she couldn't do it, emotionally.

The other lie was going along with peoples assumptions that she was 16 (when she was 18), then reinforcing it with lies - her reasoning was basically because she didn't want to do any of these things as an adult.

The second lie I think is more relevant, but even then it happened before the hearing started.

As a lot of people here have said, this can be painful to watch. Now imagine how the jury feels. This has gone on way too long and is only getting worse for the defense. The jury most likely also feels her frustration along with their own, and they see that the defense is using a shitty tactic.

Personally from watching this, I am doubting the witness more and more. This is good for the defence.

We can only hope they would see it as frustration and not as someone trying to cover up a lie.

What do you doubt? That she knows what wet grass is? or what jump off means?

As much as I enjoy watching them repeat the same questions over and over I think it's done she has served the purpose for both sides lets move on to the witness that came out side while they were fighting before the shooting. Something anything

On this point, what kind of time is he facing if he gets convicted of 2nd degree murder?

Assuming that I'm reading Florida's sentencing guidelines correctly, it looks like he could get a minimum of 241.5 months in jail, assuming he has no priors, up to a maximum sentence of life (as provided in FL Stat. 782.04(1)(b)(2)).

I've added in:

92 points for the offense level of second degree murder
240 points for the victim's injury
18 points for using a firearm
_____

350 points - 28 points = 322 x .75 = 241.5 months or ~ 20.125 years.

I might have missed some enhancers, but I do not think so.

Does it matter? Dumb people's testimony doesn't count? Dumb people should be ridiculed in court?

I don't believe I ever said she shouldn't be up there. Her testimony (if that's really what you want to call it) counts, even if she has lied on multiple occasions already. It's just embarrassing to watch.

It's hard to sound more or less confident when all you're saying is 'Yes Sir' and 'No Sir'.
When she says something like "I didn't remember what I said", and then she says "I didn't say that" it doesn't really give an aura of confidence.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Zimmerman himself jumped up and admitted to everything and requested solitary confinement to get out of this.

Haha, that would be priceless. Accusing his attorneys working with the prosecution.

Edit: Wait, they can add onto transcripts later? Is that because they have audio copies as well?

So they are bullshitting about this transcription though because the lawyer has a different transcript.

Yeah, I'm stumped by that exchange.

Sounds like the Defense and Prosecution have the same transcript, but the judge does not.
