The DS3s are fine aside from not having a wired iteration of it. If sony would make one, I'd be really happy as it's the pad I still prefer for FGs in general.

What? The monitor DB on SRK lists the VH236H as having 8.3ms input lag. Which is half a frame. Maybe the BenQ has a few ms less lag, if anything.

Sorry, yeah, I meant miliseconds.

About the DS3 issue. I can see the argument for banning it considering how many more people are at EVO compared to other tournaments, and I can also see the argument for not banning it. Sucky situation that I hope PS4 solves.

I just want Madcatz to make a ps style pad. 6 button pads suck too I don't play claw style

Wish granted:

They made those MLG pads. Haven't heard about the quality of them either way.

I used one at comic con and it was not so good. But it was probably used by countless grubby hands that weekend so I'll let it slide.

Blame Sony. They are the ones who designed the DS3 to work in such a way that it could ruin grand finals.

Fun fact: every generation of dual shock gets worse for fighting game purposes.

DS1 = so far the best pad Sony has made for FGs
DS2 = added pressure sensitive buttons because who wants responsiveness?
DS3 = only device I can think of that allows one person's forgetfulness to ruin a whole tournament.

It sucks that they have to ban them but they have no choice. Remember that year that Kor ruined Grand finals by turning on his controller in the same room? They tried everything to make sure that didn't happen up to and including having "DS3 parties" the night before the tournament where everyone got together and made sure their controllers were taken care of. It STILL happened. So, no choice: they are banned.

You aren't alone. Wolfkrone plays on a Dual Shock and has to deal with converters at every tournament he attends.

This is so funny because Kor is the one making a big deal about DS3s being banned but he's the one that messed it up, haha.

I own one of the 360 ones. I actually love the thing for shooters. I do use the PS style D-Pad with it, but I've noticed some weirdness with it. When I was playing Borderlands 2, which uses the pad to switch weapons, I would very often get Right when I wanted Down and vice versa. Now I have no idea if this was Borderlands' fault or the controller (probably the controller). The D-Pad module itself could have been damaged in some fashion or not all the way seated properly. I would have to go back and do some real testing to be sure. The controller would be more bulky than the DS3, so that might inherently make it worse.

wonder if madcatz is planning on making new pads as well.

If they are, they should copy the Hori FC3 as much as possible. Was the best pad since the Saturn pad, and now so rare.

I'm salty that I give mine away to a psycho ex-GF so she can play Ys.

Pretty much. The MCZ pads are ok for Capcom games as they're tuned for them and the floating D-pad works for them because of shortcuts or whatever but for other games it's a nightmare. It has issues with other games like Tekken, KOF, or VF.
Hey MarkMan I've got a new business proposition for you...

She can't be that insane if she likes Ys.

Hmm, where could I look that up? Is it absolutely necessary to contact them before the event?

Looking at the Madcatz store, the SFXTK and SCV sticks are at a similar price too. Maybe I should just buy one if possible? I mean, I plan to buy a PS3 when I get there anyways so it's not like it'd be an expense made for EVO only. Decisions...

I bought a stick and got it dual modded last year at evo. The SRK Tech Talk guys were using a corner of Mad Catz' booth so it was pretty convenient. I bought and dropped off the stick on Friday morning and they called me to pick it up before pools were done that day. $80 for the Xbox->PS3 dual mod but they had other options as well.

So I checked the Evo check in page today after having emailed Mr. Wizard back in like, April, about changing my registered gamertag from Smedwicks to GAF Smedwicks.

Lo and behold, it happened! And after that whole discussion on GAF vs NeoGAF for tournament usage too, lol.

Probably wont be the same guys but I got my SfxT stick modded today at CEO. Took the guy forever (mostly because he had one particular stick that gave him problems) but when I got home I tested it on my systems (PC, PS3 & 360) and everything worked fine. Officially reboxing the virtua stick and putting it in the closet.

I actually bought one a few weeks ago (thank you random seller in Scotland via Amazon!). I guess it's one of the later ones because the box was a bit different, the X/O/square/triangle buttons are all black and white, and the Playstation button actually just says "Ps" instead of the logo.

Works just fine however. I'm assuming it's allowed at EVO right? Dumb question I know but I just want to make sure..

Would be amazing if this pad actually worked on the PS4!

For people asking about dual mods, a friend of mine is going to be at EVO doing dual mods and more stuff. He did mine and about 50 others here. He also builds sticks, sells parts, etc. Here's his fb page https://www.facebook.com/RataMashera and his company logo:

EDIT: He just launched a full sanwa stick, perfect for people here in Peru that don't have friends visiting the US or that can't pay $250 for a MCZ stick(they're sold around here at that price after taxes and stuff):

Also on that eventhubs article about smash bros. not being a fighting game. Dude didn't even say that so idk where that title comes from.

Also they put one of my videos up one time. You know they're desperate when they scrape the bottom of the barrel like that

It's a wired pad with no wireless so it will be legal.
