FR permits the battery mod, and there have been one or two modders on hand to do them in recent years. For the sake of the conversation. FR is usually a pretty big Tekken event right? How come there was no uproar from the Tekken community over them banning DS3?
People press pause accidentally too. We should ban all controllers that have a pause button for EVO. It's a super dumb rule.
Skullgirls looks fantastic
So many long action scenes with explosions everywhere. That hasn't been interesting to me for a long time. The only good action scenes were Hulk's. Loki was a lame villain. Various plot holes...not that the film's target audience cares about plot.
This glitch doesn't change shit, especially the circumstances that permit it.Getting closer and closer to TACs being banned altogether.
I'm not even going to EVO so it doesn't affect me personally. But it does affect games that have large fanbases using DS3's.
and those fanbases (most of them) already adjusted. MK community adjusted in their FIRST year.
Marvel and Anime has adjusted as well.(though a good portion of them if not the majority are stick users).

and marvel players have to play on a system that isn't tournament standard for the game and can't even run the game perfectly, oh well

That's pretty much every game there. Except Smash, I guess.
Imagine if PSABR was put in last minute instead of Injustice.
Loki was definitely kinda boring. If they ever use Loki again it has to be tied more strongly to stuff in Asgard imo. But I enjoyed the action scenes outside of Hawkeye and Natasha duking it out. They are too normal for my taste. So many long action scenes with explosions everywhere. That hasn't been interesting to me for a long time. The only good action scenes were Hulk's. And it would be their fault for not bothering to read the rules...for the past few years.
I mean it's his choice to not go to Evo and to feel the way he feels on their decision on DS3s. Rather silly to keep harping on this
and I "feel" like asking why, so I will, thanks.
Most modders charge roughly $80 for a dual mod. $100 if you want legacy support (PS2 and other older non-USB consoles). Not sure how much you'd be looking at to do it yourself....Going somewhat off topic from the current conversation, does anyone know how much does it cost to mod your stick into a multi-console one? I really don't want to have to rely on my adapter tbh, so if I could do that before my EVO matches it'd be great.
A player hitting the pause accidentally is an easy issue to resolve; the player is obviously at fault here and it's up to his opponent to decide whether he should take the game or just let it rock. The match can continue irregardless of his decision, and the lesson can be learned that you should never hit the pause button accidentally.
When some random nobody interrupts a match between 2 players due to controller sync it becomes a much harder issue to resolve. That guy should be banned from tourneys forever for what he has done, but how are you even going to be able to hunt him down?
Benq monitors actually have a few frames less lag than the Asus monitors. They're just not the standard because they're costlier.

If you're going to EVO and want it done there, look up the modders who will be set-up there and get in touch with them now.
I mean, I'm not trying to harp on you or anything, but let's walk through this. Then they should just find a better solution instead of banning.
Maintain a certain amount of distance between the PS3 console being used and the seating/spectating area so the wireless signals do not reach even if someone from the outside ends up pressing the PS button. Put red tape around the area and make sure that only the two players playing the match are in that wireless range when the match begins and ends and others from the outside cannot interfere. Do something else. I don't know. There are a dozen different things that they can experiment with to resolve the issue. There are better solutions than banning an entire control scheme that many people rely on.
I mean, I'm not trying to harp on you or anything, but let's walk through this.
- First, what exactly is the range at which the wireless signal no longer works at all? I have no idea.
- Second, how are you going to manage this in pools, where everybody in the pool is going to be, and pretty much has to be, in very close proximity to the stations until they're eliminated from the tournament?

It's about ease/comfort/convenience. Certain games, like Tekken, are better played on pad for various people. Why would I switch to stick then? Why use a DS2 as my main control method every time I play FG's at home/locals just to adjust the dpad to my liking?
Ask around in SRK Tech Talk. I can vouch for Gummo and Duckie; they do good work. And if they're not going to be there, they or somebody else could probably point you in the direction of someone who will.Hmm, where could I look that up? Is it absolutely necessary to contact them before the event?

Blame Sony. They are the ones who designed the DS3 to work in such a way that it could ruin grand finals.
Fun fact: every generation of dual shock gets worse for fighting game purposes.
DS1 = so far the best pad Sony has made for FGs
DS2 = added pressure sensitive buttons because who wants responsiveness?
DS3 = only device I can think of that allows one person's forgetfulness to ruin a whole tournament.
It sucks that they have to ban them but they have no choice. Remember that year that Kor ruined Grand finals by turning on his controller in the same room? They tried everything to make sure that didn't happen up to and including having "DS3 parties" the night before the tournament where everyone got together and made sure their controllers were taken care of. It STILL happened. So, no choice: they are banned.
You aren't alone. Wolfkrone plays on a Dual Shock and has to deal with converters at every tournament he attends.
There really is no good solution other than banning DS3's.
That said, it's super-shitty for the Tekken comm, and I understand why they're raging/boycotting over this.
I don't think there's much overlap between the 2D and 3D comms, so I think separate events might work.
Why do you always take on unwinnable arguments when you are tired, Sayah?I must have skimmed over that fact. Yeah, that wasn't a very good proposed solution at all. I do need sleep.
Why do you always take on unwinnable arguments when you are tired, Satan?![]()
At the end of the day, there is still A LOT being sacrificed (including match integrity I would say imo) when players don't have access to what they play best with.
It just sucks for pad warriors in general. The DS3 is a logistical hazard, Microsoft couldn't make a d-pad to save their lives, and the stuff that Madcatz and PDP make seems to fall apart if you look at it funny.

And what about playing in a screen/monitor with input lag you're not used to and a console that has some form of lag you're not used to?
Only the PS2 variants. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't stock up when I had the chance. And that's why Saturn pads still go for $100.
The input lag is there for both players and affects both players all the same.
But what if your opponent is used to it(because he plays on that exact setup at home) and you're not?
Hellpockets is commentating marvel at TRB right now.

The chances of that happening are not very likely. And from what I know, there are many different manufacturer's/brands of monitors being used (not all of them are the same).
