Got my IMAX 3D tickets. The IMAX screen in my city is HUGE. Cannot fucking wait for this movie. The only other movie I've seen on that big of a screen was Transformers 2 and that was an awesome experience.

Trend that shit

A teaser trailer for the game is out and yeah, it looks muddy as heck (dat lightning effect on Cherno Alpha's fists). I might still buy it just to support the franchise though.

Also, does anyone know where I can buy some Pacific Rim clothing? I swear I can remember browsing an online store in the past, but I can't for the life of me find it anymore.

The models for the Jaegers look nice.

It is going to suck, though; Yuke's will see to that.

I don't know why, but I'm all of a sudden hyped for this movie.

The same thing happened to me with Prometheus, but dear God, I hope it's better than space vagina.
Prometheus was so bad. It kinda hurt me to watch it. It's like Ridley Scott forgot what made of the cast of Alien work and tried to make a bunch of scientists into the cast of Alien. It would have worked so much better if he had just watched John Carpenter's The Thing.

And I still liked the movie. Can't explain why.

Looks like the sequels is already out.

Atlantic Rim trailer

lol
I shouldn't be surprised that the robot on that poster looks like a Transformer.

That's probably because they got the original versions from ILM themselves. They still managed to down-res them to terrible levels tho.

Indeed. I'm not even going to bother honestly. It'll be as crappy as the Iron Man games.

They should have gotten the Kaiju Combat guys to do this game (ex Godzilla DAMM folks)

Movie looks like a lot of fun and it's one of the few actions movies that actually has color opposed to the boring blue and grey tint/filter you see so much of today. My only issue is some of the effects look a bit like cutscenes from video games as opposed to the "higher end" budget Hollywood movies. The GIF below is one example.

I am thinking of buying two tickets for the 10:00pm imax 3d showing Thursday night at a participating theater that gives the poster away. I wonder if they will give it for early showings such as that one.

Trailer footage isn't necessarily final CG.

And bullshit, you wish video game cutscenes looked like that. You know how long they spent on upgrading the water simulation pipeline alone? ;P

This is what I'm worried about. I bought my ticket for a similar showing.
That print is so damn gorgeous, I neeeed it.

...what videogames have you been playing lately?

I knew I was gonna to anger some people with that comment.

For the record, the movie mostly looks great. But that GIF is one example of a scene to me that looks on par with a cutscene in Halo 4. Specifically, the helicopters dropping the mechs in the water and that whole scene seeing them from the front. Also the part where you see the mech in the background dropping into the water when seeing them from the side. Once the scene shifts to when they're fully submerged underwater, it looks good.

It's just a nitpick. Movie still looks awesome all around.

The 3D was great particle effects and rain drops hitting the screen.
I thought Man of Steel destruction was crazy. Pacific Rim raise that bar.

Now I want Russian jaeger toy and pilot armors

I read Tales From Year Zero just now, and while I liked the story overall, the inconsistent artwork really bothered me.

I have a conundrum. I could go see this movie at a regular -- albeit quality -- theater opening weekend, or I could wait until the following weekend to see it in glorious IMAX. Do I wait a week, ro do I bite the bullet and just see it here?

You have bad eyesight or something. What you are saying does not match the gif you posted in the slightest.
