Ha-ha!Fairy Type?
Clearly this means we're not getting your standard Nintendo sequels out of this. (Sorry, Metroid.)
Free-to-play? Something that really uses the Gamepad in an innovative way?
We just don't know.
Ha-ha!Fairy Type?
Ravi Drums in Smash Bros. 4
Wii Chess U.
Metroid Prime Pinball 2, an earth shattering revolution of the pinball genre we've been waiting for.
You know they anounced an F2P steel diver game?
I'm guessing its the non-gamer games such as Wii U Party, Wii Fit U, F2P Steel Diver game, that mystery NFC title and whatever else they have brewing.
I meant more for intraforum console wars ("Just you wait!"), but I admit it sounded like I meant the war for sales.Non sequitur. Pleasing the hardcore market would never be their ace in the hole. They needs a new Wii Sports-level experience.
When it comes to Wii, as Wii Sports spread throughout the world at a sensational speed, some misunderstood that all Wii could do is enable them to play games by moving the Wii Remote. With Wii U, therefore, we planned to satisfy existing video game fans first and provide new surprises later.
That is some furious retconning, my god
I think there are some legitimate times to use this theory such as Wii/DS. However, I remember one time Miyamoto hilariously said that about FLUDD in Sunshine.Dat Iwata! Not taking the competition seriously!
I want this meme taken out back and shot once and for all. It's completely inane and inaccurate.
As far as the games are concerned I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to unveil. I wasn't surprised at what was shown at E3, but what did get shown was of very high quality. Looking forward to some surprise and quality as well this time around.
Then everyone will complain about gimmicks ruining their game and they dont understand why they had to force it on them and ruin their game see SMG, SS, MP3, MKWii, DKCR, TP, PH, ST, MPH, SFC, KI:U, etc. For the record some I agree with, some I don't.I wish traditional games could do that too.
Maybe some new way to combine the motion controls with the tablet?
i think the whole "not releasing media too early cuz we don't want our competitors copying us" applies mainly to hardware innovations.
maybe i'm wrong, but all of this 'fear' stemmed from the time nintendo unveiled the analog controller for n64; which sony copied and ultimately beat them to market with the release of the 'dualshock'.
but that doesn't apply to game software as much, imo.
i guess my point is, when it comes to advertising games, release media WAY in advance to grow mindshare (sorry just came from tW101 thread). rather than their current strategy of "lets start marketing the game one week before it comes out!"
Iwata (June 2012) said:"We do have ideas of what kind of software we will be releasing after those two periods, and Mr. Miyamoto as well as I are both directly involved in the development process. Those include both our traditional franchises and of course new propositions as well.
"However, because we are now in the era when similar proposals can be made by the others just one year after we introduced a brand-new hardware system proposal, please understand that we really can't say much about what else we are planning."
Wait...who didn't expect Smash, Mario and MK?I think people are misinterpreting the "New types of games" line. I'd mark it as an odd translation. I'm certain he just means they're going to announce new games that people don't necessarily expect (Like Smash, Mario and Kart were).
Like during the Wii U reveal trailer with Wii Sports and Wii Fit?Maybe some new way to combine the motion controls with the tablet?
.
Eh not really. The majority of 3rd parties just released gimmicky minigame collections. Granted their philosophy with Wii U was not like that at all until very recently. That is some furious retconning, my god
Wii U Yoga
NFC onslaught incoming.

The Nintendo Web Framework is a development environment based on WebKit technologies, supporting application development on the Wii U system using HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS. It also supports the Wii U GamePad controller, Wii Remote controllers, and JavaScript extensions such as video playback. With the Nintendo Web Framework, development times will be reduced and Wii U applications can be easily developed using common Web technologies. Combining the handy Wii U GamePad, the TV screen, and the Internet, the potential exists for the services and games you are developing to progress by leaps and bounds.
Reborn as something else maybe.Vitality Sensor lives?
I hope it's a Nintendo dating sim.

It's going to be a whole raft of cheap tablet games.
It's going to be based on this:-
Cheap and quick to develop for tablet games.
I hope it's a Nintendo dating sim.
Who are the people who didn't expect a new Smash/3D Mario/Kart for Wii-U

They have been saying this for a while now. No reason to get excited. It's pretty logical to think that if they had something truly revolutionizing cooking up then we wouldn't hear about it until relatively close to the release.
I imagine it's their f2p title.
And perhaps some eShop stuff.. they haven't exactly done anything themselves, have they?
No they haven't. Provide links that they did or drop this fantasy.
It seems something that will appeal to the mass casual gamer market, so I'm not getting my hopes up one iota.
