Very tank-looking armor, but I didn't really like the look. I felt like my char was stuck in a tin can, which is probably for the best in a tanking situation.

That reminds me
its a really small thing but i kinda wish the plundered armor looked like more like the stats show.
the Iron Armor is weaker than the first plundered cuirass but

has chainmail and a neck guard, while

is just cloth and no neck guard.

Okay i have a question Gaf members who play an Archer class. Do you have a problem with Kitting? like with the enemies resetting? The reason i ask is cause my roommate plays one and he was having issues with kitting a mob and it resetting on him. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Everyone that has played archer or mage has experienced that, even melees that happened to pull a mob just a bit outside their movement area.

Oh no kidding wow, is that a bug or is that suppose to be like that. I remember someone said, it was like that in 1.0 of 14.

Interesting, the level 29 vendor?

Yeah, I think that was the one. He was one of the vendors there selling gear up to about level 34.

I'm not as worried about the look vs it's stats, I'm just glad there is armor variety in the game. Not too much stuff looks too similar at different levels. It was glaringly obvious in the early days of FFXI that they reused armor models, just change their base stats.

Consider also the fact many players have a pad in their hands and no keyboad connected. Just like me... the very silent type because of this, lol!

Oh, I didn't even think about that. Get a keyboard connected, gosh! :P (kidding, although it would be handy, eh?)

EDIT: Oops, I hope no one saw my typo before I edited. Embarrassing. lol

I connected a keyboard to my ps3 so that I could jabber, but then again I have 3-4 extra keyboards in the house for some reason. Still, in combat it's difficult to spare a moment to bang out some quick words. Voice communication is probably still optimal.

Man, I had that same armor set when the beta ended, and effective as it was I just HATED the look of it.

Aesthetically, I much preferred the armor-set that was two levels down from that, even if it wasn't nearly as good.

JUST SO SNAZZY!

Also, is it just me, or was flipping everyone dying their armor white near the end? Briefly it seemed like I was the only one doing it, than by near the end of the beta, the color scheme was everywhere.

I realize I wasn't the only one doing it, but it certainly seemed to have an explosion of popularity.

Dammit, you quoted my mistake! haha

I wish I could connect a keyblade to my PC/PS3!
:P

Oh for sure, talking while trying to keep up big heals is really hard on the more intense bosses, so I can only imagine what it's like for some of the more involved classes/jobs.

Targeting enemies in a group with the controller is really the big issue..

Yeah I've found this a really big barrier especially when trying to tank crowds effectively. Also sometimes my mind just gets fucked by the controllers hotbar UI. I'll mix up which group of 4 goes with which button combination. Accidentally press d-pad instead of the face button/vice versa. I don't know what it is about it, but sometimes my mind just goes blank.

The best tank set in the beta is white by default, and looks like that, but with more pieces added. Could have been what you were seeing.

Very nice setup you got there man. For me, it took me a while to get use to targeting my party since i play a healer and i always will be a healer until i figured out that pressing Up or Down on the directional pad targets my party members. Now i can heal with EASE on the PS3 controller.
Yeah, should specified I meant enemies. There may be another way to handle it with filters or something though. And thanks!

This game needs many things, but more useless shit on screen while i fight is not one of these things.

Plus the puppet is superior.

I have to confess, I was running Halatali yesterday as a tank, and there's quite a few bombs around, well in one section I had pulled 2 of them, and moving the camera around to see if something else was coming close, to prevent it from aggroing the other players, my own bomb surprised me and thought that a third one had linked, I tried to voke it quick and couldn't target it, then I realized it was my minion lol

I noticed the keyblade mistake, but I thought it was a deliberate pun on your part. I GUESS NOT

...

It wasn't. :( Fail. lol

haha that's awesome.

I was seeing it a lot with the armor set right above the one I pictures, the one with all the spikes, that make people look like a lancer/dragoneer?

That was a nice looking armor set too, except for that weird helmet.

Kinda curious about this strongest armor set. I never got that far, in part because I missed a day to technical difficulties, another day to leveling a blacksmith upto lvl 19, and a half day during a very poorly time computer upgrade.

This is how a list of names in the DF system could look like:

Cloud_Strife@Odin
Cloud_Strife@Moogle
Cloud_Strife@Aegis

That's a pretty good idea. I hope they have something like that in the pipeline. I figured they would just not match players with the same name.

Here's a question. Everytime I switched from my archer to by craffting/gathering class, I lost all my clothes. So when I went back to the archer I had to re-equip everything. I could see this getting really annoying in the full game.

is there a way to somehow "save" your equipment for different jobs?

Yes, you can save armor profiles.

You can also click and drag those profiles onto your hotbars, so you can switch between them without fussing through menus.

It's a good thing they don't allow for a more precise way to dye your armor, or else I'd totally go Captain America on a set of plate mail.

Since you mention it, in this new Yoshida interview from Japan Expo, Paris, he says:

Naoki Yoshida: To answer your question, yes absolutely, there will be more variety so people can have their unique identity especially towards the end of the game, we will be making more different equipment, gear. Also we are planning to release a patch and there’s going to be the possibility of having your own design on your item so you can make your own equipment, especially the strong ones with your own design. You will definitely have your own identity but at the moment we are careful not to destroy the world itself from a design point of view, to make sure it’s fitting the world.

Blue and white for me. I'm trying to think of some other color schemes that would be cool to mix up though.

EDIT: Personally, I think only crafters should be able to put an insignia on armor/weapons. Would make crafting that much more important, plus it would be cool to buy weapons from a "master smith" with a cool insignia.

Same, I was like the only one around while everyone was mixed, red or blue.
I picked white for the clean look and to stand out. Now white is everywhere.
at first I wanted average colored torso and pants with crimson gauntlets and leggings.

That would be a great idea, but I have no designing skills, so I don't want to mess around with special designs. It's like in Animal Crossing, my town's flag is plain black.

It'd be better for anyone just to be able to add special designs or at least to make them. It's like you'd open the image editor, then save the file in sort of like a materia/dye kind of item, then request a crafter to put it on the piece of armour that you want.

Is he referring to just different design and colors ON the armor, or actually designing/creating armor itself (or both)? I'd assume it'd be similar to the character creation, just for a piece of armor.

I it'd be very hard for the system (and servers) to deal with so many variables that could involve making an armour piece even if following an armour creation tool, so I'd go with just the design.

if it allows model change
all the ppl shouting for more Tera-like gears will be happy

any talk recently about letting legacy players recreate the character's look at launch?
Is it 100% absolutely definitely in?

It would work wonders for Free Company equipment, or at least to represent them since there isnt any icon for FCs yet.

Yeah, should specified I meant enemies. There may be another way to handle it with filters or something though. And thanks!

You can set up to four different filters and access them with L1 + face button, by marking checkboxes for enemy, npc, player, party and minions (I think). Then when you press left or right, it'll be cycling only on the ones you chose for the current active filter.

It still doesn't solve all my problems because even after I choose the filter for enemies only, if I'm facing a player or NPC and press X, I will still target he/she/it (maybe they did it so people wouldn't inadvertently block themselves out from talking to a NPC and thinking the game was broken). The filter appears to be strictly for the left and right switch.

Properly targeting enemies on the PS3 for me comes at the cost of speed: I press right, see if it's the enemy I want to attack, if yes, attack, if not, right again...

Sadly, I don't think going open beta or retail is going to fix that little explosion of white popularity. So I'm probably going to have to think up some other little color scheme to stand out.

I mean, occasionally seeing others in white isn't horrible, but when you walk through a city and see 2-3 other people dressed nearly identically, well its a little problem.

Yes, being able to craft on some sort of insignia would be an awesome way to sweeten the deal for crafting. Especially since you have to lvl one class for crafting weapons, and another class for armor.

Chocobo riding was awesome. I never had much time to even play, surprised I even got to Level 10.

I loved the Fate system. Pretty cool how randoms can all work together like that.

I've been trying to hold off on playing too much since everything is going to get wiped, but I played a decent amount the last two days and really enjoyed it. The game is a bit too easy for me, but I only got up to level 11 so I'm not worried about that at the moment.

I like all the gil on my Legacy character, but I think it'll be more fun to start over fresh, so I'll be joining everyone on Ultros for Phase 4. I don't know how much more I'll play between now and the end of Phase 3, but if I get on again, I'll get in on the GAF LS. If not, I'll just wait for Phase 4.

Still trying to get a good UI that I like. I'm definitely looking forward to being able to scale sections of the UI.

The filters make it a lot easier. I think once people get accustomed to using them, we won't see this complaint anymore.

I kind of like the fate system, I've had a few occasions where I just engaged a boss mindlessly and was about to die and people started coming to help :lol

I told my friends and I was like dude I'm tanking a boss with some lancer guy and I think I'm dying.

Sad I wasn't able to play more this week end, I see a lot of people from GAF as I'm out and about. Haven't made the time to join the guild since I was using the beta as an excuse to just do solo stuff and screw around in the world. Look forward to playing with everyone come open beta / early access time.

Need to pick up a cheap wireless blue tooth keyboard, doing mission that require you to /soothe an enemy are a pain even with cross bar short cut to emotes.

Are the servers in this game segmented by platforms? Or do PS3 and, theoretically, PS4 owners play with the PC users?

It's all cross platform. You can play with people on any platform and load up your character on any version of the game. So when the PS4 version hits, you'll be playing with PC, PS3, and PS4 players.

So I only made it to level 8 and didn't get to travel or see the world. This MMO is really easy to get into.

How dangerous is the world outside of beginner zones? Will I be able to travel from city to city without worry?
