Do people play games with 2.37 aspect ratio and black bars? I dislike the trend of screenshots like that since my personal opinion is that it seems more of an artistic screenshot thing than an actual gameplay screenshot. However, I may very likely be in the minority.

I only took the shots to see what the fuss was all about, since everybody seems to bloody do it.

I'll be going back to my 1920x1080 16:9.

I think you crushed that image in the wrong direction.

Just as a heads up, if that is the Final Mix + version, there's a 60fps, remove HUD, and widescreen mod available.

Go to "*PCSX2 ROOT*\Cheats" folder.

Create a text file called "F266B00B.pnach"

put this in that text file

Code:
gametitle=Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix + (NTSC-J) (SLPM 666 75)
comment=Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix + (NTSC-J)

// 16:9 hack
patch=1,EE,203A7BBC,word,3F19999A // 3F4CCCCC
patch=1,EE,2036A0B8,word,43C00CCD //
patch=1,EE,2037153C,word,3F19999A //
patch=1,EE,2036A0F0,word,3F19999A //
patch=1,EE,2036CE98,word,3F39999A // 3F800000

// Half game speed
patch=1,EE,20349E0C,word,3F000000 // 3F800000
patch=1,EE,203714f8,word,3F000000 // 3F800000

//Remove HUD
patch=1,EE,2036ACA4,word,00000000 //
patch=1,EE,2036CE98,word,00000000 //

To disable a cheat, just put "//" in front of it.

The half game speed makes everything move at 50% speed, so you go into the emulator settings and set it to run at 200% speed. The music runs twice as fast, but everything else looks normal, just 60fps.

Here's an example of normal framerate and the 60fps side by side.

Yes, and plenty of games are perfectly playable at that aspect ratio.

Yeah, gameplay is fine in that resolution. Not much different from a multi monitor setup.

Yes. Especially when you have this.

There are a lot of games I prefer at 2.37:1 over 16:9 now. But being able to specify FOV is a must.
Whoa crazy, that looks as wide as a dual-monitor setup. I still feel like something closer to the golden ratio is more pleasing on the eye, but I imagine people with dual monitors or 2.37 monitors also find the screenshots look better on them, whereas on my monitor they look squished. :P

Holy fucking shit at 2560x1080 monitor prices. 2560x1440 is cheaper.

I tend to prefer anamorphic format for the cinematic look and most importantly because the slightly lower resolution helps my poor 560Ti to take those screens :)

If only i had a better one to eliminate the Aliasing :(

Must be fantastic to have a monitor like that if a game doesn't support the resolution.

16:9 pillarboxing on titles that don't support 21:9. So instead of creating custom 21:9 resolutions on a 16:9 monitor, you'd create custom 16:9 resolutions.

In my experience, most games I play support 21:9. Windowed mode also gives you lots of flexibility.

It's an expensive monitor but if you're a diehard fan of that aspect ratio, it's amazing.

I think dat Dell is already in neoenigma's must buy list :P .I am also in the dilemma of buying a 21:6 or a 1440p but i'm worrying if the new monitor will "allow" 4K downsampling, i guess you will know when you buy it

On second thought I think 21:9 looks really fantastic. It's far more natural, especially in first person games, to have more visual information to the sides. It's not as extreme as a three monitor setup, but it's a nice balance inbetween. Lose no image, gain a little more on the edges for a more natural visual perspective.

Such a shame the monitors are fucking stupid expensive for simply 2560x1080. I cannot fathom how fewer pixels costs a fortune more than 2560x1440. I could buy another 670 and SLI for their going price and still have money to burn.

The market for 21:9 is smaller. That's probably why they're more expensive. Plus the manufacturer might be milking the novelty factor. I'd like a monitor like that, but I'd want it as one of a couple monitors. When I play in portrait or 5:4 AR's I don't want to be doing that on a 21:9 AR monitor of course. But damn. Nice.

Experimenting with anamorphic flare codes and new SSAO and shadow rendering for Fallout:

Supply and demand. The same reason why 1080p monitors suddenly got dirt cheap, because TVs, PC monitors and everything in between started using them. Also the same reason why 16:10 monitors tend to be quite expensive, because so few panels are made.

That's what I assumed as well. It's a pretty niche market so they probably aren't ordering from the manufacturer in bulk.

I just play games at 4K and then crop shots to anamorphic ratios in MS Paint if I think that aspect ratio is appropriate for the shot.

I screenshotted Crysis 2 at 3840x1620, though, because I desperately needed the extra 5 or so FPS from playing it with black bars.

My only beef with Abload seems to be that the speed with which images load is highly variable and often atrocious. Probably the same can be said for Flickr.

Most likely depends on your location, like every image site. As I'm located in Denmark and Abload is German, it's the fastest image host for me. Outside of that they have a decent interface and a very generous with the bandwidth use. Too many sites have limitations, won't allow direct linking, remove your images when you sneeze etc.

Got Fallout 1 quite a while ago and finally started playing it. I really like the atmosphere of the game.

Have you played it before? If not, run to the left of your vault. There's a nice surprise waiting for you there :)

Supply and demand makes sense. Thanks guys. I'll stick with 1920x1080 for now (until Oculus Rift comes along).

I wish I liked how Rome II looked, but ever since the first video I cant unsee the dreadful piss filter. There's a disgusting yellow/bronze tinge to ever fucking screenshot and I think it looks dreadful, like the entire colour palette has been muted. I hope it can be turned off.
