lol Edgar shaking his head when the reporter mentioned people saying he should drop to 135

And they totally didn't let Weidman answer the question lol

Lots of people forget that fucking Timmeh was dominate in the UFC during Fedor's run. UFC had a horrible HW division at the time.

Yeah, the HW division in the UFC was garbage during Fedor's run. Timmeh and Arlovski fought each other what felt like 15 times during that era because there were no other HW's in the UFC worth watching.

Link to source that states placing bets outside of Nevada for a fight you threw = life in prison?

Legitimately curious.

Sports bribery in Nevada = 5 years
Racketeering in Nevada = 20 years

That's if the State takes the case. If he made the bets out-of-state, that would open up more serious federal charges, like federal racketeering, and wire fraud (if he used a telephone or the internet at any time during the conspiracy.) Wire fraud alone can net you 20 years.

For a fighter, that's a lifetime.

The NSAC also has the capacity to enforce a ban on the fighter. Such bans are for a minimum of three years up to a lifetime ban from the sport. They would also seize his purse for the fight.

Think about the billions of dollars generated by sporting events and sports books in Nevada. A significant portion of the whole economy of the State of Nevada is at risk if the betting public and the "superbooks" don't believe in the legitimacy of the regulatory process.

...and anyone going to prison for such a thing may find himself in real mortal danger of retribution by less-reputable people who run illegal books as well. It doesn't take a whole lot to get some lifer to agree to shank a guy in prison for a mob payoff.

To think that a multi-millionaire fighter like Anderson Silva, with such high-profile corp. sponsors, would engage in such a thing, with such serious repercussions, and do it in such a way that diminishes his legacy, is silly.

There was one point where a guy, Eilers, got a shot at Arlovski after a loss. It was super shallow back then.

Most people love to talk shit about Pride and Fedor needlessly, Pride had some shady dealings sometimes(that's what happens when the Yakuza is involved) but the vast majority of the time it was completely legit. Fedor is still by far the greatest HW of all time and one of the greatest of all time period.

Anderson lost twice in Pride, Chuck came over to Pride and got destroyed by Rampage, Rampage came over and destroyed Chuck yet again in the UFC, Shogun dominated the UFC's Machida twice, Big Nog submitted Silvia, etc. List goes on.

Fair enough. Tonight just seemed weird to me. The more I think about it the more I think my sentiments actually resonate with the earlier comment where someone said "maybe he threw it by not taking the fight seriously."

I know Silva typically does a certain degree of trolling during a fight but tonight he seemed exceptionally lazy. Add his post-fight speech about how he isn't interested in a rematch and that he has been looking forward to retirement, and his shitty pay, just seemed plausible that something fishy happened tonight. Like others said, maybe he was just giving Dana White the middle finger.

But like I said before, what the hell do I know.

Silva now talking about "taking 3-4 months off" and then deciding what to do instead of ignoring a rematch completely.

"I really feel like this guy who's dedicated his life to a sport took a brutal punch just to troll it."

Makes sense.

Dana wants that rematch moreso than Silva lol

god these fucking stupid questions. It doesn't do anything to his legacy! one loss doesn't take away what you did in the past

Uncle Dana just called you guys creeps and weirdos.

If you have to ask yourself if he's talking about you, then yes, he is talking about you. :)
