There's so much shit going on, I can't tell the difference when he's locking onto me.
I personally just kited it away or let the NPCs grab hate. Did this on Paladin ;d

How come only one class can start at Limsa Lominsa?![]()
As if the beta is down?! It was only up about a day![]()
It was up since Friday, weekends usually end around this time (evening for Japan).
I don't think you should count out MRD and WAR; everything in this game's almost on a totally different scale. It might not be able to do crazy power level shenanigans like 1.0 but it's still probably perfectly competent and it's roles. Phase 4 might give it some buffs, too.If you're talking about the GC join mission where you, the Magitek Armor has the amazing ability to know who the player is and purposely lock on to him. I just stayed near it, so when it locked on and got ready to fire it was easy to just run straight through it and get behind it. And yeah, I let the NPCs tank it, even as MRD I didn't feel any particular need to go toe-to-toe with it.rescue Biggs and Wedge
Some people were talking about MRD and WAR in FC chat. They were saying that these classes have received some pretty dramatic nerfs in ARR. This makes me sad, I was thinking of starting out as MRD in Phase 4 but now I'm not so sure. I was fooling around with LNC a bit and that seemed to be fun, but I don't know anything about what DRG does.
Holmgang could be useful to counter hate-reset moves, and that's about it.Like, I have no clue what the point of Holmgang is.
What class can use gunblades?
didn't think they would be in but I have seen 3 or 4 npc with them.
I thought it was 9am to 9pm Sunday![]()
Is the game going to be available on psn at launch?
They really need to add voice acting and more sounds around the world because it feels very strange in 2013 playing a game basically set on mute with only music once in a while in the background. Strange feelings.
Yup.
Voice acting for the main quests will be in at launch.
A crowd track comes in when there're a lot of players around.Maybe I didn't notice, but are there voices randomly around the cities? That too will help. Like people talking in the pubs and all.
Gunblades are a Garlean thing and aren't available to player characters currently. It seems very likely they'll form the core of an expansion class down the line, likely when we finally head up to Garlemald to start smackin' the Empire around for being douchelords for basically two games now.
I actually kind of dread this. Though I guess that's become standard despite the biggest MMO pointedly avoiding it.Voice acting for the main quests will be in at launch.
When will phase 4 start? next weekend? I logged in yesterday and liked the game a lot :/
oh ok thanks, I was worried if I would need to pick a different class in the final game.Gunblades are a Garlean thing and aren't available to player characters currently. It runs 6PM Friday to 6PM Sunday, Japan time. It goes down on the schedule of the devs so they can get to work on bugs found in the weekend's testing.

But then main quests is probably about the same as any other major RPG release, it's trying to voice the entire damn game and all quests that you get into crazy territory.

I really can't imagine either being a good option with the Lalafell versus complete silence. Which IS where my concern comes from actually, namely one of the soldiers in the Ul'dah questline. Otherwise I wouldn't care too much, at most muting it.Also you will be able to choose voice language and dub language independently (play with japanese dub and english text for example).

I'll be glad for voice acting so I finally know how to pronounce Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn.

MAREL-vib BLU-FISS-vin.I'll be glad for voice acting so I finally know how to pronounce Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn.
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't even deal with Ala Mhigo (and maybe Gaius) until next the expansion, let alone the empire itself.

Y: A long 'e' such as the 'ea' in 'eat' or the first 'e' in 'Steve'
Alyr (alder) would be pronounced 'ah-leer'
Blyss (blossom) would be pronounced like 'bleece' (rhymes with 'fleece')
The second dungeon was much better, but still, linear, and very easy. Doesn't feel like you are adventuring in some dark secret passage much.
Traps, secret passages, switches, etc. They really need to add them. The Shadow Lord Castle, The Aqueduct.. those were dungeons.
Do some of the pictures here look rough because of it being, there being no graphical adjustments, or people not forcing AA when taking screenshots?
I know this is going to be controversial to people in this thread because you mostly seem like huge FFXI fans but I really can't get into this game.
I love Final Fantasy and I really want to love this game (the animations, the environments and music is amazing), but the combat seems so dated and very static. The quests just seem overpowering in their repetitiveness and there doesn't seem to be much diversity to them. I guess it's risky to innovate of these kinds of things, MMOs are a giant moneysink after all.
I gotta ask, does it get better after 20-ish? Because it was a struggle to get there.
Probably the latter; FFXIV has its own AA solution but it is not very good.
