Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Doesn't look boring. There's lots of upgrades, level up mechanics, and at least a little skill/depth required to be good at the combat. I've heard it plays like the Dishwasher games. Those are fantastic, so, to each their own. :P

My only problem was with some of the new translation.

the combat isn't as deep as something like guacamelee but it is very satisfying. i just think the boring level design really hurts the game.

Okay. I just had to delete a fighting game for another fighting game. That was officially my breaking point. I can't do this anymore. 32GB is too fucking small.

basedmortimer's tip put me at ease...at least Sony is aware of the problem.

But I'm personally holding out for 128GB. Need space for dat digital PSP library too <3

Which tip, we got new card news? I need the biggest card they will sell me honestly since I buy nothing af retail.

My Vita gaming time has been reduced because I have been playing 999 on my niece's DS. And that would ne the original DS, let me tell you this is quite the hardware downgrade but I am really liking the game and reached two endings already.

Also I am eyeing that $5 Mortal Kombat on the store, I played a little bit of the PS3 and liked it but I dont know if I will play it much... but at that price... what to do VitaGAF!?

64gb will be announced shortly, I think, was the "tip".

Buy the damn game!

Ive been buying my games strictly retail when I can.

Starter_Kit_-_Ps_Vita.jpg

I bought this Starter Kit a while ago. It comes with a 8 game card holder (also holds 2 memory cards) and it fits snugly behind the Vita while inside the pouch. No bulk whatsoever, Just a nice bundle

Retail saves so much card space, Its not even funny. You know whats killing my cards? PS Plus... ay yi yi, its a ponzi scheme I swear.

I even have to upgrade my PS3 hardware!!

Yes Im working with 2 4GB cards... and Im doing alright actually...

Card 1: GoW: Ghost of Sparta
Frobisher Says
Power Stone Collection
Jetpack Joyride

Card 2: NG Sigma+
Gucamelee
Hotline Miami

Man. I buy retail when I can too, as you can see here:

However, I STILL have to clean out the fridge all the time with my two 16GB, one 4GB, and one 8GB cards. There's at LEAST 15 games that I've bought but just don't have enough space to have them on my cards.

I wanted one of those pouches by itself, but could never find one. Japan sold them by themselves, but not here, and amazon's price for the import was more than the package.

I use that Waterfield suede sleeve for skinny-pocket travel:

All retail is still the best bet, but even that hits a brick wall with the BS 100 app limit. Pisses me off.

Is there any chance of the digital version of Tactics Ogre going on sale reasonably soon? I did a playthough and a bit on the UMD version but want to play it on my Vita now.

Also I am eyeing that $5 Mortal Kombat on the store, I played a little bit of the PS3 and liked it but I dont know if I will play it much... but at that price... what to do VitaGAF!?

It's a steal at 5 bucks. Not only is it a pretty decent fighter, the single player story mode is really good. If you only play through that once and nothing else I think that's worth $5. The character models outside of the cut scenes are sub-standard though, especially compared to other Vita fighting games.

Sweet.. Been eyeing the Waterfield cases. Might get one myself.

When Blazblue came to PS+, I sold my card and have become fully digital. The convenience is worth it.

I have both a digital and retail copy of Little Big Planet Vita, since I waited too long to pre-order it, and when it broke street date I was no longer able to get the pre-order bonuses through Amazon. So I ordered the physical copy, and bought the digital copy to get the bonus DLC available for all first week purchases on PSN.

I'd like to use the digital version for convenience... I have the space, but I'll opt to keep the space and the app slot... the physica game card also loads faster and performs better, as a creator. Might have been patched by now and might not be enough to bother a casual player, but it was intolerable to wait for the pop-it objects bag to finish loading after capturing important iterations in the building process, when I was making this Emotionally Unstable:

I love it. I kinda wish I'd gotten the one that comes with a mesh pocket so I could throw in the gigantic microfiber cloth I bought, but it can actually double as a cleaning cloth, even though it's a bit rough and not that effective.

If I hadn't gotten a First Edition Bundle case off ebay for $30, I might have bought Waterfield's carrying case instead. I still kinda want to, but can't justify it lol

Not sure if posted yet.

Anyone know what the latest patch for Men's Room Mayhem fixed/added?
I'm getting fed up trying to get this "12 hands washed bonuses in a single round" challenge. :(

Try to play 999. I'm trying to get a used copy from wherever to play it first before digging into VLR.

And also, AVOID the iOS version. Almost all gameplay has been cut from it.

http://www.destructoid.com/999-on-ios-lacks-any-actual-gameplay-254765.phtml

You're crazy, that sounds like an upgrade. The only reason I'm even considering 999 in the first place is because everyone insists that you just have to play it before VLR. I just want the story in the most fast and efficient manner possible! Can't wait for the iOS version.

If you want that, use a guide since the true ending requires a minimum of 2 playthroughs with specific choices. Not seeing the true end will be only playing half the game and make the 999 before VLR thing pointless btw.

*sigh* what? I can't just play it "naturally" and get the right ending?

Yeah its my favorite case for sure. Its snug and you can put it in your pocket easily for flights etc. everything else is too large and ends up being used when I need to throw it in a bag.

If they bothered to detail it, you can hold your finger down to bring up the move/delete mode, and select Update History on a bubble. Looks like this was all they listed:

Oh, cool. I didn't know that.

And yes, I was just about to post that's what it did. Trying to clean up the last trophy I'm missing now...
And that update really helps. ^_^

Exactly. Slides right into my inside pocket, and even fits in pants. Vita's portable to a degree. Not exactly Nomad/Lynx/Game Gear/Turbo Express... but definitely not GBA Micro or PSP Go.

It's also cool that the Vita + sleeve can fit nicely into the FEB case, so I can keep it altogether if I do throw it in a bag.

Your pic sells me on the mesh pocket better than the one's on their website did. Hmm... might rebuy one.

Here's the cloth I got last year, btw: http://www.amazon.com/Antec-XL-Microfiber-Cleaning-Cloth/dp/B00584WZKG

It's like 12"x12" or something. I vouch for that thing.

yeah it makes the whole thing sound like a chore. makes me wish we didn't get a game with such a heavy ties to something that never hit ps devices.
I plan to watch a 999 Let's Play on YT or something before starting VLR.

Got it from PS+ and I'm too impatient to wait until the iOS one comes out this fall. Might be more convenient than replaying over and over too.

I can't stop playing Toukiden.
I think for games belonging this type of genre having couple of NPCs to develop stories really helps. In that sense Toukiden is closer to God Eater, rather than Monster Hunter.

Upon localization KT better get good localization personnel.

I came so close to doing this exact thing today, but the first video I loaded up was a player skipping through the dialog super quick. I also wasn't sure which parts of the LP to watch. I need to find a full true ending run. I'll look into it some more this weekend.

Really had no idea what vlr was going to be like.... I love it though. Some puzzles' answers seem a bit far fetched but the dialog is great. Really enjoy the adult "humor" and themes... Wasnt expecting the amount of sexual or bad language. Its a bit wierd and the novel parts can be a bit on the long side, and im not a fan of not knowing how to get the best ending(without using a guide) but so far im liking the game. Will see it through till atleast 1 ending....

Played velocity ultra demo for a few mintutes too to see what the hypes about finally... I can see how its an addicting game - dont think ill buy it, yet atleast. Whats exp used for??

Skipped on farming sim demo for now.

Unsure if i should bite on mk vita. im just not huge into fighters... Want to get sh:bom next week too, and shadow of collosus.

Anyways hope all the. USians had a good holiday and was able to enjoy some beach, beer, and bbq.

P.s. im starting to become addicted to near - just wish it had more/better features....

Yup, I'll always put game-play over narrative, but damn does a good narrative really get you motivated to actually finish a game, in Monster Hunter I just put it down one day and had no motivation to go back, but I'm still playing Gods Eater.

Please let us know if you find something good. I was looking for a good 999 video too but the one I found was around 2 hours (and just the first of a multi-part video). Starting to wonder whether the time would be better spent actually playing the game on my DS (or an emulator).

So I bought New Little King's Story when it was released but never played until now. I didn't play the Wii version so this game and it's style is totally new to me and I'm loving it. Kind of reminds me a bit of Pikmin but so far I've put more hours into it than I ever did Pikmin. Only bad thing about the game is the slowdown, I've only got 12 followers right now and it's chugging pretty bad in the city area, wonder if it's going to crash when I get into the 20s, lol.

Also wanted to thank SAB CA for responding to my earlier post.

That's a shame about the fps, I heard it was improved considerably with a firmware update for the Vita funnily enough. Guess it wasn't perfect?

You're not some casual on old firmware are you?

The material for the waterfield slip case is great. Very protective for its size and non-scratchy. Can take off those analogue grip covers I have when taking it out. Might just need to remove it more carefully.

The case is great too but doesn't help if you like to carry a grip. Otherwise pretty perfect other than it resembling a purse a tiny bit.

Vita is fit snuggly into a great feeling and thick material inside. Leather thing on the outside is what protects it mostly, it's quite thick. Holds 5 game cartridges in slots but you can fit a case and more in the back zipper, which also quite nicely holds 3 memory cards. But the zipper part isn't protected all that well - though the memory card holders are well padded, I put my extra in there.

You can fit two vitas in it with the main and back but it will probably stretch out your case.

I'd put a charging cable in the zipper backpocket but I worry it'll pierce the material as it's quite thin.

Pretty pricey too, especially if you have to import.

That was wishful thinking, nothing more.

Oh well, I have too much recently anyway. Recently grabbed Moto GP, COD, VT4 and Sly Cooper 4 and I'm always playing PSASBR and Wipeout. I recommend all of them to be honest, especially if you can get them under full-price.

[Edit: MotoGP got for effectively £17 with an online trade and I'm having a lot of fun with as my first GP, I actually recommend it to racing fans in general, COD came with the Vita bundle but the screen is yellow and I'm thinking of returning it but I assume it means I still get to keep the game, which is still CoD and quite nice to have - had a lot of fun with it already and only had it a short while. VT4 is £5 on amazon UK and is a great tennis game, great graphics and ridiculously short load times from when I played it. Sly Cooper 4 was £20 from the online store for the PS3 version and came with crossbuy (the Vita version doesn't and is the same price... :S guess they're relying on people being unaware of the difference to estimate Vita sales? Otherwise why...I assume it's the same in other regions). I doubt I'll be playing it on the PS3 for a while and other than the loading times which are somewhat forgiven for the big awesome worlds - I'm really having fun with this too].

I was going to pick up the Army of Corps of Hell pikmin game but it's like £35? I swear it had a much lower price after a while (but before this!), on the UK EU store? Maybe I'm wrong. Not the biggest problem. Other than NLKS and if the complete bundle for pure chess ever shows up at a decent price - the last title I wanted to buy was Persona 4 but I still don't feel like playing such a long, story heavy game. Not yet, maybe later since it's popular.

Leaves me ready for upcoming games. Really hope Luftrausers especially gets here soon if not only because it should be a small game and my memory cards are taking a beating - got a decent backlog and don't want to delete everything for new stuff all the time!

64GB would be nice if it was reasonably priced (for Sony cards - ie they drop prices and it takes the 32's price). But it still won't fit everything including PSP and PS1 games nor games from upcoming years. 128 will be needed...I don't want to sink in ridiculous amounts but I know I'm gonna give in for a 64. Almost gave in and bout another 32. Titles sitting in limbo just feel wrong.

Just ordered History: Legends of War, again. I've tried from Ozgameshop and Zavvi in the past, both of which ended up cancelling the orders because they lied about having the game in stock.

MAYBE THIS TIME! Third time's the charm, right? I think at this point I just want the game because it's so damn obscure.

So, guys, since we are talking about practicalities concerning Vita ownership, I have a question: do you guys ever, like, clean the exterior of your Vitas? I don't mean the screen, I've been going non-nude since I got my Vita, but I haven't been as careful/smart about the rest of it, so it's gotten a bit smudgey/greasy/fingerprinty, and just wiping it with a cloth doesn't really seem to help a lot. So does anyone know of any kind of safe and reliable way of cleaning it properly and permanently?

I use two small microfiber cloths. Wet one then wring it out so that it's merely damp.
Rub it all over the vita then buff off with the dry cloth.

Works really well.
