Silva didnt throw the fight. What we saw tonight was a classic case of feeling yourself. Canderson bought into his own hype.

People pay good money to watch these fights live and on PPV and Canderson shows up and plays around like its a sparring session. Fuck him. Legacy destroyed. He will be remembered for getting KO'd while playing around. This is his new signature UFC highlight.

Also please can we stop thinking this chump can beat Bones. Johnny would destroy him.

The UFC is as much centered on being entertaining as it is being a sport, people pay to watch Silva and his antics so why not put on a good show...If the UFC was made up of only GSP like figures it would drop off quicker than Slam Ball.

lolololo at rigged/threw the fight

Silva trolling like he trolls, didn't respect the power

NOW HE DOES

What's that Weidman? Your house is all screwed up from Sandy?

Don't worry dude that punch just bought you A NEW HOUSE

Bounced his head LIKE A DAMN BASKETBALL

Why are people saying Anderson would have walked through that fight if he tried? Did anyone notice Weidman's head movement and how he was slipping Anderson's pitches?

Agreed, there's really 3 possibilities:

1) It was part of some strategy to suck Weidman into a standup fight, which didn't work (as you said, Weidman was slipping Anderson's punches/kicks and hitting him some when he was clowning, got an easy TD and did damage, nearly got a sub)
2) Silva just totally was disrespecting him and clowning, which proves he isn't the GOAT (the GOAT wouldn't disrepect his opponent like that).
3) It was a work (which throws Silva's whole reign into question if that's the case).

What the hell does that have to do with anything, did you watch the fight?
He took Weidman's ground game without a scratch, and was able to punch and kick him at will on his feet.
38 means nothing in this situation.
It was not even a game plan.

He got caught. Anyone can get caught in the right place and get put to sleep. It happens. If Silva wanted to throw the fight he could have easily just let WEidman ride him for 5 rounds like Sonnen.

And on top of that, it makes NO sense for the UFC to want Silva to throw the fight. He's one of their biggest stars and they were banking on Silva/GSP or Silva/Bones super fights, which now look a little less appealing. Not to mention Weidman has the personality and charisma of a cardboard box.

Damn, what a fight... Wonder what Anderson had in mind with his tactics tonight.

The same bullshit he always has on his mind. CANderson is a disrespectful fighter. Always has been.

Natch, I know you're reading this playboy. Your bitter tears are my bidet.

His head was turned too far to the left in the first place that when that haymaker landed, it rocked him legit. He fucked around, and finally, got caught in his bullshit.

No tinfoil hat garbage.

Yeah on the slower replay it looked like Anderson's head was just sticking straight out and he isn't able to dodge the punch that lands perfectly and drops him. Weidman clocked him right on the chin

Cmon guys, it wasnt fixed.

You really think if Dana wanted to fix the fight he would want his BEST UFC fighter (potentially ever) going down like that? playing around and getting caught?

He's gonna be PISSED at the post fight conference.

But now The Wildman is a superstar. And he's young. And American. And fights for cheap.

People pay to watch the enteraining way he can FIGHT, now showboat around and dance and trash talk. His bullshit antics tonight are what people hated him for in the Maia fight. Not the same thing as the highlight KOs he's known for.

Oh I am not saying he threw the fight, those people are daft.
I am just saying he was being asinine.
But people acting like Silva did not show that Weidman had nothing for him until he went into super stupor are even more asinine.

A $42,000 house.

Guys, AS trolls around all the time. I've never seen him do a fake stanky leg before like he did before he got legit clipped. Playing with fire will get you burned eventually.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
Silva didn't hint he threw the fight, but he hinted his heart wasn't really in it.

Reminds me a lot of Roy Jones at the late stages... just didn't have the reflexes to keep doing what they did before.

I'm going to have to see every angle of that Hook to ever claim that Andy threw the fight. True he's been hit harder with much harder punches but a punch only has to connect a certain way to K.O. someone. Plus the movement of the head into the punch is another factor. From that gif it does look a tad forced but I won't put my reputation on saying it was a fix.

Seriously, Silva fucks around with the lowered hands in head weave in like every fight, finally gets caught doing so, and the first thing some of you people say is "IT WAS FIXED"?

Unbelievable.

Last shot on ground looked brutal to me. Also the way Silva fought off the sub attempt in the first round tells me its not a fix. Dude just tried to get into wiedman's head and failed.

:lol What the fuck was that?

Anderson does that sort of thing fairly frequently. It's just that he usually had the reflexes to actually dodge those shots, combined with the other fighter being relatively slower and/or a weak puncher. Weidman has the reach and the power to punish that sort of thing, as we saw tonight.

Glad he finally got punished for his clowning. His speech about Weidman being the best felt sarcastic.

Very weird overall, what's wrong with that guy's brain?

Guys lets be honest when you work with a warrior like MATT SERRA some of that gold standard is gonna brush off on you - that camp beats everyones favorite heroes.

Why is everybody saying it's fixed?

Because a guy who likes to fight with his hands down and parry punches can't get hit with a punch that hurt him? What?

This guy has been doing shit like that for a long time and he fell in love with parrying other people's punches. Tonight he fought someone who actually managed to hit him, that's all.

In many ways it's similar to how Chuck Liddell finally lost. He got that one highlight reel KO over Tito and started to fall in love with his hands. The UFC had him fight a bunch of guys who had very little chance of knocking him out*, and Chuck built his style on taking punches to the face so he could hit other people back. When he actually faced someone who could throw a textbook counter-hook in Rampage, he took it to the chin and went down in a heap. Same thing against Rashad, Shogun, etc.

* Obviously Anderson fought some dangerous stand up fighters like Vitor so the comparison isn't perfect.

Just to be a completist in expressing my opinion that circumstances robbed Weidman of the credit he's due, the stop was too fast. No-chin couture used to get more time to recover than Anderson. The guy who KOs Anderson should get a highlight him standing over a out completely unconscious Silva for his trouble. Same thing I say about Hendo KOing Fedor...

Its hardly the first time Anderson has been caught slipping punches..

Fucking Sonnen tagged him too.

Anderson fucking lost it legitimately and deservedly.

What remains to be seen is if he was genuinely sick of it and will step away from the UFC, or if he will after all accept the rematch after management talks to him in the locker room.

Either way, he learned a proper lesson today. I'm really disappointed in the guy, for someone that likes to bow to his opponents every fight that was proper clown job.

Imbecile.
