Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

your name/handle changes every week...

edit: sorry to have made the first page post such a useless one, guys. :( If it's any consolation, I use the "nice n' clean" brand of electronic wipes to clean my vita. Removes smudges and dust perfectly everytime.

So I bought MK on the Vita because of the deal. Was hesitant after hearing about all the ugly character models but they aren't -that- bad in motion. Yeah it's no UMvC3 or BB but it's decent.

The comments directed at Shahid are completely inappropriate. These losers need to go back to the rock they've been living under. I can understand being upset at the lack of "BIG" game announcements, but the guy is working day and night to get more games to Vita.

yeah but I don't which one is worse

You know, maybe you should like wait for the announcements. Judge after Gamescom and/or TGS.

Good he needs to call out peoples ignorant bullshit.

How do you know that Shahids JRPG pole did not help these games get localized? I asked him for Demon Gaze a few times, as did a few others. People asked for SE games, and just recently they announced support for PSMobile, which is a start.

Not to mention again but Ubisoft just announced Rayman for the vita, and is rumored to be getting Rainbow Six. The biggest pub in Europe is supporting the Vita at this point, and his team which deals with both indies AND third parties are based in Europe.

There is no reason not to support Shahid , reguardless of the idea that he happens to like indie games, and you dont. You have a problem no EA, 2K, or Activision you take it to @AMBoyes, @Shanewatch. First party support take that to @Yosp(Yoshida). I have no clue who in Japan could be contacted.

This.

And to be honest without him and others doing the indie stuff, the Vita would probably be in a worst situation then it already is. And above its weird that SCEJ doesn't have someone you could contact.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll get one and see how it goes!

I'll try this too!

@Esoteric, my older son enjoys SF X Tekken a lot. I'm probably gonna get Marvel if it goes on sale again; can I count on you and Shinriji to play against when I do? I'll likely just be apunching bag for you, though xD.

sure thing. just send me a PM.

Yeah after watching some videos for this Dangan Ronpa game... I just dont think its for me. Opinions and all that but it looks kind of boring, which im kind of sad about since I did really like VLR. Atleast Demon Gaze was announced aswell so not a total wash in todays announcements.

Glad it was announced for those that are excited for it.

Totally agree. I have a lot of games thanks to him.

I hope they're not planning on charging full-price for half the release! $20 digital would also be sad..

Happy to see Demon Gaze and Sei Madou finally, though :) Last two games I've been wanting.

Welp, I hope you're happy Vita.

Dangan Ronpa and Demon Gaze have converted me. Buying next week.

Now just give me Senran Kagura and I'll be yours forever.

I dont know there are still plenty of games I would like brought over, Mind 0 looks cool, Legend of heroes (lol yeah right), Dragons Dogma (lol capcom) I am really curious about a 2D DD though, PSO2, the Gundam games, and God Eater 2 I really want. My interest in allot of what is coming from Japan has droped hard from previous generations, kind of makes me sad.

Those are 2014 games. Buy it when the price drops (this fall I bet) or during the inevitable crazy Black Friday discount.

I was speaking of released games specifically. Can't get my hopes up on games until months after their JP release!

People were threatening his kids during the E3 meltdown, and calling him a terrorist, and he still takes time to address as many people as he can wether happy with the Vita, or not. Guys got some nerves of steel imo.

Needless to say E3 and SCEAs handeling of the Vita have nothing to do with him considering he works for SCEE

shesh what's the matter with some people

I may be the only one who cares about this, but Shahid seems to believe that there is a possibility we could see a revival of Alundra. I dont know how many here have played it, but Im a huge fan of the original, so I would love to see it make a return. I just have no clue who would develop it, I always thought it could have been a great Zelda like series for Sony, but they abandoned it after the sequel.

I loved the dream walker theme of the first game.

I dont know, but im beginning to understand why more people dont bother trying to interact with the game community.

Maybe Shahid can get us the Crash and Spyro PS1 Classics for NA.

I would totally join his fan club if so.

I doubt he would be able to do it by himself because hes not SCEA. Im sure he would know where to send your requests to though, so it could not hurt to send him a tweet and ask him. I wonder how much it has to do with Activison though to be honest. Its the only reason I can see them not being on the store.

In an effort to clear my backlog, I took a break from Hexyz Force to return to another psp game I never finished. Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble.

Not sure why I didn't finish it before since the game is pretty short once you figure out the flow of how to progress. Beat up dudes, grab itineraries of gang boss, beat up gang boss. Rinse, repeat. I wish the battle system was faster because it's quite on the slow side, but nothing I couldn't get used to.

Having customizable movesets from combos to grabs and specials are a nice touch and needing to beat up gang bosses, or banchos as they called, to gain access to the super moves provides good incentive to track each one down instead of just going for their big leader.

First time through playing the game can be quite scramble because everything is under a timer as you try to cram as much stuff into single day as rival gangs rotate out for new ones each new day. This is on top of story events that could seem to branch into 3 possible stories as you can pursue 3 different girls. Or you can ignore it all together, ditch you class field trips and just hunt down banchos.

All this is done in an effort to gain enough respect and conquer enough areas that at the end of your day 7 vacation you catch the eye of the final Bancho, who will probably annihilate you the first go around.

But fear not, because all of your progress carries over to new game+ so that you can plan your moves much more efficiently and take out banchos in the least time-consuming manner, so that it may then be possible to see all the story events and beat enough banchos in a single playthrough.

Only took me 2 PTs to beat the last boss, but I had to use a pipe to do it which is actually considered very un-manly and decreases your badass meter. Anyway a single PT only takes a couple hours and there is quite a number of things to do despite it's simple premise and structure. RPG-stats to level up, lots of clothes to buy, moves to collect, (slightly) different storylines,

Fun beat'em up game and wished we had more that came to stateside.

Now it's off to finish this damn Hexyz Force tomorrow.

I'm interested in the answer to this. Didn't lose a response thereafter, did I?

I don't think you did - though I think my heart is set on EO4 since it's out in a month or so over here.

Interesting - bare in mind Verendus was teasing 2 JRPG announcements from Sony at some stage, I guess, over the next 2 years. One is supposed to be targeting the "hardcore" while the other is a Final Fantasy like game. Alundra could well fit the first.

They are not even on PS3 store? I thought they were.... and just weren't PS Vita compatible...

Is the whole lolipantieswhatchamacallit thing prevalent in Demons Gaze? Just quickly looked through the Google image search and immediately lost all interest.

Imagine if people were so shallow that they wouldn't play a game just because it /didn't/ have loli panties.

There are other ways to engage Sony than through Shahid, y'know. With regards to the US Vita PSN store, the US store team answer questions in the comments of the Store Update posts every Tuesday on the US PS blog.

From what I understand, while it does have an over all cutesy/moe artstyle, the sexy stuff is a relatively small part of the game. Just got a lot of focus from people who wanted to discredit the game and the Vita.

Well, having played neither, it's my understanding that Demon Gaze had a pretty good story, while in EO the plot is barely there. DG obviously also has much higher detail art, but uses 2D sprites in stead of animated 3D models as EO. And DG has some well received convenience features, such as the ability to turn on "auto-pilot" and direct your party with the map when backtracking.

Doesn't Demon Gaze allow you to capture monsters as allies? Maybe similar to SMT:IV if anything (haven't played either).

Does anyone else find the shuffling of games icons around after deleting games as frustrating as me. I would like an auto arrange option here. With more goodness on PS+ I find I need to delete the earlier dross that I played once to make space on my 32G card.

It's annoying, but I can live it.

What I would like is an option to save the "current arrangement" of all icons (including default system icons) to the inserted memory card. Would be handy when I have to switch PSN accounts.

I'd like more customisation options in general. Floaty balloons > square icons, alphabetical/custom/most used ordering options, several pages in a folder, wallpaper still show when opening a folder etc etc.
I can live with what we have though, would just like to have some more.

This too!

Quick question that I thought of while reading the "why don't you own a vita?" thread...

I didn't want to ask it in there because there's too much negativity towards the platform.

Many people ask for a price cut and are citing that as the main reason they haven't jumped aboard but do you think Sony will?

I'd say the way things stand, Sony probably doesn't lose too much money (if any) the way things are priced. Especially considering the excellent attach rate the console is getting.

Do you think they're in a position where they're content for the sales numbers to be where they are and the prices remain the same, rather than cutting into their margins to try and force sales that may not even happen?

Personally, I love my vita and the money thing is a one-time whinge moment. After you've paid for the thing, you've got an excellent piece of kit with a rich and diverse library of games.

A price cut can do wonders to win over people that are on the fence about it or those that are looking at an impulse buy. I got a second (replacement) Vita because it was on sale and only because of that. Sure, not exactly the same reasoning, but it gets my point across.

The question is whether giving it a price cut alone is enough to give the Vita the consistent boost in sales it needs. I'm sure Sony will cut the price eventually, but it's all about timing. If they announce one along with a strong lineup of upcoming games (not necessarily AAA) then I think it would be a lot more effective.

They will cut the price.

Well, Sony already cut the price here (Spain) and other european countries with special promotions (-50€ on any hardware bundle). You can buy a Vita and in many cases a Vita and a game for less than 200€ since last year.
